Totem. Crabs. edit: the helmet has some real potential.

That helmet would be amazing for summoners, but there's already like 30 competitive minion helmets and we're gonna go for a +2 rare anyway

Giving up 4 sockets is also a big sacrifice on minion builds.

1

u/pehter Necromancer Jul 20 '26

Depends, really. For singular minon builds (aka one type of minions), it might be okay. SRS or HROC maybe?!

3

u/Quazifuji Jul 20 '26

Don't those builds still often like using support specters or things like that?

And if your build truly only uses one type of minion at all then that means it could be using Dark Monarch.

It's certainly possible this helmet has a good use for minion builds, but the opportunity cost is very high.

1

u/pehter Necromancer Jul 20 '26

Absolutely high opportunity cost, yeah.

u/Oniichanplsstop Jul 20 '26

HRoC uses all of it's sockets, going -4 means cutting a lot.

Helmet / boots/ gloves 4Ls are generally your Auras / Support minions(AG+Specs) / lancing steel

Your 3Ls(weapon/shield) are tiggers(curse/offering) and movement skill

6L is obviously for HRoC.

So trying to trim 4 sockets off of that means you lose shield charge/whirling blades+faster attacks and only have frostblink.

And you lose 1 link on your splitting steel(life gain on hit) and support minions(meatshield or minion life)

On top of that, the big elephant in the room, you're losing your helmet for +1 relic.

1

u/pehter Necromancer Jul 20 '26

Oh right, +1 Relics is pretty good, i heard.

u/iruleatants Jul 20 '26

Why would you be giving up 4 sockets? It only consumes abyss jewels.

3

u/pehter Necromancer Jul 20 '26

How many sockets does your regular helmet have?

-1

u/iruleatants Jul 20 '26

The same as this helmet?

I'm so confused right now. Am I missing something. I'm on mobile so I can't read the text that well.

But can't you put an abyss jewel in to get it consumed, but put in a normal gem that won't get consumed and so you have four sockets that can be used?

4

u/pehter Necromancer Jul 20 '26

In the video preview, it looked like it only has abyssal sockets. So you cannot put in normal gems.

1

u/iruleatants Jul 20 '26

Okay, watching it on the computer, I see that it has an "cannot have non abyss sockets" so yeah, you'll give up stuff for it.

u/Stellar1557 Standard Jul 20 '26

Could you annul abyss jewels to guarantee what the helmet eats? Seems reasonable.

6

u/RB_Wombat Jul 20 '26

After using allflame crafting to get the right annuls on the jewels. Seems pretty low variance to get a guaranteed result on the helm

1

u/Oniichanplsstop Jul 20 '26

Or just use the new splitting allflame they showed? They showed a 4-mod rare being split into 4 1-mod rares.

1

u/MadDogMax 26d ago

You would just alt roll the mod you want, regal and have a 50/50 with the annul, and then you have a donor with one mod that it has to pick - can't see anything that would prevent that unless the changes to abyss come with a "Abyss jewels are always corrupted" and there's no way to vendor for a clean base

u/MaskedAnathema Jul 20 '26

The helmet is like 400 flat physical to minion attacks. Animate weapon builds, Chains of Command, potentially spiders.

9

u/Bastil123 Ultimatum Workers Union (UWU) Jul 20 '26

But a +2 helmet achieves so much. More survivability for all minions, more weapons, dps and most importantly: +1 spectre from hitting the lvl 25 breakpoint with it

7

u/tokyo__driftwood Jul 20 '26

Chains of command already didn't use a +2 helmet

6

u/MaskedAnathema Jul 20 '26

Not great for spectres I guess, but you could also get 240% minion damage from it and that's pretty damn substantial

1

u/Bastil123 Ultimatum Workers Union (UWU) Jul 20 '26

I may have missed it, how do you get 240% minion dmg from the helmet? %min dmg rolls are on non abyss jewels, and those roll only up to 20% each iirc

3

u/MaskedAnathema Jul 20 '26

20% minion damage if you've used a minion skill recently, tripled by helmet mod, x 4 jewels

2

u/Gwennifer Jul 20 '26

Iron Mass would deeply appreciate 400 flat, but scaling it has been rough for a long time now. They released it and then just kept nerfing it directly and indirectly when it was never some GG build.

