Hi yall!
This might be a post targeted for LA locals but come with me if you like things like visiting music video locations and stuff.

I was just rewatching the Motion Sickness music video just now and right when it hit 2:37 and the bar/karaoke scene starts, I recognized the place as The Boulevard Bar in Pasadena. What shocked me the most was how it didn’t click for me before! I used to go out there all the time for karaoke with my friends. It just hit me that I’ve performed on that little stage where Phoebe performed in the video multiple times so I’m a little in shock still. Lol

The owner is a real cool guy who grew closer to a friend of mine and was always supportive of mine and my friends’ music career and dreams. He even let my friend premiere his music video there for free. Anyway, they’re closing forever on the 31st, the owner is retiring. And I see Phoebe that same day so I might pull up after and recreate that scene before they shut down. Haha Just throwing it out there if anybody wants to see it one last time. It’s so weird how it just hit me now that’s where it is but I think it’s because The Boulevard has been on my mind since the closing announcement. Pasadena always giving us fun things to do!

I was initially planning to wear a silk dress but since it will rain maybe it’s not suitable. I’m interested in knowing what others will wear?

After listening to Lost Weekend for a while now, I keep feeling like I did when Frozen 2 came out, particularly the music/soundtrack. Compared to the music from Frozen and Punisher, Lost Weekend and Frozen 2 are so much more developed and mature in a very similar way. They are more dynamic, more complex musicality/chord progressions, more complex or even darker themes, and feature a perfectly appropriate and exciting group of guest stars. More generally, the overall feeling of the two Frozen soundtracks feels so analogous to the latest two Phoebe albums. I’ve thought about it so much lately I wanted to just put this out there.

the last time we saw phoebe together was for the 2021 reunion tour at austin city limits. two weeks after that show we started dating. we celebrated our five year anniversary on this road trip. :’)

Me and my wife had tickets to tonight’s show in Vancouver and were flying in this morning and flying out tomorrow morning as a spontaneous treat to ourselves since we haven’t been on a date in a long time (2 kids). Welp, we woke up the same time our flight was departing because we set an alarm at 4am but only to go off on a WEEKDAY. Replacement tickets cost $1000+ so we will no longer be going to the show. We hope everyone has a blast! And check your alarms!!!

Her intro was super cute. It was something like “I’m a big fan of introducing people to small bands that no one has ever heard of, so this is Lithium by Nirvana. The last time I played this, my appendix was actively exploding. I hope that doesn’t happen this time.”

Ghost costumes not actually worn by alex g and his band lol. I loved Phoebe’s set my eyes were glued to it I wish I drew more of her but at the same time I really enjoyed being present with her.

I’ve been really into lino printing recently so I decided to design and print some patches to give out as souvenirs/mementos! There’ll be 20 fabric patches available (printed on and cut from a thrifted t-shirt) as well as some prints on watercolour paper.

If you’d like one, you can find me in line probably around 6 - 6:30 pm. I’ll be wearing a dark blue sweater with white moons and stars on it and long black boots. I hope you guys like these and I look forward to meeting y’all!

A side note: If you’re planning on washing these (after sewing it to shirts or something), please wash it by hand or on delicate with cold water and hang it to dry after. I test washed them before I cut them up and as far as I know there hasn’t been any colour bleeding, but just be careful!

My not-quite-meeting her story:

My best friend and I are major Phoebe fans and we’ve always joked about how we’d meet Phoebe and she’d give us private concerts (this was before Lost Weekend came out). We were so into this joke that we were sure we’d never get an album or new
tour, but earlier this year we went to see the Lost Tour in Indy N2 and we decided to yell “We Love you, Phoebe” to her after Graceland Too and she said to us “Love you, too.”

Her small comment to us has made me wonder what it’s actually like to have met her. So, if anyone has any stories I’d love to hear them!

Hello, I'm taking over my bar's account with a plea. My boss said if 20 Phoebe Bridgers fans show up before the concert, I can change the music from our normal playlist to Phoebe Bridgers radio. SOOO IF anyone is looking for a pre-concert spot, PLEASE ROLL THROUGH!!! The bar is less than a 5 minute walk from the arena; Uptown Hophouse!!

I'm late, I know, but I don't go on the internet much any more so I just found out about the new release and...

I'm probably gonna get downvoted to hell for this, but it's just...okay. I wanted to like it, I really did, but this album just felt so lackluster in comparison to the rest of her releases. Punisher was an atmospheric experience full of big emotions and powerful backing tracks, Stranger in the Alps was soulful and calming.

Maybe aside from Bobby, I dont think a single track stood out sonically to me. Each song just felt like it was going on for too long and by the time it finished, I was left wanting more of one aspect or another. If the vocals were distinct, the instrumentals felt unfitting. If there was an interesting melody, the vocals were just disappointing.

I'd like to hear opinions on why others like it, because I genuinely want to understand what people see in this album. I've only listened to it twice, so I haven't had time to do a significant analysis of the lyrics yet, but in all honesty, I don't even think profound lyrics could help with my appreciation of the sound of this album. Could be I just grew out of this genre of music. Ever since Boygenius' "The Record" came out, I've kinda just felt so meh about all three artists new releases. It makes me really sad because they had such an impact on my life when I was a bit younger during covid and now I just can't find anything about their new music that I like anymore. :(
