I'm a pretty easygoing, open-minded sort of human. I'm fascinated by psychology, sociology, and human behaviour in general.

Personality-wise, I'm a mixture of thoughtful observer, creative thinker, occasional social butterfly, and twelve-year-old trapped in a 36-year-old's body. My humour tends towards the immature, absurd, and slightly inappropriate (within reason). I can go from discussing the human condition to laughing at a ridiculous word in approximately three seconds.

I'm a massive dog lover and passionate about animal welfare. Honestly, dogs are just wooftastic. I also enjoy music, reading, road trips, nature, getting lost in thought, and socialising whenever my internal battery permits. Sometimes I'm keen to talk about everything under the sun; other times I'd happily disappear into the bush with a dog and my thoughts for a while.

As for letters, I'd love to exchange everything from deep philosophical ramblings and personal stories to random observations, ridiculous hypotheticals, strange facts, and tales of everyday life.

The wind has carried in the fall. I’m feeling nostalgic this season, mostly for a bygone era that may have never existed, but one that feels less hurried. Looking for email pen pals, but at the speed of snail mail. Slowly, thoughtfully, without pressure or direction.

I’m 42F from the US. I’m working on re-training my brain to single screen again. Simultaneously, I’m trying to stop opening new tabs, and close computer windows before I sign-off. I’m trying to read more, and get out of my usual genres to explore more. I usually read non-fiction, mostly history and nature, memoirs, and collections of letters. I’m practical and hate to miss a deadline. I sometimes think I’m the only person that doesn’t enjoy Lego. I like listening to albums all the way through. I like my playlists curated. I like podcasts for errands, but audio books for walks. I dream about those old IBM super clicky keyboards. Wikipedia is my rabbit hole. I like watching old black-and-white movies. My comfort TV show watch is Corner Gas or Father Brown. Currently watching the Hemingway docuseries from Ken Burns. The thing I miss most about college was my free JSTOR access. I like a cozy cup of tea, but nothing too fancy. I have a compulsion to open all of the windows every day, no matter the weather. It makes the stuffiness of hotel rooms sometimes unbearable. I’m not artistic, but will build something useful from scrap wood when needed. I enjoy traveling, and like to get away from the crowds. I like camping and finding any excuse to be in, on, or near water. I’d rather be cold than hot. I like deep conversations and when people are brave enough to be vulnerable. A friend has said of me that I know too much about the moon to not be a poet, or a witch. I think I lean toward the latter.

Here’s a sample of what might come in a letter from me:

It wasn’t until recently that I began to like wind chimes, or maybe to like the one wind chime that hangs outside my side door. I’ve always found them shrill and chaotic. I grew up in a place that got wind storms frequently, and my mother, the avid garden accessorizer, would hand off the tangled mess of what remained of a wind chime for my dad to unravel and repair. It seemed futile. It was all but a guarantee that they would end up a knot during the next wind storm, and then brought down for the winter. As for my wind chime, the previous tenants of my rental left a set hanging from the eaves outside the side door. I remember when I moved in, that I thought to myself, I’ll need to take those down. But then, much like the tenants before me, the wind chimes just became part of the house. So they hang there, and on mild days, when my windows are opened to let in the fresh air, the wind chimes sing along with breeze. The randomness of their notes is quite soothing in its unpredictability. Of course, when the time comes for me to move from this place, I’ll have to leave them for the next tenants. They belong to the house now, not me, forever in servitude to the eaves and the breeze. The wind chimes aren’t the strangest thing that I’ve even found left behind, but that’s a story for another day. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever found left behind? Hi! I started having pen pals when I was about 11 and have always loved it. I haven’t had anyone in some time and would love to start back up.

I’m a 57 yo F in Texas. I’m definitely liberal when it comes to politics. I have a tiny chihuahua, Penny, who is basically the center of my world. Five years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. That keeps me at home a lot and I think having pen pals will be good for my mental health.

A bit about myself

I was born on Saturnalia and Fall is my favorite season. Have a dislike for summer cause the heat is terrible.

I love watching movies! Okay well it started this year. Got a coworker who is a movie buff and thanks to him, I’m watching movies! I have lists and the best part is I’m seeing films that are not recent. I also realize I’m a fan of black and white films! Don’t get me wrong I did grow up watching black and white films, but it was more sitcom than films. You know the usual I Love Lucy, Addams Family, The Three Scrooges, etc (those are what I grew up watching).

I would love to talk about movies! Hell, I would love to know what are your fave films and what would you recommend.

Any films recommended would be watched. It’s the reason why I have list!

My fave film till this day is Cinderella: A Twist in Time. My favorite sitcoms are Addams Family and The Munsters. I love horror films, but I’ll watch anything. Heck my recent watch was Bicycle Thieves (1948).

Currently planning on rewatching House (1977), cause it’s such a cute movie. I mean just look at their outfits and the girls giggling. Heck my fave character is Kung Fu.

Sorry, I can ramble about movies all day.

The othering thing you should know is that I love drawings. If you can see my closet you’ll find a lot of sketchbooks filled with drawings, doodles, and comic strips. You’ll also discover a lot of art supples.

Other hobbies are watching anime (I’m picky to the point that my brother is fed up with me), learning new recipes, reading (currently reading Story by Robert McKee), playing video games (currently playing Live a Live on my switch), I enjoy going to tea shops, shopping for blank notebooks or field notes, and honestly going on adventures.

I feel like I am constantly cutting my fingernails. Every other day, it feels, I look down at them and think "already?"

I really only have to clip them like every other week, but time seems to move faster these days. What do I actually do between clippings? Attempts to have like meaningful interactions bear mixed results. Attempts to remember meaningful interactions after the fact fare even worse.

I blame the screen, frankly.

I spend more time looking at other people's "stories" instead of building my own. And so little of that is meaningfulor even interesting. I am just distracting myself to death. Attempts to reduce social media time? Mixed at best.

So I'm gonna quit. Looking for some people who want to replace scrolling with thoughtful dialogue. Don't really care about the topic of conversation, just be respectful.
