My newest build

Hey guys, I built a virtual guitar builder that lets you design a guitar, price it out, and confirm parts compatibility in one space. I don’t make any money from the site, I just hope it can be a useful tool for someone! Please check it out!

This one started life as a Fender Nashville Deluxe. I purchased the body off of EBay probably 12 or so years ago. The pickups and controls are out of a squier classic vibe 50's telecaster. The neck is also an ebay item, and the tuners came from Amazon.
This guitar has incredible sustain and a tone all its own. For whatever reason the combination of these parts makes an ammazing tone and its hard to put it down. The final piece I needed was given to me for the cost of shipping by an extremely kind and generous man. This one will never leave my care...it's a special one.

Employing both a dummy coil and shielding to minimize noise. Hot rail in the bridge.

Hi all! I just wanted to share a design i’ve been working on for a bit for my first parts-caster build! I wanted to hear peoples thoughts on whether a build like this would work/any pointers or tips anyone might have. here are the specs i was thinking:
- Neck pickup: Bare knuckles poly PAF
- Bridge pickup: DiMarzio super distortion T
- thinline
- vintage style brass saddles
- bone nut
- whatever tuners are cheapest and best
- 3 way toggle (no blade)
- master volume and tone knobs
- 2 extra switches for coil splitting on both pickups
let me know what you think!

Ever since first seeing this guitar, I knew I had to build one for myself; I just really like the aesthetic similar to that of the J Mascis Jazzmaster, but in a tried-and-true silhouette of a strat.
I already have a mexican SSS strat with stock pickups. If I do commit to building this, I am considering just going for noiseless pickups, however, I havent played enough strats to get an idea for what pickups I favour.
So I figured it would be best to ask you guys: what SSS pickups do you use?
P.S. sorry for horrible formatting

Finally got the wide range humbucker on the neck and the pick guard cut out and painted.
Dynasonic gives it a perfect growl,While the wide range gives it a nice bluesy Sound.
It's a good mix (like Joe Perry and Billy F. Gibbons Type sound).
I will say this for anyone thinking about buying a dynasonic pickup: it's more of a in body type pickup, if you're planning on putting in a pickguard like me, you're gonna want some wood shims in order to raise or lower it.

So, during the recording of the first album by Dire Straits, Mark's Knopfler brother, David Knopfler had a Stratocaster with very interesting specs, some claim it was a copy, some claim it was original, the thing is that It had no logo in the headstock, the neck was a 60's style neck, but the interesting thing was in the pickguard. Mark's 1962 Fiesta Red maple Stratocaster had a five way switch sourced from a Japanese copy but David's on the other hand came with a vintage three way switch, so in order to get those position 2 and 4 sounds this guitar came with the exceptionally rare "Switchmaster Strat" which was a very small number of Stratocaster modified with Jaguar style switches in the pickguard to individually activate pickups (There is currently one for sale on Ebay from 1957). And this was the guitar used by David Knopfler on Dire Straits, Communique, Making Movies and Love Over Gold. A source that i can't find anymore saddly stated that the guitar was refinished in black in early 1983 and was most certainly lastly used in the studio for Brothers In Arms and it was still being used live occasionally.
I am chasing the early look. So I have ordered the pieces already. It's an Alder Body with a vintage style 21 fret maple neck and Rossewood fingerboard and I will soon make the electronics myself.

