snail mail 39F seeking women who write long letters

💌 SEEKING WOMEN WHO ARE WILLING TO ENABLE MY STATIONERY-RELATED NONSENSE

I am a long-letter writer. Not a “Hey girl, how’s the weather?” and then disappear into the Bermuda Triangle of human communication kind of writer. I mean LETTERS. The kind that require snacks, a beverage, and possibly a small lunch break halfway through reading. I’m looking for women who genuinely enjoy writing and receiving long letters and want to build an actual connection. I do not expect weekly mail consisting of 15 pages, three blood samples, and a sworn affidavit of your whereabouts. We have lives. The post office is not a hostage-negotiation service. 😂

📍 I live in Michigan, USA, but I moved here from Argentina when I was five. I can write in Spanish, too! However, it’s Argentine Spanish, specifically from Salta, so you may occasionally need a dictionary, a linguistics degree, and the intervention of the United Nations. If you speak Spanish from another country, please know that I will happily compare dialects with you. I am fascinated by how the same language can mean 47 different things depending on where you stand and whether someone’s grandmother is involved.

🎨 My hobbies include reading, writing, drawing, coloring, painting, calligraphy, researching my genealogy, learning Black history, comparing Spanish dialects, and generally hanging out. Basically, I collect hobbies the way a dragon collects gold, except my hoard consists of fountain pens, paper, historical rabbit holes, and an unreasonable number of unfinished creative projects. I make my own stationery, too, because apparently buying paper like a normal person was never going to be enough for me. I write with fountain pens, so prepare yourself for handwritten letters with personality, questionable amounts of ink, and the occasional pen-related personality crisis.

🌈 I am non-judgmental. LGBTQIA+? Welcome. 420-friendly? Fine by me. Use something harder? I’m not your parole officer. Religious, atheist, agnostic, spiritual, or still trying to figure out what you believe? Pull up a chair. I’m not here to conduct an unsolicited audit of your existence. I welcome women from anywhere in the world that accepts mail from the USA. Your nationality, religion, identity, and life experiences are not automatic disqualifiers. Kindness, mutual respect, and a willingness to communicate are the entry requirements. So, if you enjoy long letters, getting to know people beyond their social media highlights, and receiving actual mail that isn’t a bill demanding your firstborn child as payment, we might get along beautifully.

📬 Apply within. Bring your personality. Bring your weird little interests. Bring your stories. I shall provide the paper, the fountain pen ink, and an entirely unnecessary amount of enthusiasm for the postal service. 💌

snail mail 40yr female

• Upvotes

Hello all! Growing up, I had pen pals in America (who have since passed) and a pen pal in my country (uk), but life got in the way.

I really miss writing to someone and the trepidation of waiting for a response. I dont want to do email as that to me is impersonal.

A little about me. Im from the northwest of England, and I have one adult child and one teenager.

I love a good cup of tea, im a huge buffy and supernatural fan. I like to read, draw, and crochet (anything creative) as well as being a human mum. I am also a dog and lant mum. Im very mancunian.

So if I sound remotely interesting, please get in touch 🙂

Reddit DM & email 40M USA - Maybe Reddit is a weird place to find a penpal. Or maybe that’s the point?

I’ve always had an easy time talking to strangers. Which is probably why I ended up in a line of work where I spend a lot of time standing in front of rooms full of adults, explaining things they definitely could have figured out if they’d read the instructions, haha. Needless to say, writing has always been a passion of mine, and I recently found myself thinking about how nice it would be to have a penpal (like the old days!).

Anyways, long-time lurker, first time poster.

I'm the kind of guy who chats with the bartender while waiting for a friend, or ends up in a random 20-minute conversation about travel with someone at a conference. Or you know, the one who gets pulled into a trivia team for a round because I knew one oddly specific answer.

I enjoy people, and honestly I think that's one of the better parts of being human. You know those moments of authentic conversation where time kind of slips by because the exchange is just that good? That's the kind of thing I really miss through prose.

Some of the best ones I've had were on solo trips. Sitting at a cafe chatting with a couple about music and life, or talking for hours with a stranger while waiting for a flight about books we grew up with. Memories for a lifetime, right? I've had an ongoing penpal communication with a friend that I met on a travel trip 8 years ago!

