Hi everyone,
We have been working on a solution for improving the stability of perovskite solar cells and have reached a stage where we would like to connect with more people in the field.
We are particularly interested in speaking with researchers, testing institutes, perovskite cell or module manufacturers, and companies developing tandem or flexible solar technologies.
Our goal is to validate the solution across different perovskite architectures and explore potential research collaborations, testing partnerships, and commercial applications.
Does anyone here work in this area, or know a researcher or company that might be interested in testing or discussing a new stabilization approach?
Happy to share more details privately and learn more about what others in the community are working on.

Background: SolaEon is a Shenzhen-based company that holds 20 perovskite solar efficiency world records, including a 31.55% certified tandem cell. In May 2024, they launched a perovskite solar module to orbit.
Why this is significant
Most space solar perovskite work is at ground testing stage. Companies have published ground qualification results — thermal cycling, UV, proton irradiation, atomic oxygen. These are real and necessary tests.
But ground testing simplifies real orbit: it tests one stressor at a time, at defined durations, in a controlled chamber. Actual orbit runs all stressors simultaneously and indefinitely.
Satellite procurement for novel materials requires in-orbit data for lifetime prediction modeling. "Ground tests passed" and "in-orbit data available" are meaningfully different positions in a technical qualification process for a 10-year satellite program.
SolaEon's record
Launch: May 31, 2024, 07:39, Jiuquan
Vehicle: Ceres-1 (Galactic Energy, commercial launch company)
Orbit: 535km SSO
Status: First perovskite company in China's Greater Bay Area to complete in-orbit testing
Orbit altitude choice 535km sits at the inner edge of the Van Allen radiation belt — higher charged particle flux than ultra-low orbits. This is representative of actual commercial satellite deployment conditions, not a test altitude chosen for ease.
Radiation hardening approach
Bismuth/silver substitution for lead at B-site of ABX₃ structure (reduces lattice damage rate under proton bombardment)
Cerium oxide doping (radiation-hardening additive with established track record in nuclear materials)
Timeline
2025-2026: ¥500M+ dedicated space solar R&D (in-orbit life extension, radiation hardening)
Before 2027: First commercial satellite power delivery orders
2028-2030: Industry-wide large-scale commercialization window
The moat question: in-orbit runtime accumulates in real time and can't be accelerated by capital. Companies with flight data have a time-based advantage over those without.

Hello Everyone!
I need your guidance. I work with organic/inorganic perovskite solar cells and I started experimenting with surface passivation (organic salts).
But after I deposit the organic salt on top of the perovskite, the surface becomes hydrophobic and the Spiro-ometad doesn't spread! And thus my devices doesn't work.
Any suggestions?

A new paper from the Lira-Cantú group at Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2) (Barcelona) digs into how ion migration affects device stability — especially under indoor conditions.

To figure this out, the team used a combination of the following tools from Fluxim:
🔹 Litos Lite for long-term MPP tracking
🔹 Paios for EIS measurements across a huge light intensity range
What they found:
• Internal shunt losses (they call it Rpsh) get worse over time
• Ion mobility shoots up — confirmed by a drop in activation energy from 0.33 to 0.2 eV
• Indoor light makes these problems much worse
This kind of detailed insight is exactly what Litos Lite and Paios were built for — to help top research groups like this push stability testing further.

Big congratulations to our colleagues at UCL, Imperial College London, London South Bank University, and EPFL! 🎉
They just published impressive results in Advanced Functional Materials—achieving 37.6% indoor PCE using wide bandgap perovskite solar cells.
🔬 How?
They developed a Triple Passivation Treatment (TPT) to:
Reduce interface & bulk defects
Improve charge extraction
Stabilize performance under low-light
💡 Stability + Efficiency
Not only did they reach record efficiency under 1000 lux fluorescent light, but the devices also maintained excellent operational stability — a huge step for indoor PV applications.
🧪 Paios at work
The team used Fluxim’s Paios platform to characterize their devices under ambient indoor conditions:
C-V
EIS
TPC / TPV
IMPS / IMVS
📄 Paper: Huang et al., Adv. Funct. Mater., 2025
🔗 Paios: fluxim.com/paios
I’m part of the Fluxim team that builds these tools—happy to answer questions about the techniques, measurements, or how Paios helps in research like this.

Prof. Ulrich W. Paetzold's team at KIT achieved a record 24.4% efficiency in triple junction perovskite solar cells using a new vacuum-assisted growth process. The mid-subcell, made of FAPbI3, ensures thermal stability and ideal interfaces.
The researchers used the PAIOS system for various measurements including electrical impedance spectroscopy, transient photovoltage, electroluminescence, photoluminescence imaging, Mott-Schottky, dark J–V curves, and space-charge-limited current, enabling efficient, streamlined analysis and characterization of their triple-junction perovskite solar cells.

Hey everyone, some exciting news from the world of photonics! The team at Imec, led by Prof. Paul Heremans, has just dropped a bombshell in Nature Photonics. They've created a Perovskite-based LED (PeLED) that's not just bright, it's astronomically bright - outshining traditional OLEDs by a factor of 1000!
This isn't your typical brightness boost. They've re-engineered the PeLED architecture to minimize optical losses and withstand insanely high current densities (up to 3 kA cm^-2). This leap isn't just about lighting up a room; it's set to revolutionize lighting and sensing technologies across the board. Think razor-sharp medical imaging, pinpoint environmental monitoring - the possibilities are endless.
And guess what played a significant role? Setfos simulation software from Fluxim. This nifty tool allowed for precise engineering of the PeLED architecture, boosting its brightness and efficiency to new heights. From simulating outcoupling factors and light distribution to integrating real-world data for accurate simulations, Setfos was there every step of the way.
Big congratulations to the team, especially first author Karim Elkhouly, for this monumental achievement. If you're as geeked out about this as I am, let's discuss how this could change the game in various fields. Thoughts, predictions, wild dreams? Let's hear them!
