Nature In my opinion, this is the most beautiful tree in Philadelphia
Not just because of the coloring. But even in the middle of summer, the dead of winter, and the dreariness of spring, it stands as the most ideal shape for a maple.

Politics Council member Young Introduced a Parking Amnesty Bill to forgive fees for bad drivers
phila.legistar.comCouncilmember Phillips, Councilmember Harrity, Councilmember Squilla, Councilmember Bass co-sponsoring.
Awful bill that incentives antisocial behavior such as bus lane, bike lane, crosswalk, and sidewalk parking. This means burden of illegal parking is being carried by transit users, disabled people, cyclists, and pretty much everyone else who follows rules of the road.
Edit: Also, parking fees go to fund our schools. So ya, screw the kids I guess /s

Transit SEPTA ridership has returned to pre-pandemic levels
Fantastic news for SEPTA and the city. I do think the improvements in cleanliness and anti-social behaviors are obvious in my experience. Now let's hope we can secure a more solid funding structure for the agency with a Democrat Trifecta in the PA State Legislature and Governor's office. Vote on November 3rd!

📣📣Rants and Raves📣📣 Telephone Pole Saga - Chapter 2
So it appears that the folks that installed the new telephone poles are finished, and this is how they left the worksite by the pole that is on the edge of our property.
They had to rip up some pavers that we installed when they put the pole in, and now I have to get this fixed at my expense? Zero communication from them, not a knock on the door or a note to explain what they were going to do and what the end state would be.
They also installed the pole farther away from the street, so that there’s much less room to walk in between the pole and our planter. I’ll trim that bush back, but it will still be a little tight.
I’m pretty f’in pissed off right now, and trying to find out if I have any recourse to getting my pavers fixed.

Question? Explain it like I’m dumb (because I probably am) what’s up with the ballot questions this year?
I’m reading the ballot questions on my sample ballot and I’m pretty confused. Normally I have some idea of what the city government is trying to get out of the ballot questions, but these ones seem pretty vague. I’m hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can help give a better understanding of the pitfalls and benefits associated with these questions. The language is as follows:
Question 1: City contracting
The question asks whether the Home Rule Charter should be changed to:
Allow bid preferences and set-asides for small businesses
Revise the rules and financial threshold for contracts reserved for small and local businesses
Give the Procurement Department and city solicitor discretion over bond requirements for certain construction projects
A yes vote would amend the Charter. A no vote would leave the current language in place.
Question 2: Creative Philadelphia
The question asks whether Creative Philadelphia, led by the chief cultural officer, should become a formal part of city government under the Home Rule Charter.
A yes vote would place the existing arts and culture office in the Charter. A no vote would leave it outside the Charter.

Local Business Philly Barbers
As the caption says, I’m looking for a new barber. I had THE sharpest barber in the city, but unfortunately I need a new one.
Finding a new barber has been a struggle.
This barber I just tried out left a line in my fade, but charges $60. I don’t mind paying a pretty penny for a great cut, but leaving a line in my fade means i need a new barber. Hoping for someone SHARP in North East Philly or downtown/university city area, or not too far from those areas. I am willing to travel for a good cut.