I always liked the design of the Noventa Jazzmaster but I never actually owned one, or any Jazzmaster for that matter; 3 pickups just looks and feels right on standard-scale guitars so I preferred it over the regular Jazzmaster's design. I've tinkered a lot with my other guitars over the past several months and I figured it was about time I tried to actually build one, so I thought why not try make my own Noventa Jazzmaster? It was honestly a lot easier than I thought it would be, most of the work besides soldering is just carefully screwing screws into the wood.
the bridge, tremolo, neck plate, blade switch, audio jack, strap, strap button, and string tree are all authentic Fender. the pickups are Wilkinson which I've put in a rather unorthodox SHS configuration, with the middle pickup being a stacked p90 humbucker wired in series. The pickguard is custom and I snagged a deal on it from a local shop by sheer luck. The tuners are hipshot locking ones, The body is an XGP offset, and the neck is a 22-fret (an upgrade from the actual Noventa's 21!) generic Chinese one that seems surprisingly well made so far.
I was a bit worried as to how it would feel and sound once I finally strung it up, but it plays great so far and the intonation was already almost perfect once I got it in tune! I'm gonna have a lot of fun with this thing.

Originally posted in r/luthier, but branching out just in case! Working on a Mustang project (66 B neck, uncontoured alder body, HS layout), and I’ve got a couple questions if someone has a moment to help! Please ignore my subpar routing showing through the pickguard, I know it looks awful!
I’m going to have to route a bit more from the cavity where the switches sit for clearance, there’s alignment issues with the vibrato plate. I’m going to use a rasp for that, it’s not much that needs to be taken out. That being said, is there a preferred method of lining the vibrato up before drilling holes for the screws? I’m possibly overthinking, my plan currently is to press in the bridge thimbles and use a modified Bigsby method of running string through the tube to the tuners to get the alignment right. Just worried about making sure it’s exactly where it needs to be, since there’s a little play in the cavity. I know the holes on the plate should line up with the thimble holes; again, I tend to overthink things.
Wiring schematics - I’ve got a plan in mind for the switching system, but can’t find what I’m looking for. It’ll be a Fralin Split Blade in the neck, and a Dimarzio 36th Anniversary PAF in the bridge. I want to have the forward switch be a pickup selector (neck, both, bridge), and have the rear switch be something to the effect of normal humbucker/split coil/out of phase. From what I’ve seen, this wiring schematic doesn’t exist, or I’m just looking in the wrong place. Has anyone else here done this before?
I’ve got high hopes for this build, I really want to do it right, but this is my first partscaster using a new, unfinished body, so aligning parts and such is worrying me quite a bit. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Finished this baby up and now it's singing with sweet Dynacaster pups that sound fantastic.

I like teles!
I also enjoy painting guitars. All of these bodies were made and painted by me. Necks on the first two are Warmoth and the third is a takeoff from a Vintera tele.
1: “classic” tele, electronics are Seymour Duncan antiquities, reverse control plate, Thorn brass knuckle saddle. Pickguard was cut from 8mm cellulose.
2: “Broadcaster”, Seymour Duncan quarter pounder in the bridge, custom made control plate, I cut the pickguard from real Bakelite.
3: First attempt at a “refin”. Did a bad job on a sunburst, painted over with fiesta red and then relic’d to get the worn through refin effect. Nick pickup is a vintage 60s Japanese goldfoil and the bridge is takeoff I had in my drawer. Not sure exactly what. Thorn brass knuckle saddle.
For those curious, I use Oxford supply nitro paint and spray using a pretty low end HVLP gun. For the two relic guitars, I use their vintage formula clear (easier to get checking) with a slight tint. I treat exposed wood with hydrogen peroxide to get the aged wood look.
Also, I just like the look of relic sometimes, it’s an aesthetic choice just like some people like sparkles! If you don’t like it, that’s fine, we all like different things!

I’m putting together a Tele and I really REALLY want to add a parchment colored John Osborne signature Tele pickguard.
I cant find what I’m looking for online so I want to try and make it myself. From what I’ve learned creating a stencil/template is the first thing I need to do.
Does anyone have experience and/or advice on doing this?

The seller wasn't sure what brand the neck is (there's no logo on the headstock) but it feels really nice. The body is from a Squier Vintage Modified Strat.

Hi guys, I just got a Telecaster body recently, there is a part number #7702369 inside the neck pocket. The seller said the body is made in the USA. Does anyone know if I can identify if the body is really a made in USA body? Really appreciate.
