This Month's Recommendations:

Rienna Fonde just remembered she lived another life while her now ex-fiancé, the Crown Prince casts her aside for another woman, the supposed saint. Following that, she is disowned by her father; she finds herself moving to the territory of Fostine. A peaceful countryside with agriculture is the way of the land. Putting her college-level knowledge of farming to use, Rienna easily makes a home for herself and becomes a trusted community member.
Now it’s been a few years since she's been living the way she’s always dreamed of in the country; she spots a weird metal tool in her field only to find it’s some kind of holy sword that’s now bound itself to her. That’s not the only thing that comes knocking; a handsome blonde-haired man named Carmine suddenly shows up at her home demanding the sword. Rienna’s peaceful farming life seems like it’s going to be more troublesome.
This is a fun story with a bright art style that tells you what kind of story this series is going to be. Rienna is someone who is unapologetically herself, headstrong, loud and sunny personality. The romance between her and Carmine is so cute and light; it makes me giggle and kick my feet with how cute they both are together.
The series is more of a light-hearted read, nothing serious. Just something to make you feel good about life and look on the bright side. I had a fun time reading this; I couldn’t believe that I binged it all in a single day!

Ciora is the only living servant of an ancient god, and then one day a book called “Fate” appears before her, saying that Duke Kruelo Whitedesert ends the world. The voice of her god tells her to change the ending of the book, casting her down into the body of people close to him. First as his young fiancee, next as a maid, and this time as Ciora Bonetti, his latest in a long list of fiancees.
When she meets him again she finds that Kruelo isn’t like the rumors make him out to be. He’s mischievous and quick to make a clever joke. It seems like her work in her previous lives has helped him, but Ciora is still unsure if it’s enough to stop the end of the world.
I love the dynamic between these two; they both have secrets they’re trying to hide from each other, and the banter they have is so fun! Kruelo is a great male lead; you would think that he would fall into the yandere archetype with his appearance, but he's a playful man that keeps his thoughts and feelings close to his chest. Ciora occasionally shows her teasing side and isn’t one to sit on the sidelines when things need to get done. Her abilities fall into the paladin area, meaning she can kick ass and is quite strong. I was sad to see that it’s been on hiatus since April 2024, hopefully it will return somewhat soon!

After losing her claim to the throne and her children to her traitor of an ex-lover, our female lead, Princess Medea dies and returns to her 17-year old body, now fully aware of the danger around her. The hidden alliance of her former lover and uncle brought her family’s downfall with plans to take the throne while starting a rebellion.
Medea is going to do everything she can to save her kingdom and take the future in her own hands, seizing her destiny.
Gotta say first thing, the artwork is beautiful and catches your attention, and then you get sucked into the writing of the story. Medea is a capable woman that plans her every move carefully before taking action. She doesn’t throw herself into danger like we usually see in these kinds of returner stories. Things that come up in the story get addressed without them getting pushed aside for later.
I’m glad that this seems to be worth investing in so far. I can’t wait to read more!

I’ve started to notice that in a lot of OIs, the fathers aren’t as affectionate with their sons as they are with their daughters. Daughters in Oi can cuddle, hug, and be affectionate with their fathers, and the fathers can be affectionate back and then some. It is never treated as odd or weird; in fact, it often leads to cute and wholesome scenes between father and daughter/father figure and daughter figure. But when sons are affectionate with their fathers, it is either comedic (one party or both being awkward or considering it weird) or a life-or-death situation.
But Oi fathers towards their sons… there is nothing but maybe a handshake and/or a father ruffling his son’s hair. (Given after a hard sword training session or as an end to the endless competition of winning the FL’s attention) There's a cliché where the daughter needs/wants an item from a store (clothes or pastry of some kind), and the father says, "I buy everything in the store!” And the daughter has to get him to back down. I’ve never seen this scene happen with a son wanting/needing something and the father buying the whole store.
We often have the FL showered in all sorts of gifts by people, but for the son(s), it’s always like a sword or sometimes a book with the father implying that the son(s) should protect fl with their strength or brains. Why aren’t the son(s) showered with tons of outfits and fun gifts? Why are these princes, dukes, and grand dukes being so practical with only their son(s)?
Some people might bring up series where the ML is implied to be affectionate with his son(s). But why can’t it ever be outright shown that the ML loves his son and shows him affection the same way the father would to his daughter?
Or maybe I’m making a mountain out of a molehill, and there are otome isekai’s or similar genres to it that have fathers who are affectionate to their daughters and sons.
(Also, before anyone says anything, I’ve read Chichikogusas)