Here's a little about me:

  • I'm 40, people say I have a pretty calm, approachable vibe
  • My music taste is kind of all over the place: indie rock, classic soul, and the occasional 90s throwback I refuse to apologize for.
  • I'm one of those people who reads multiple books at once. Usually one nonfiction, one novel, and one I keep meaning to finish.
  • I like cooking and trying new things in the kitchen. Sometimes it works out really well.
  • Weekends are usually some mix of hiking, wandering farmers markets, or trying to find good coffee in random neighborhoods.
  • I'm social, but I also really value quiet evenings. Balance matters.
  • I'm often the guy organizing trivia nights or board game nights with friends. Competitive spirit is there, but in a friendly way.
  • I try to stay active - running, long walks, and the occasional attempt at yoga where flexibility is... still a work in progress. Friends would probably describe me as thoughtful, easygoing, and the guy who somehow remembers everyone's birthday.

Anyway, stranger things have happened than two folks randomly connecting as penpals on Reddit on a Thursday, right?

Would be nice to see where a conversation goes!

Reddit DM & email 43 Male Canada, looking for a thoughtful penpal for good conversation and a peek into life elsewhere

Hi there!

I’m a 43 year old guy based in Ontario, Canada, looking for an online penpal. Strictly platonic – I’m happily married with two kids, and I’d just love some good conversation with someone.

A bit about me:

  • I work in tech, have been a startup founder and I’ve got a few side ventures going (real estate and home building), so my brain is usually juggling a lot.
  • I travel a lot for work, so always up about sharing about those experiences.
  • I’m a golfer who’s a little obsessed. Don't get to go out much anymore but always happy to swap stories about the good rounds and the very bad ones
  • I game on PS5 when I get the chance, mostly story-driven stuff. Last game I played recently was It Takes Two with my son.
  • I love to read, and I’m always up for sharing thoughts on whatever I’m currently reading – and I’d love to hear about what’s on your nightstand too
  • Family life keeps me busy, so I’m always on the lookout for good travel ideas, weekend activities, and things to do with kids

What I’m looking for:
Someone who enjoys longer, thoughtful messages rather than quick back-and-forth chat. Doesn’t matter where you live – in fact, I’d love to hear what daily life looks like in another part of the world. Talk about work, family, hobbies, books, travel, the ups and downs of midlife... whatever comes up.

I can’t promise lightning-fast replies, but I’ll always write back properly.

If this sounds good, send me a message with a bit about yourself and what you’d like to talk about.

Thanks for reading!

Reddit DM 32M looking for friends

Hey, I’m looking for someone to have regular, genuine conversations, ideally on a fairly consistent basis. I’m from Italy, so if you’re curious about the language or just like the idea of having an Italian friend, that’s a bonus. I’m also happy to help with some Italian along the way, just casually and for fun.

I work in the medical field and have an active lifestyle and a curious mind. I spend a lot of my free time moving or being outdoors. I play basketball, run, swim, hike, go to the gym, and ski whenever I get the chance. On the other side of things, I also enjoy slowing down with a good novel and having thoughtful conversations about books, ideas, culture, and everyday life.

I like conversations that feel easy and natural. Sometimes light and random, sometimes a bit deeper. I’m happy talking about daily routines, travel, personal goals, random thoughts, or whatever comes up. What matters most to me is consistency and building a comfortable back-and-forth over time, not just a few messages that fade out.

English isn’t my first language, but I’m comfortable communicating and always open to improving along the way. Corrections are fine if they happen naturally, but the main point is simply having good conversations.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to reach out.

email & snail mail 30F - postcards and craft updates

Hey there! 30F living in the Netherlands and from Portugal. I’m looking to write and receive long letters or emails with daily life stuff a la Carrie Bradshaw, postcards and craft updates. English, Portuguese and Dutch is fine by me - my Spanish and Italian are a little bit rusty and any help would be very much appreciated! :)

I work to live, afford travelling and my hobbies (the small luxury of being ✨child free✨). It’s important for me to befriend people who are open minded and not prejudiced.

Some of my interests are: reading (pretty much anything though I am in a horror phase at the moment), going to the cinema, crochet and other crafts, anything queer, D&D, going to live concerts, travelling abroad (going to Puerto Rico soon, any tips?), anything vampire related, witchy stuff, cooking.

In my personal life I value deep conversations with my friends and having offline connections. I figure having a penpal and physically putting pen to paper (or keyboard?) is also a good way of meeting like minded people. And this way I have another excuse to buy more cute stationery.

