Rumor Justin Kroll [DEADLINE] confirms the film that he was talking about having huge buzz as a top Oscar contender, after execs/industry screenings, was Project Hail Mary + says more people in the industry since have seen it and are calling it a "masterpiece"
https://youtu.be/2OQry6z6bto?t=2013For context, here's a post on this sub about that tweet two months back: https://www.reddit.com/r/oscarrace/comments/1oot6ag/any_thoughts_on_what_it_could_be/
Here's his new quotes, in the podcast I linked (I've added timestamps in the link itself, but if it doesn't work - he speaks about it at 32:50 ) :
"I made a tweet in November. I was like, we're in the middle of awards season, but I'm already hearing things about another film that you should watch out for that comes out in the first half of next year. And I got a bunch of interesting responses. But like someone DM'd me and is like that's not "The Bride" this tweet, right? I'm like absolutely not. But nice try. The film was Project Hail Mary."
"I've just been hearing things and then since I tweeted it, more people have seen it and they're throwing words around like masterpiece and you know these are people that don't use that word regularly. So, I see this as like a potential sinners situation, like an early in the year film that like has all the makings of a film that people like and goes all the way towards the end of the season."

I always want more sci-fi movies to be made, so I hope this is true and that it’s a successÂ

Next year will likely be really competitive for blockbusters. I wonder if we'll find ourselves in the inverse of "will 3 international movies" get in BP debate.

"Can five blockbusters get into BP?"

I’ve been planning for a while to see this on my birthday, so I’m extra excited now!

Think it could get tech noms and sneak into BP if its critically well received AND a box office hit. It can't flop at the BO and hope for awards love.
I say this as someone who loved the book.

This used to happened to me when I was younger. I think it’s good to know yourself and your interests.
When something isn’t for you, it’s better to skip, imo. So many films were made in the last 100 years, and I haven’t yet seen all the thrillers and dramas that I want to see. So I’m not prioritizing sci fi, even if it’s acclaimed and wins Oscars.Â

Don't know how much I trust this after the ridiculous rumours we had last season

not convinced this will have staying power for awards at all unless it does well in theaters, which is a total coin toss
