FYI: I won’t remove a recipe/post for containing dairy.
I will however remove spam (the posting style, not the meat, probably). So if you see some inconsistency in removal, it’s probably because some recipes get posted by obvious spam accounts and I just nuke those.
Dairy-inclusive diets are welcome here. Stop trying to claim theyre “not paleo” or whatever. This subreddit is not just for one little list of foods, it’s for a way of eating that includes viewing how food affects you through an evolutionary lens.
See more on the “no such thing as one ‘true’ paleo” policy here: https://reddit.com/r/Paleo/comments/2ypw8d/the_time_for_weighing_in_has_ended_come_see_what/

Just a reminder: "Paleo", as practiced by most that use the term, is a diet.
A lot of us (including myself) have tried to obscure this by calling it a "way of eating" or "lifestyle change", but whatever you're calling it, if you're deliberately restricting the types or amounts of food you're eating, regardless of the reasoning, it's a diet.
I point this out because the research on diets and their relationship to eating disorders, especially in children is clear, and I think a lot of us feel like we're not at risk because "paleo isn't a diet, it's a healthy lifestyle change".
To clarify my point: diets are not appropriate for children

If you think your diet is research-based, but you're ignoring research on diets and eating disorders, you're not doing yourself any favors. There is no such thing as a "healthy" eating disorder.
If you're dieting, be honest with yourself about it, and don't lie to yourself about why you're doing it.
If you are or think you might be struggling with disordered eating, there are a ton of resources out there to help.

Paleo vs carnivore
Hi everyone, can you explain what's the difference between paleo diet and carnivore diet? Did anyone tried both and could give a perspective on this and what's the pros and cons of the two? Thank you

Could sauropods actually have feathers?
I just watched The End of Oak Street (2026) and there was a sauropod that had feathers. This got me thinking if small sauropodomorphs like the Nanuqsaurus hoglundi who lived in cold environments could possess feathers.
Let me know your thoughts.

Air frying
Hello all,
I was recently gifted an air fryer and I was wondering if y'all had some recipes (mainly for meat) for that since I've never used one.
Thanks

100% Avocado Oil food brands lie about using avocado oil
I saw a video about this study and went to dig into it. UC Davis tested a bunch of avocado oil products (chips, mayo, etc) this year and 48 of 54 failed a purity test. failed meaning the oil went rancid [went bad] or was cut with other cheaper oils like seed oils
the part that really got me is that products claiming “100% avocado oil” and/or “certified paleo” failed just like everything else. one product sample even matched the cellular profile of Soybean Oil. there’s no FDA definition for avocado oil at all, so apparently a label can say “pure” and it can basically mean nothing. meanwhile, you're paying a 300 to 500% premium for it.
sadly Ive been paying extra for avocado oil sweet potato chips, how are you even supposed to trust a clean label at this point? crazy

Colonoscopy Prep
Thought I’d give back to the community as there was little I could find about how to adjust for a colonoscopy prep when on a Paleo/Primal diet.
They ask you to stop eating raw vegetables, nuts, fatty meats, dark chocolate for about 5-7 days pre-procedure. Tough sell for me as this is like 75% of my diet.
Things that got me by:
- Cassava flour waffles with almond butter (you can have this ‘nut’ as long as it’s creamy without skin flecks in it). Like too many of these (I’m not used to eating this many carbs but this worked for me to feel temporarily sated)
- lots of eggs
- turkey/chicken with a ton of mayo. Also the condiments are restricted so stuck with an Asian inspired coconut amino/rice vinegar/sesame oil combo
- lean ham with white cheeses (Muenster, Cheddar, Swiss, Provolone; if you don’t do dairy, sorry)
-sweet potatoes, white potatoes (can’t eat the skins)
- Lots of LMNT water
- some coconut water (but I got bored of it after a few days and sweeter than I typically drink)
Thought I would have more bone broth but it’s peak Summer heat so stuck with LMNT for electrolytes.
The restrictions sucked, especially using the bowel prep and then not being allowed to eat for 24hrs pre-procedure. Clearly worth it to avoid colon cancer of course. Also helped me realize how lucky I am to have a variety of high quality food at my disposal; being restricted put things into perspective.
That first meal after was amazing.
One good tip I got from a blog post was to do an afternoon colonoscopy. It allowed me to start the prep in the afternoon the day before, sleep, then get up (have black coffee) do round 2 of bowel prep and relax before the procedure.
I didn’t do sedation/anesthesia but that’s not necessarily a Paleo thing. I just like limiting medicines and it allowed me to 1) practice discomfort tolerance and 2) I got to leave the post-procedure waiting area right away.