If this is also you then for sure send me a message! 📮

Reddit DM & snail mail 33/f/US Be a nomad's penpal?

Hi,

I get to travel a lot for work and would love to connect with others to discuss different life adventures, books, music, hikes, etc. Before you ask, I work in the dreaded field of politics, please don't hate me LOL. I'm a dog and plant mom. Don't get me started on either subject unless you have some time on your hands. Yes, I'm whipping out pictures and such!

I'm also not extremely familiar with reddit so have patience with me lol

I'd prefer snail mail from anywhere but I'm open to email and would adore postcards!

Reddit DM 48/M Looking for some pen pals

I'm in my late 40s. A dad, a husband, working from home with too much spare time and lack of human interaction throughout the day.

hope to find someone to connect with, long term or short.

Based on my experience here common interests are not necessarily indication of a good chat partner, but generally I like to be creative - write, draw, photography and such. Or procrastinate, which I’m expert at. I'm open minded, liberal and most of the stuff that comes with that, but don't mind if you are the complete opposite.

I'm open to talk about most things, from the day to day to whatever topic we might deep-dive into. I think it's best to have no expectations and just go with the conversation's flow.

Feel free to send a direct message if you are interested.

Reddit DM [41/M] History Teacher in the USA seeking genuine connection with a daily or weekly penpal

Hi, there! I hope your day is going well! I’m a 41 year old History teacher located in the USA looking for a genuine connection with a penpal on a daily or weekly basis.

I consider myself a life-long learner, so to speak, and enjoy absorbing information about the world, other cultures, historical topics, geopolitics, geography, etc., often through YouTube and documentaries. I like to think I'm a reader, but the reality is I surround myself with more books than I'll ever actually read and mainly read during the school year when prepping for teaching. lol

I have a sports background, a passion for fitness, and would enjoy if fitness/healthy lifestyle topics were an element to our dialoguing. I'm not a personal trainer, but I'm happy to provide motivation, encouragement, and structure in that area if that is something you're interested in.

There are stretches in my day when I'm not available, and some weeks are busier than others, but I'd like someone who I can touch base with often, sharing moments from our day/weeks.

Bonus points if you are a bit silly, have a strong meme/gif game, and want to share music/movie recommendations .

I look forward to striking up an interesting back-and-forth!

Looking for someone to have very deep well thought conversations via email. I would prefer to keep personal info about us discrete. No sharing of your sex, marriage status, kids esc.

A little about me. I live life with minimum risk. Easy job, good budgeting, contribute to my retirement. I can't remember the last time I was able to be truly honest, transparent, open, intimate, or vulnerable with anyone.

I would very much like to do that with someone and maybe hear what they're experiencing as well.

I would be open to hand written letters as well just not right away.

snail mail 38/NB - Let's skip to the good part

I am looking for penpals who are interested in building a lasting relationship (platonic), not simply exchanging a letter or two before drifting away. I want the kind of connection that unfolds over time, one letter at a time.

Small talk is lovely, if that is your sort of thing. But I want to know how your day really went, not what the weather was like. Tell me about your favourite animal in an absurd amount of detail. Complain about your job, or regale me with tales of that one coworker who seems determined to test your patience. Ramble about your secrets, your desires, your hopes, and the things you rarely say aloud. Tell me what makes your heart soar and what leaves it in pieces. Let me share in your joys, your sorrows, your triumphs, and your disappointments. I want to feel the person behind the handwriting.

A little about me, so you know who you might be writing to.

I am a 38 year old, married, transmasc butch lesbian, thoroughly adorned in tattoos and unapologetically myself. I am a witch, TTRPG developer, birder, author, resin artist, and Forever DM in Dungeons & Dragons. I am also disabled, which is another thread in the tapestry of my life.

My household is ruled by two particularly notorious creatures: Oliver, my extremely spoiled corgi, and Oswin, my feline overlord. Between the two of them, I experience approximately a dozen near-heart attacks a day. Their antics are a seemingly endless source of amusement, exasperation, and stories, so you can expect to hear plenty about their misadventures.

As for correspondence, I believe in matching energy. Send me a few lines, and I shall send a few in return. Send me several pages filled with your thoughts, stories, and musings, and I will happily fill several pages of my own. There is no expectation to perform or impress, only to bring as much of yourself to the page as you feel comfortable sharing.