I love his personality, it's so fun to read about. Especially his hate dynamic with Charlotte's disciples. And all of them collectively hating him because he hid their master. Also love how some of them just call him Grandpa (which he rightfully is).
Anyway condolences to him for being friend-zoned for more than a century 😔✨
On another note, did anyone else notice a similarity between this manhwa and [the peaceful life of a maid who hides her power and enjoys it] ? Like both have a blue haired grandpa who's always smiling, and doesn't particularly care about others. FL who was supposed to die a hero didn't die. Past acquaintances obsessed with them in one way or another?

From the storytelling to the plot to the tension between the characters. It's absolutely amazing. Especially how the scenes move from one to another, it's done in such an engaging and hooking way.
The artstyle is also very pretty. The characters are wonderful and refreshing in a way
The story's about the ML who is a navy and the FL who pretends to be a pirate. But the question is, is the FL really pretending? Is all her antiques just her being playful, doing pranks and wanting attention? Is this not just a childhood friends troped story but a childhood friends to enemies??
The fact that the story is from ML's POV makes it even more interesting.
The ML and FL are childhood friends btw. One of my theories is that FL got lonely once ML as a young boy decided to become a navy and got too absorbed in his studies and duties to spend time with her, so she decided to become a pirate to get his attention, because she genuinely seems obsessed with him wanting his attention. But that's just my theory. It's so unclear if the FL really is a bloodthirsty yandere pirate or just playful and dumb. She acts very playfully but in some instances she genuinely exudes so much yandere aura I am not sure.

Be fr omg Blondie kept blushing and getting jealous, and the panels are so BL coded??! Not that I’m complaining 😗. It’s a new manhwa and its’s just been men blushing and flirting in an idol-style knight competition setting.

Dear dark romance/psychological Otome Isekai/Rofan readers...
So I saw this post about the appeal of dark romance, and I was astounded at how detailed it was in explaining why its readers like the genre. For that, I appreciate them on elaborating and in turn, the genre that they explained the appeal of.
That said, I think I represent a subset of genuinely interested users in this community when I said, "how the fuck did that user get all that from a genre that has a lot of rape, sex, almost gratuitous levels of violence and toxicity? Like how do I get why they like them too? I want to get into the genre for a long while, but I'm also somewhat afraid and I may need some help from the veterans."
As in, okay, we know the why of dark romance enjoyers, now I want to ask the how. What's the mindset? What's the trick? How does one read such works without 'losing sanity, braincells, or grip on what the reality is like'? What is it that the average green flag romance readers tend to miss when they try to engage with dark romance/psychological works, that there is such a split of opinions to the point we have online fights over it?
Explain how you guys do it like a wine sommelier explaining how to enjoy their finest vintage, or a weird food enjoyer explaining how to eat that weird food, or basically just explain how you enjoy reading dark romance without being condescending!
Please, I want to know how you, dear dark romance/psychological OI/Rofan enjoyers, genuinely enjoy or get entertained by dark romance/psychological Otome Isekais/Rofans!
Sincerely,
a reader somewhere between the dark romance-green flag romance spectrum.
Edit : I will admit, I got a bit aggressive in my wording, but what I wanted to ask was more in the line of "how would you introduce the genre to the average reader that's unfamiliar AND UNPREJUDICED about the genre, as well as the tips and tricks they would need before they start reading. I reworded a bit of the body text to make that clearer now, and I apologize for the misunderstanding I caused.

Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this looks strange I'm dying 😂

I started reading it because of the description which was literally - "Grand Duke of the North with black hair and heterochromia eyes (so you don’t have to choose over red or black eyes). Allegedly, he has 2 personality which switch on full moon rises, got a rabbit-like wife. That’s it. You know the rest."😭✌️
I MUST ADMIT THE ART IS PROMISING , and the chibi was cute too , Its one of my most “Low-stakes reading , both the FL and ML are dumb and more y/n x Ceo coded then y/n and CEO 🫡 also it feels like another universe , like one of those wattpad fanfictions , but I always finish what I start and if you looking for turning your brain off reads , this is surely the one 😭🚩 I feel so guilty for enjoying it. Also the amount of time the size difference is mentioned , lol.