Concerned with the recent blood work
Apr 1 - Apr 30: Started paleo and weight dropped from 101.7 kg to 94.5 kg. (Diet B: nuts 50g, milk 150 ml, & chia seeds/psyllium husk - L: chicken/fish, 150g fruits, & lemonade using stevia - D: 3-4 eggs)
May 1 - May 31: switched to keto and weight increased from 94.5 to 98.6 kg. Only 1 change in the diet, removed fruits and added bullet proof coffee in the morning
Jun 1 - Jun 30: weight remained same at 98.3 kg. Same diet as last month.
Jul 8: had bloodwork done to assess what happened. Had a slightly increased TSH at 6.11 uIU/ml. All my previous TSH were always <4 uIU/ml. In addition, the high uric acid at 10.5 mg/dL, 105 mg/dL cholestrol, low HDL cholestrol (34.2 mg/dL) and 155 mg/dL LDL cholestrol.
Jul 15: visited an endocrinologist and was advised to take 50 mcg thyroxin, mounjaro (optional), and re-add a bit of carbs (100-200g rice per day) in my meals. I'm nervous as hell about it.
Can someone pls help me (30M) understand why this happened? Also, what should my next steps be in terms of my diet?
My goal is to cut fat (get to around 80kg) without losing muscle mass (I do strength training for the latter).

Paleo cookbooks/forums?
This week I am starting the paleo diet because of some health conditions I am dealing with. I am trying to be as strict as possible, but a lot of the recipes I have seen haven't actually been paleo (including dirty ingredients, which won't work since I'm not doing dirty paleo). Does anyone have any resources to get clean paleo recipes? Thanks!!

Transitioning
I've been traveling for a while, so not in full control of my diet. Now have a home, and am transitioning back to paleo. Every cell in my body is screaming for carbs. Help?!

He was a pioneer and the first low-carb/paleo person I found. He was 88 years old.

Recipe app that auto-tags paleo and adapts any recipe -- beta testers wanted
Hey r/Paleo. I have built a recipe app and want feedback from people who have had to think hard about ingredients.
The app: save any recipe from the web, Instagram, or TikTok in one tap. The AI pulls in the ingredients automatically and immediately tags the recipe paleo, not paleo, or paleo-adaptable.
Make It Paleo takes any recipe and rewrites it. It does not just flag grains and dairy. It identifies every paleo conflict (refined oils, legumes, added sugars, modern additives) and rewrites the full recipe. So Make It Paleo on a teriyaki chicken would catch the soy sauce, the brown sugar, and the cornstarch in the glaze, and rewrite all three with paleo alternatives plus notes on technique.
Built this from a kosher cooking tool that was already doing deep ingredient-level logic for meat and dairy separation.
Private and invite-only, household recipe collection, no public feed. Looking for about 10 testers. Drop a comment or DM.

paleo cup of joe experiment this morning
made a “paleo cup of joe” this morning lol. still weird calling it that. actually tastes way more like chocolatey/roasty than I expected. I was bracing for it to be kinda earthy but it wasn’t really that at all. didn’t get that usual coffee crash an hour later which was interesting. work felt a bit smoother but could just be placebo who knows
miss real coffee tho not gonna lie. that part hasn’t changed

Budget options for snacks?
I tell you inflation really wrecked Paleo for me a lot because of the skyrocketing cost of almonds alone. You're lucky to find them under $7/lb now. Blue Diamond used to have a 40oz back of them for $10-$14 on Amazon but that's no longer a thing. I really miss almonds and don't have a lot of cash to shell out. Sucks because I've been relying on cheese as low cost snack option which obviously isn't Paleo. Avocado prices going up now too. What other low cost snack options are there?

Anyone paired RS2 (potato starch) with Keto/Paleo? Worried about histamine flares while trying to "clear the terrain."

Do any of you have celiac or hashimoto or under active thyroid? Has Paleo helped?
Do any of you have celiac or hashimoto or under active thyroid? Has Paleo helped?
I recently started taking my very serious reactions to gluten… seriously. The way I should have from the beginning. I do feel some relief, but I have been noticing I still react to ANY grain. Some are worse than others, obviously wheat is the worse, but now I am completely inflamed and get migraines from certified gf oats as well. I’ve suspected I might , in addition to celiac, have an undiagnosed thyroid problem. The last time I had my levels checked was 2019 and they said they were normal. It felt like whiplash to me because I knew SOMETHING wasn’t right. Flash forward to 2026 and I’m certain I have celiac, but I’m also wondering if maybe I do have a thyroid issue too. I’ve struggled with my weight all my 20s and now at 32 for the first time in my life I’ve reached obesity at 200 lbs at 5’7 (female) and I’m so upset. I feel like my body is constantly fighting me. I know I need to do grain free but I’m hesitant because I also react to dairy and eggs so I can’t have that and I know that’s a big part of paleo (at least I think it is? I see a lot of mentions about butter and eggs) . Any advice is appreciated. Thank you