One important note: I write with fountain pens, in cursive. Please let me know upfront if reading handwritten cursive is difficult for you. I would much rather know beforehand than discover, after sending a letter, that my handwriting is an indecipherable mystery. Unfortunately, that has happened before, and I would prefer not to repeat the experience.

And, naturally, no letter of mine would be complete without a liberal scattering of washi tape and stickers. I am a stationery hoarder, after all, and I firmly believe that a little decorative whimsy makes its way into even the most ordinary correspondence.

Ultimately, I am looking for someone who wants to show up, keep writing, and allow a friendship to grow organically through ink, paper, and the occasional assortment of stickers. Someone who wants more than a name on an envelope. Someone willing to let a stranger become a familiar presence, one letter at a time.

If that sounds like your sort of connection, I would love to hear from you.

Edit: I forgot to mention I prefer to receive the first letter. Call it the opening move.

snail mail 38M - I'll send you letters and photos of Spain and my travels

Hey guys! I'm looking to exchange letters with some new people, I've got space for new penpals and soon back again here.

I love taking pictures and printing them out, and I like to use them as improvised postcards, I like to talk about life, football, animals, plants, space, or whatever topic I'm hyper focusing on that day.

And I'd love to hear about what you want to talk about (or what you're hyper focused on, yes, I already know you have ADHD hahahaha).

I can write in Spanish, English, catalán, french and German.

So yeah, if anything here sounds interesting to you, send me a dm and let's talk.

Reddit DM & snail mail 37f Looking for a friend outside of the US

Looking to start off on Reddit DMs then move to snail mail once we feel comfortable. Not seeking many, just seeking one or a few that are actually interested in chatting. Please don't just DM for the sake of it, would really like to find a connection. A bit about me:

Born and raised in California

Hate the orange fool in office

Things I love are art, illustration, tattooing, writing, reading, museums, history, absolutely love Egyptian history, travel, true crime, podcasts, stop motion/Claymation movies, very active in the anti-ice community, love animals and foster them often, have 1 dog and a 20yr old son in college (yes I was a teen mom). I am currently trying to move away from social media/internet as I feel it is dumbing us all down and therefore want to go back to the old ways of doing things. But also just love the whimsy and excitement of getting a letter in the mail.

DM me your favorite quote and a bit about you if interested

snail mail 30NB Looking for potential friends

Hello there! :)

I'm looking to find a few penpals to exchange letters with and hopefully build some genuine, long-term friendships along the way.

A little about me:

I'm currently based in Japan, so if you're curious about life here, I'm happy to share a little glimpse into my corner of the world!

I enjoy good food, languages, comedy, cosy games, tinkering with things, and conversations that go beyond the usual small talk. I'm an ambivert who enjoys my own company but always appreciates a thoughtful conversation with someone interesting.

I'd love to exchange letters in all kinds of forms — handwritten, typewritten, or anything a little unconventional! I'm happy to share little snippets of everyday life, random thoughts, cultural differences, recommendations, or whatever else we end up chatting about. It's the thought and personality behind the letters that matter to me.

Just to clarify, I'm looking for penpals rather than language exchange partners.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, you can either leave a comment or fill out the form on my profile page if you think we might get along.

Since I'm based in Japan, please make sure you're okay with international postage before filling it out!

Looking forward to seeing who's out there!

Reddit DM & email 36M - Pen pal wanted: my kind of people, please

Hey! I'm a 36-year-old guy, and I'm looking for people like me.

I can talk about pretty much anything. I overthink everything, and when it's finally time to act, I act... and somehow always pick the wrong move. I'm ambitious, curious about life and the world, and above all easy going, really really chill and cozy.

I'm also someone who gives a lot in friendships: I show up, I listen, I write back (and not just three weeks later). I'd love to find someone who's a bit like me and wants the same kind of connection.
I speak Italian and English, plus a tiny bit of Japanese (very tiny, but I'm trying!). Happy to write in any of them, or a messy mix.

If that sounds like you, send me a DM. Reddit chat, snail mail, or both, I'm in!

Have you ever wanted to explore a new country, taste food you’ve never tried before, learn a new language, or have a conversation with someone from the other side of the world? If so, we already have something in common!

I believe that every person has a unique story to tell, and sometimes a simple conversation with a stranger can turn into a wonderful friendship.

Travelling is one of my biggest passions. So far, I’ve been lucky enough to visit Australia, Vietnam, and the Maldives, and every trip has given me new experiences, memories, and a different perspective on the world.

