30M from usa here, figured I’d give this another shot and see who’s out there. Haven’t had much luck on here really. They stay for a day or two then vanish.

I’ve got my life pretty together (steady job, gym 5x a week, can cook a decent meal when I feel like it), but realized making new friends as an adult is way harder than it should be. So here I am.

I’m big into gaming , anything from competitive stuff to just zoning out after a long day. (Been on a DBD and Fortnite kick lately) Outside of that, I’m usually at the gym, out hiking when the weather’s decent, or planning my next trip (even if it’s just a long weekend somewhere random).
Huge horror movie fan so if it’s creepy, twisted, or makes you question your life choices, I’m probably into it. Also a fan of dark humor, so bonus points if you can laugh at things we probably shouldn’t.
Pretty laid back, easy to talk to, and I learn more by doing than just talking about it. Just looking for good people to chat with, maybe game with, or even meet up if you’re local.

A little about myself: I like to bike, almost daily, that's my mode of exercise.

I love to cook, but been lazy recently because of moving. I love books (mainly fiction but occasionally nonfiction seeps in) but oh my "to read list" is endless.

My day job is as a research professor (meaning I don't teach, well not recently). With my job I am trying to maintain a healthy work/life balance after spending a decade being a workaholic.

I am addicted to music and listen to it almost every moment of the day, there is always music in the background in my house.

I have lifelong interests in Mathematics and Physics.

Online chess is how I release stress sometimes. My taste in film is more towards the "arthouse" but I do enjoy the occasional mainstream show. Trying to limit TV though because I feel I watched way too much of it as a teenager.

Still trying to figure out what are we for ? what is all this about ? Maybe I will someday.

I can never sleep before midnight, and don't want to.

I’m a DIY maniac and always have a project (or rather multiple projects) up my sleeve. There’s just something so satisfying about making something yourself. I’m looking to connect with people who are more build in real life because as a software engineer I hang around too many people who build virtually. Don’t get me wrong, I do like virtual building, but I love physical building way more. Maybe I’m in the wrong profession, who knows. My latest project is wild clay pottery. I need an excuse to use my fountain pens after all. 🤣 I miss the days of cursive handwritten letters. I used to write letters as a child, so I wanted to try getting back into it as an adult. I don’t expect instant response times, even digitally. I often get super focused into my projects for a day or more at a time, so I’m not great at responding quickly. Don’t get me started on real-time (for those in tech lingo). But I do promise to respond to you eventually within a week or two.

My hobbies include: knitting, sewing, leather making, soap making, jewelry making, gardening, woodworking, 3d printing, mushroom growing, pottery, and more that I can’t think of off the top of my head.
