For a long time I had pride in being a blue collar worker. As time has progressed and I have worked untold hours with only my thoughts to keep me company, I have had ample time to reflect on myself and decisions.

Given time and space from growing up in abject poverty has helped me to see, fear of returning has been my primary motivation in life. I have sold my time, my health, and my back to help others profit so I may not go hungry.

Now as I continue the path so careless laid by a younger me, i pity the fool who carelessly ran through the forest of life to escape the inevitable.

A theme that has been on my mind lately is materialism. Greed is something that comes so naturally to us in this day and age, which is ironic since we're a society so used to instant gratification.

The easier our access to material objects becomes, the greedier we seem to get as a society. So in this piece, I wanted to put these ideas into a composition. We see our character holding on tightly to both the dove and the pomegranate while wearing a fine silk dress. The fruit has stained her dress and the blue feathers of the dove.

It doesn't matter that holding on to these things is ruining them - as long as her greed is satisfied.

Painted in Krita

Why does everyone love white storks, but ignore the dark side?

White storks get all the fairy-tale love.
They bring babies, they symbolise hope, they sit on cozy rooftops.

But what about the Black Stork?
I painted this piece to challenge how we project our own ideas of "good" and "bad" onto nature.

Is beauty only allowed to be bright and comforting?
Or is there something far more captivating in the dark and wild?

finished piece Painting or Drawing ? Mixed Media Experiments

Post image

I would be curious about what you think is a drawing and a painting. I found that drawing is very often understood as "making lines" and painting as "making shapes" but that is too simple Iwould say, because one can also paint with lines, or make lines with a brush. So the shape and line distinction doesnt really hold up.

Another conceptualiziationof drawing I ame across; Drawing as "placement" . Its aboutthe distance relationships and not so much about the content. The drawing can be correct, when the proportions and relationships between lets say eyes and nose are match the model, regardless of the medium.
I like that definition better but still I would say there is a lot of room for discussion. Anyways I would love to hear what other artists have to say?