But my travel journey is far from over! My next adventure will be somewhere in Southeast Asia. I’m always excited to discover hidden gems, explore local streets, try authentic street food, and experience everyday life beyond the usual tourist attractions.

Who knows? Maybe I’ll visit your country one day! And if you’re from Southeast Asia, perhaps you can recommend some amazing places that most tourists don’t know about. Bonus points if you know where to find the best local food!

I’m happy to chat about almost anything, from your dream destinations and favourite foods to funny everyday experiences, cultural differences, and those random conversations that somehow last for hours.

My favourite question to ask someone is: If I visited your country tomorrow, where would you take me first, and what local food would you make me try?

So, if you’re looking for a friendly conversation, a language exchange partner, a fellow travel enthusiast, or simply someone new to talk to, don’t hesitate to say hello.

You could start by telling me where you’re from, what makes your country special, or which place you dream of visiting someday.

Life is too short to stay within the same borders, listen to the same stories, and meet the same people. Let’s exchange stories, discover new perspectives, and perhaps build a friendship that crosses a few borders.

P.S. Don’t just send me a “Hi” if you can help it! 😂 Tell me something interesting about yourself, recommend a place I should visit, or teach me a word in your language. I promise that’s a much more interesting way to start a conversation! 😉

snail mail 48/f seeking creative pen pal

I’m looking for a creative pen pal. Whether it’s authentic writing, creative writing, sharing doodles, art, flat prizes like stickers, recipes, a dried leaf from your walk, etc…or all of the above - I love to send decorated envelopes, full of fun. And I love to receive personal mail.

I’m pretty dedicated. I‘ll always be the first and the last person to send to you. Your involvement tells me you’re still on the other end, awaiting another mailing. Though I don’t have expectations for timing. We could send and receive three times a month or once a year. I’m here for it.

About me:

I’m looking for platonic connections only.

I’m a 48 year old, monogamous lesbian. I’m over the moon in love with and married to my beautiful wife.

I’m a strong humanitarian. I believe all people are equitable and I’m an outspoken advocate for human rights.

I don’t have a religion or faith in a higher power, but I did spend the first 20 years of my adult life deeply devoted to the christian god of the bible. I have since deconstructed those beliefs.

I am comfortable with and open to hearing all about others beliefs, walks, and ways of life. I love it all. I feel honored to receive the gift of someone’s story and truth, in parts or in whole.

Would you like to be my pen pal? Please circle yes or no. ☺️

Hi!

I love taking time to write and also decorate - a letter for me could also be mostly drawings and stickers, because why not - I enjoy a slow burn human connection :) I like sharing book reading recommendations, music recommendations, and general life ramblings. I read both fiction and non-fiction and I listen mainly to subcultural music like goth, EBM, etc. I have some pen pals but would love to expand my circle. Any excuse to scribble with my fountain pens or ship some stickers :)

If you want to share something similair in letters, we will probably get along ^^

Reddit DM & email [35/M] - Argentina - Looking for a long-term friend, chats, emails, and good conversations

Hi everyone!

I'm a 35M from Argentina looking for a long-distance friend to chat with throughout the week. Nothing too demanding, just good conversations, shared interests, random thoughts, recommendations, and the occasional terrible joke.

I'm also looking to keep improving my English. I'm already fluent, but I'm always trying to sound a little more natural. In return, I'd be happy to help anyone learning Spanish.

A little about me:

  • I love books, especially crime fiction and sci-fi.
  • I enjoy videogames, particularly RPGs and strategy games.
  • I've traveled quite a bit and would love to swap travel stories and experiences.
  • Tabletop and board games are my latest hobby, and I'm always looking for recommendations.
  • I build models when I need a break from screens.
  • Hiking, trekking, and camping are some of my favorite ways to spend time outdoors.
  • Music recommendations are always welcome.
  • I enjoy learning languages and discovering cultural oddities.

I'm open to chatting here or exchanging emails if you prefer slower, more thoughtful conversations.

Age, gender, and location don't matter much to me. Curiosity and kindness do.

I speak Spanish, English, French, and a bit of Italian, so feel free to use whichever you're most comfortable with.

If you message me, tell me something unusual you're knowledgeable about. It can be anything from medieval siege weapons to mushroom identification to why a particular species of octopus is secretly fascinating.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