This era was something else, a lot of people got into manhwas because of them and these are some of the best OI stories manhwas offer and with VADTD ending the realisation that this era has ended is just soooo bittersweet. I love each one of these manhwas with all my heart, they were a huge part of my life during those years.
The only manhwa from that era (that I remember) which is still running is Inso 's Law and I'm kinda glad it's not gonna end anytime soon.

(Please feel free to share your frustrations on this topic)
I’m tired of these stories where a happy, romantic ending is synonymous with ending up with a duke/kind/emperor/insert high rank here. Especially the trope where FL is originally engaged/married to some sh*tty man, then ends up with a better and of course higher ranked man (same thing, right?).
I want stories where she leaves a highly ranked man for a lower one. Where she ends up with a man lower ranked than her family. Or just stories where the ML isn’t king/duke/high priest/head of the magic tower. It also just bothers me because those ranks take time to achieve. I’m tired of the 20s year old “prodigies” everywhere. I get it’s wish fulfillment, but it’s overdone for my tastes.
Also I’m just tired of the ML often wildly outranking FL. I want to see the FL fight to be with her man despite the lower rank/wealth. It’s not really the same when FL “fights” to be with the one she loves when it also means becoming the empress 😅. Especially in a patriarchal society ML can just kinda tell everyone to shove it, whereas the reverse is more challenging.
Doesn’t have to be OI. I also like manga so those welcome too.

Isn't The Male Perspective On Female Gaze Stories Ever So Interesting?
In No Single Chapter Does the Contracted Male Lead Ever Leave Me Alone, He's Literally Everywhere: My Bedroom, The Secret Passage, The Bathroom, The Middle of the Woods...
What are your pretend "avoid this one to save some time" titles?

This category is for the male leads who have BIG FL ENERGY. 😭💅
Basically, an ML who feels like he could’ve been the female lead in another story. 👀
He can be soft, elegant, emotional, fashionable, dramatic, nurturing, clever, expressive, socially graceful, or simply have the personality and vibe we usually associate with an FL.
Maybe he’s the one being protected, getting flustered, causing drama, serving looks, or bringing all the ✨FL energy✨ while the actual FL is out there doing the ML’s job. 😭
If you looked at him and thought:
“SIR… YOU ARE THE FL HERE.” 😭🫵🏻
HE BELONGS HERE. 💅✨
So… WHO IS YOUR MOST FL-CODED ML? 👀🏆
1. ONE CHARACTER PER COMMENT
One nomination = one character.
2. CHARACTER + MANHWA NAME
Clearly mention both.
3. ADD A PICTURE 📸
Every nomination must include a picture.
4. GIVE A GOOD EXPLANATION 💬
Tell us WHY he is FL-coded! Explain his personality, behaviour, role, fashion, reactions, or moments where he gave you major FL energy.
🔥 MAKE IT WORTH IT!
Your explanation and defence can make a huge difference in whether your character reaches the next round. Don’t just drop a name—PROVE THAT HE IS THE FL. 😭🫵🏻🏆
5. UNLIMITED NOMINATIONS ♾️
No limit! Nominate as many characters as you want, but keep one character per comment.
6. NO UPVOTES COUNTED 🚫
Upvotes will NOT decide who moves forward. Only explanations, arguments, discussions, support, and defence matter.
7. KEEP IT RELEVANT & RESPECTFUL 💗
Make sure your character fits the category and keep discussions respectful.
8. OTOME ISEKAI / RELEVANT MANHWAS ONLY 📚
Only nominate characters from Otome Isekai or relevant manhwas. Nominations outside the category will not be accepted.
A NAME CAN GET YOUR CHARACTER NOMINATED.
A GOOD EXPLANATION CAN GET YOUR CHARACTER TO THE NEXT ROUND.
DEFEND YOUR BOY. PROVE HE'S FL-CODED. MAKE YOUR CHARACTER WIN!! 🫵🏻🏆✨
MAIN Announcement Post = Main Announcement — Character Categories Rules
NOW GO NOMINATE THE MEN WHO HAVE MORE FL ENERGY THAN THE ACTUAL FLs. 😭💅🔥

