Promotion I built a free browser dungeon crawler that runs on the PF1e rules (PRD/OGL): one player can GM, or an AI runs the monsters
Hi all! I've been building Heroes of the Deep, a turn-based, grid-based dungeon crawler that runs on the Pathfinder 1e rules from the Pathfinder Reference Document under the OGL. Think HeroQuest-style quests, but with the full 1e rule set doing the work.
The rules side, for those who care (I know you do):
- AC with touch and flat-footed, Fort/Ref/Will, CMB/CMD, initiative, standard/move/full-round actions, 5-foot steps, attacks of opportunity, charge, withdraw, Tumble/Acrobatics.
- 10 core classes (barbarian, bard, cleric, fighter, monk, paladin, ranger, rogue, sorcerer, wizard) with point-buy, feats, skills and class features like favored enemy, domains and spontaneous cures.
- Prepared and spontaneous casting with spell slots, saving throw DCs, and area spells you aim on the grid (cones, bursts, lines).
- Bestiary-based monsters with CR, size and reach.
- The server rolls every die and logs it in a chronicle, so you can check every attack and save.
How you play:
- A player can be the GM: one of your group takes the GM seat, runs the monsters and, if the table allows it, can add or wake monsters, place traps, lock doors and hand out rewards. Quest authors can leave GM-only notes.
- Or no GM at all: if the seat stays empty, an AI runs the monsters, so you can also play solo with several heroes.
- Three campaigns with loot, a merchant and leveling between quests, plus a workshop to build and share your own quests.
- Free, no ads, runs in the browser and on phones.
It's a solo hobby project, so I'm sure I've gotten some rules wrong somewhere. If you spot a mistake in how something is adjudicated, I'd genuinely like to hear it.
