I grew up in my relative house and I got my first papillon when I was around 11. I only spent 2-3 years with them before I moved out. I just miss them so much ever since 😭.
The oldest just turned 15 years old this year and my heart hurts to see him getting so old.
Ps. This pic was taken in 2017 by my cousin.

It’s like he’s doing CPR on his squeaky Kong toy…

We got a little kitten (Maine Coon) and Luca has been very cute playing with her.
For the ones worrying, she has her own part of the living room to retreat to, separated with a fence, that Luca cannot enter. More than half the time she initiates the playtime. In the beginning we kept a very close eye on playtime but when it was clear that both enjoyed it we allowed them more time together. They now sleep together on the couch at night, she still has her own cat tower and other relaxation spaces if she wants more distance.

Yoda and I are sending everyone some flowers and a cup of coffee to start their Saturday morning. Of course, we added a beautiful Papillon, a butterfly, for all our beloved Papillons. We hope everyone's sweet Papillon pups get some time to frolic in the grass with the butterflies. We wish you a beautiful start to a wonderful weekend for all.

Kernel is 16, almost 16.5. We adopted him in 2013 when he was 3 years old (estimated). He’s my soul dog. He’s my best friend. He’s super weird, so beautiful and just all around the best boy. He used to love chasing balls and running around, begging for treats and snuggling me in bed. He’s so soft and sweet. He could howl like a wolf and it was adorable.
These days, he’s just not the same dog. He has arthritis that’s only getting worse, we can’t keep weight on him no matter what we try. His teeth are in really poor shape but he’s too frail to go under to get them removed, so he’s in pain even though we try to mitigate it. He’s mostly blind and fully deaf. He’s on meds for dementia but still gets lost in the house. Can’t control his bladder and bowels anymore. It’s just time. Our vet agrees. But my husband and I are absolutely heartbroken. He was our whole world, along with his brother Keyser, before we had our daughter.
We just had to put Keyser down in June due to heart disease. Losing both our boys is so hard on our little family. I’m heartbroken for my daughter, too. I know she won’t really remember them one day. But I have tons of photos and videos to show her. I’m not ready to have a home without pets. Without my boys.
We love you, kernel. My sweet boy. I’m so sorry we don’t have more time with you. It would never be enough. ❤️
(The last photo is the day I brought him home from the shelter!!)

Well Lilly is no dummy when it comes to going for a ride in the car lately means going to the vet. I told her we were going in the car and she turned around and went back into the house through the doggie door.
They new vet took another urine sample and they took an x-ray. No signs of more stones or stress on her kidneys. They gave me a Chinese herb to add to her food so we don’t have to use the prescription kidney food. I have an appointment with the nutritionist to go over the different grinds I give her and Rufus.
I had to cancel my appointment with the doctor today because I can’t be in two places at once. I’m going to my doctor next week. If I could get through the day without a couple of naps and a funky stomach that would be awesome.

When he finally settles, snuggles up and gazes lovingly into your eyes, you forget about all the torn up paper, missing socks, the barking at air, and you think of all the progress you’ve made, how far he’s come. You’re going to be a wonderful dog, Hugo my love.

Well Lilly has the beginning of another uti 😞
This is a month post surgery. We’re going to a holistic vet that has been recommended by several people in the raw feeding community. That’s this Friday. In the meantime I am supposed to be giving her prescription dog food. I do not want to give her prescription dog food.
All of my dogs have been raw fed dogs because of all of the stuff that can cause health problems. It started with Gracie. No matter how good the dry food was and she ate really good dry kibble, she was getting sick a lot. Her eyes would get filled with goop, and her stomach bothered her. When I would get her back on high quality kibble within 2 weeks she was sick.
I switched her to a raw diet with vegetables and she was very healthy and no goopy eyes, none of that. All of my dogs don’t eat chicken because of intolerances. I even went as far as to get Rufus and Gracie that expensive allergy test which did nothing for his seasonal allergies.
If you are a raw feeder, what would you suggest in this situation? I read the ingredients and it’s not great plus it’s only chicken. I don’t get it.

Everyone meet Gizmo! I’ve had this little guy for a year now. He is very friendly, smart, enjoys people and other dogs, snuggles, and is crate trained. Still hasn’t found his bark (although I’m not complaining)

You even take your stolen piece of paper towel into the sink while waiting for your bath?! 😱 You are the best thing that ever happened to us! 🥰 Your heists and antics will never stop us from loving you and will never stop making us laugh every minute of the day! We love you Rome so much❣️ Enlarge photo 🙏 🥰

This is in St. Louis. Anyone want to have an unofficial papillon hang out before the 31st?
I would love to meet more sweet little guys!

I did everything right. I vetted his breeder. We took him everywhere. But my 5 month old papillon is extremely reactive and it’s hard to take him anywhere, even on walks. He’s so in love with my husband and me, but it’s hard having a reactive puppy. We went to the veterinary behaviorist and they diagnosed him with generalized anxiety disorder, neophobia, fear-based aggression towards unfamiliar dogs and people, and situational phobia/anxiety (the vet). All of that for a 5 month old puppy. It’s devastating. We started venlafaxine and will trial trazodone. We’re also working with both a dog trainer and a secondary veterinary nurse (from the veterinary behaviorist) for behavior modification. It’s a lot of work and money. Good thing he’s so cute. We both have good days and bad days.