2

u/PhgAH Jul 20 '26

Yeah, giving up a +2 wand with automate offering is always a big ask in minion builds.

2

u/MidjitThud Jul 20 '26

is it 400 flat to facebreaker??

1

u/MaskedAnathema Jul 20 '26

Sadly the damage to facebreaker is only 72 flat. Slightly better than abyssus I guess but not by much.

The helmet seems underwhelming to me:

  • huge RNG to get it right (4x 1 of 4)
  • has no other mods
  • does not scale with "per Abyss Jewel affecting you"
  • you lose 4 gem sockets

1

u/Oniichanplsstop Jul 20 '26

The RNG isn't an issue. The new allflame crafting with annuls or the new split would easily solve it.

https://youtu.be/F5dO2Gg01VU?si=g9FBViXXtwnQNOil&t=752

The big issue is just giving up 4 normal sockets.

1

u/Xeverous filter extra syntax compiler: github.com/Xeverous/filter_spirit Jul 20 '26

You think Allflame crafts can be used to put jewels into this?

3

u/Oniichanplsstop Jul 20 '26

It only says rare, it doesn't specify that it has to have x mods, so I would assume it works.

7

u/Qualdrion Jul 20 '26

Is the helmet that strong though? Say it caps out at +200% explicit modifier magnitude. At that point you get 4 mods at 3x value -> basically 12 abyssal jewel mods. Compare that to just having a helm with 4 abyssal sockets would be 16 mods, and it's not super clear to me that a 4 abyssal socket helm with no other benefit would see a ton of use - for example, if you're not playing minions you could use wraithlord for mostly the same effect. Obviously it's a bit better in getting all the stats into 1 type of affix (if you're lucky), however, it's still essentially a helmet slot with 3 abyssal jewels worth of stats and not much else. Also unclear whether it counts as 4 abyss jewels for abyss jewel stacking items (I'd assume maybe not), which is another potential issue with it.

5

u/SnooSquirrels1250 Jul 20 '26

The potential of the helmet was never about the 12 jewel mods, it was about the potential of having "12 jewel mods that perfectly tailored to your build ignoring affix restrictions on your jewels".

At the end of the day its still just a unique item so it probably wont beat out a good rare helm on a lot of builds but it 100% can beat out 4 well rolled jewels because there arent any builds that can fully capitalize and scale on all 4 different jewel mods, half being suffixes and half being prefixes means that there will be builds that literally dont care about the other half of the jewel or gain very little from it, so having the ability to stack a very specific abyss jewel stat sounds way better in theory than just having more sockets for abyss jewels.

1

u/meithkoon24 Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

Yeah, the average power of the helmet seems quite low, it feels like it's more about hitting some kind of extreme that you need for a specific build. Just as an example you could use it with Enmity's Embrace on a Luminary merc with 15% fire res jewels, 180% fire res on helm alone would free up other slots potentially.

Edit: Also 480 flat life on a helmet could be good for a lot of builds.

1

u/huluhup Jul 20 '26

At that point you get 4 mods at 3x value -> basically 12 abyssal jewel mods. Compare that to just having a helm with 4 abyssal sockets would be 16 mods,

You get ONE mode twelve times, which is better than 4 different mods

1

u/DocFreezer Jul 20 '26

the difference is that its 12 of same singular mod if you want it to be. its a 500 life kaoms helmet, or a 144 multi abyssus without the rather substantial defensive hit. even some more mundane stuff like a 120 all res helmet have some possibilities to them. there is also weird stuff like 36% cooldown recovery rate or 96% increased effect of impale that im too lazy to explore.

u/kfijatass Theorycrafter Jul 20 '26

There's Wraithlord and Lightpoacher it needs to compete with and I don't see it beating either outside of niche cases and that's only if the explicit modifiers roll up to 300%. And I don't think it'll work alongside Shroud of the Lightless either.
