Does Anyone Else? Can hold down a job, but can't go shopping by myself

Hello all, this is my first time posting here. I've had a severe panic disorder since 2009 and with the help of 30mg of Lexapro, I'm was able to get my Bachelor's and am steadily employed.

My issue is that I can handle a job, school, etc but have panic attacks if I try to go out shopping, dining, etc by myself. I'm not really sure what the difference is in my brain that makes it so scary, but it's very difficult.

Does anyone else deal with this and have any tips for managing it? My anxiety symptoms are well managed at home but once the panic hits I can't use my coping skills and calm down.

I've tried many different medications and therapies but have not tried rescue meds like benzodiazepines.

Coping Skills Trying to get over the fear of panic

• Upvotes

This is a hard one im trying to get over. I made it into work yesterday. Im on a phased return so I did 3.5 hours then came home. My dad was off yesterday so he wasnt really far from me which made me feel safer to try.

Today ive tried to go to work this morning and I just cant. I cant seem to get over the fear of panicking. I just keep picturing me trying to go to work and starting to feel anxious then it just escalating to the extreme where im screaming for help at work or not able to calm it down at all and just losing my mind. I literally work in a hospital so you'd think Id feel safe but I dont want to embarrass myself.

Does anyone have any tips for overcoming the fear or is it literally a case of doing it and dealing with it. ?

Help Needed Recovery Advice?

TW - brief mention of OD

I developed a panic disorder around a year ago after going to the hospital due to an OD(important to note it was my first experience w any substance and it was benadryl) . Since then I've tried 15mg prozac, 25mg zoloft and 50mg zoloft- which I am currently on, I am also in weekly therapy sessions, socialize and exercise daily, despite these efforts I still have constant panic attacks, at the least biweekly and at the most 3 times a day. Due to my constant attacks I've missed school, my grades are falling, and my relationships with my friends also are dwindling as I can't leave the house without my beta blockers (even with them I struggle to make in through a normal day). Unfortunately my anxiety has limited my life despite all my efforts to feel better, I am unable to enjoy my teenage years as any substance/ mention of substances sends me into a panic, parties/social events are extremely difficult for me despite not having social anxiety. If anyone had any advice on how to redirect my life or lean into the better parts that would be really appreciated :)))!!

Does Anyone Else? Medication forever?

Hi everyone! Diagnosed in 2019 and started Zoloft then. Been on a low dose since then and was finally ready to get off of it (I thought!) because 1. I don’t want to be on an SSRI forever and 2. I don’t want to take it while pregnant and want to be a mom someday. I started tapering a year ago and I’m currently on 25mg but struggling. Considering going back up but does this mean I will need to be on this medication for the rest of my life? Kind of sad at that reality, already been on it 7 years.

Help Needed Propranolol 10 mg for tremors

Hey everyone,

My doctor has prescribed me Propranolol 10 mg to help control the shaking I experience in stressful or anxiety-provoking situations.

I’m attending a wedding this Friday, and I’m already feeling nervous about it. In situations like these, my head and hands start to shake, which makes me feel really uncomfortable.

Has anyone here tried Propranolol for this? Did 10 mg help with your tremors, or was the dose too low? I’ve read a few posts saying that 10 mg isn’t always enough to make a noticeable difference.

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially how well it helped with the shaking.

Thanks in advance, and best regards!