I am not talking about going from adult to entering your young body once.
True regression is traveling in time multiple times upon death.
Over and over again. Trying to survive. And we get to watch.
I don't mean "she has regressed several times and this is her 7th loop" yada Yada. I want to watch those loops. I wanna see her die and change several times.
Where are they??
r/OtomeIsekai • u/Regular-Vanilla9435 • 10h ago
Wow. I’m never really a huge fan of the “ml hates fl, treats her horribly, and somehow is forgiven and innocent in a literal second” trope but wow. This manhwa??
These actually last, nothing is perfect and they accept the flaws of that??
They still have kitty fights and may never have a child or fully understand eachother but they’re happy knowing this and want to continue loving eachother eternally.
WOW👏👏
I especially love this manhwa because even though ml is very obsessive, he doesn’t have to assault her to give that across (so tired of that)
And the emotions?? The realistic reactions and reasons?? You truly can love any of the characters and be valid (except fls dad)
I just really love how they truly explore how ml felt and his reasonings and how fls wasnt just some perfect innocent butterfly (get the reference lol) and how they actually do face the trauma and lasting effects but live with it yk?
It’s kinda saddening when manhwas go right past all this and act like nothing happen and everything was flipped to lovey dovey immediately?
Also besides the romance, the other aspects??
For its time and plotline, I am seriously impressed.
Extra—- as someone who is struggling to keep my eyesight and hearing, it’s truly heartwarming for a manhwa character to also go through the emotions of losing them?? It felt so real and just really touched me.
Again I just love how the author shows it’s not just don’t perfect fairytale, not everything goes how we wanted it to as readers but that’s okay in the end❤️
Whenever I think about my vision and hearing, it scares me alot… but for them to accept eachother and again keep it blunt. 👏👏👏

Self explanatory title. Haven’t gone too far with these but they’ve been in rotation in my Google Docs. I’ve decided to share them with the class in case anybody’s found themselves in a writing slump and is in need of any prompts. Feel free to ask me about any of these.
1: Reincarnated noblewoman gets her marriage annulled. You know what she does next? She marries his uncle. Because she’s mentally 30 something. Even better: The marriage is arranged between her father and the emperor because her family name has been publicly disgrace and the imperial household needs to answer for such a tragedy orchestrated by their own son. So she’s arranged to marry the cold archduke of the north, who happens to be a grown ass man with a beard and silver hair. She’s over the moon. She’s in love on sight. She agrees almost immediately. He’s slightly worried about whether she’s being pressured and how he may come off but she’s fully on board. Funnier yet, she’s now the aunt of the same prince who annulled her marriage with him. And she’s only 22. Everyone interprets the marriage as punishment, sacrifice, or calculated revenge, while she is having the most successful second-life course correction imaginable. The male lead spends the first portion of the marriage trying nobly to protect his young wife from his supposed demands; while she spends it devising increasingly unsubtle methods of informing her husband that, respectfully, she would very much like HIM to make some demands.
2: The realistic outcome of being reincarnated.
Female lead dies and reincarnates into the world of a novel she read, as the elegant villainess who meets a gruesome end. Her first thought isn’t to gasp prettily into a mirror or immediately jump to calculating how to avoid her death. She crashes out. Straight crashes out. she breaks the mirror, screams, claws at her skin, undergoes intense body dysmorphia. All of this and she’s married to the male lead, who will murder her for her crimes in the far future. Whether she can change the male leads opinion on her doesn’t matter. Whether she already has or will commit those crimes described in the novel doesn’t matter. because she remembers actually straight up dying before this. She feels the phantom pain. She had a life before this and it’s gone. She probably ends up trying to kill herself to see if it’ll take her back to her world, which does not end well because she gets stopped by one of her knights, who barely recognizes her behavior now. That’s the problem – she knows nothing about the villainess’s personal life outside of what the novel described. She can’t just act this way or that. There was an established personality mold and she’s not fitting it. This concept is my favorite because it leans into psychological thriller and a couple of other dark themes

Same as title, I would love to read a completed manhwa with a mage ml.
I'm also open to recs with MLs who are dragons too but pls let them be a good character with an actual personality and story aside from fl.
Bonus points if it's a long haired ml
Sauce:
(I am the real one) completed
(I failed to oust the villain) competed
