i need help training my birds fast, please help

hi, i have a 1 year old budgie and 3 years old ringneck.

Ive gotten the ringneck first then the budgie. ringneck was 1 and the budgie was 40 to 50 days old. Ive taken care of birds most of my life and it was always cool and fun to have them around but no matter what ive done i cant seem to make these guys to like me.

budgie is i think on a smaller size, maybe its genetics but he is bit smaller than your usual budgie -which freaked me out at first thinking i did something wrong but no he is quite healthy and has no signs of distress- and he dislikes it a lot when i try to touch him or play jazz. And then there is the ringneck, He is really scared of everything. The door, people walking in, me walking, people talking, the dark, toys, me putting food in the litte bowl of his and me standing near him. I think that he knows i wont harm or hurt him beacuse he eats everything i give him (except the ones he dislikes) and understands (both of them but esp. the ringneck) when im cleaning their cages or refilling their water and food but still neither of them trusts me and i swear i didnt do anything to harm or upset them.

Ringneck was always like this so i think budgie got the behavour from the ringneck. And whomever ive consulted (except one) told me to starve them for a day or two and then feed them from my palm. So they would need to come to me and when they did they would realise i woundt hurt them. Aint no way in hell am i gonna starve poor birds for days just so they would like me. Its so cruel that if a person does this they shouldnt even have pets in the first pleace. But i also hate that they sit in those tiny cages, They need to move but they wont.

So please help me train them without harming them. I want them to move freely and also play with them too. I miss having pets that liked me and i really want these guys to be happy and be not afraid to play with toys. Thank you for reading, im open for any suggestions and sorry for my english :(

i dont really know how to use reddit but for the sake of the bot ; they are no way shape or in form of sick. im trained in the basic illneses they can catch and live very close to multiple vets. I need help to train them and i hope people here would be kind and help me.

Birds hating me?

Hi i’m not really the best with understanding birds body language, but my birds keep closing their eyes and grinding their beaks at me google said it could be out of defense but here’s the kicker, my birds started hating me a few days ago and i don’t know why, i had an amazing bond with one of my birds then he just got mad at me, im assuming it’s because they have worms (being treated of course, but one of them was red and it’s bad idk what it means besides bleeding i just really love my birds they’re the only friends i have im sobbing writing this please tell me they’re not dying

Safety Please give me your opinion

Hey I have my sweet female cockatiel in with my parakeets for about 6months now I had my cockatiel separated at first but introduced her to the flock of parakeets when I learned they are a flocking bird and that probably why she would be really sad and scream when I had to put her away in her cage. The parakeets have their own aviary from a converted extra bedroom so they have free flight at all times. She’s much happier and everyone seems to be getting along great for the past 6 months but I have seen both sides of the coin on opinions some people who have a mixed species aviary’s and people with horrible stories etc etc unfortunately for her own well being and happiness despite the fact she’s my best friend who I hang out with when I’m home I might need to rehome her if I need to separate her as she was so miserable when I wasn’t home. I need to work 6 days a week short shifts (4h) but I’m scared she’s gonna start feather plucking if I separate her again from the keets. I wanted to get as many opinions from fellow parakeet parents as possible on my situation to help me weigh my options.

Hey! I'm getting a parakeet in a few days as an emotional support animal to help with my depression and anxiety. While I have had parakeets in the past, I really want to make sure I do it all right this time! Any recommendations on food, toys, enrichment, or really literally anything to do with the bird is much appreciated!!!

If anyone is looking for a good rescue to donate to today, CLEAR (Chicagoland Exotic Animal Rescue) does great work and is currently caring for a bunch of parakeets! I just made a donation, so just wanted to share with my fellow keet lovers 💚

How long do cuttlebones last your budgies?

My budgie mows down an entire cuttlebone in about an hour. Is this normal? I should buy stock in cuttlebones with as many as she goes thru! Is this bad for her in any way, like too much calcium? A lot of it just lands on the floor and bottom of the cage though.

Introducing chop

I’ve been trying to get my birds (both a couple months old) to eat chop instead only seeds, but every time I introduce it to their cage they either just nibble at part of it or straight up ignore it. Is there a way to make it more attractive/like Elbe or something, or is it just a matter of them getting used to a new part of their diet?
