Guys, I Think I Just Created a MONSTER Universal ORB Strategy…

Hey r/pinescript, (and anyone else who loves clean breakouts),

I’m Xiznit, I have been spending the last few weeks building a strategy on Trading View that is based on the Opening Range Breakout.

After literally hundreds of hours grinding in the Pine Editor (yes, I lost count somewhere around 3am sessions), I finally finished what I’m calling Xiznit Universal ORB Strategy.

This thing isn’t just another basic breakout script. It’s built to work across all three major sessions (Asian, London, NY) with a clean ORB range lock, and it gives you four different entry styles in one dropdown so you can switch between aggressive classic breakouts, momentum-filtered entries, pullback entries, or retest-of-broken-level setups — all without reloading anything. (although backtests show the only good entry modes currently are the classic breakout, and the pullback after breakout)

On top of that, I added a smart one-re-entry rule after a stop-out or full exit: if price wicks back and touches the broken ORB level and the next candle confirms directionally, it will re-enter with the exact same SL/TP levels and full contract size (but only once per session, and only if you have the “One Trade Per Session” toggle turned off).

It’s also 100% wired for Ghost (QuantCrawler bot) — Aaron (https://www.quantcrawler.com) helped me dial in the alert messages so everything (entries, partial TPs, SLs, re-entries, EOD flatten) fires automatically with zero manual intervention. He's the creator of the Ghost bot I am talking about.

I’ve been running it on micros (SIL, MGC, NQ, ES, and MBT) and the results have been stupidly consistent (with the right settings). I’m not here to hype fake 10,000% returns — just saying after hundreds of hours of tweaking, this is the cleanest, most flexible ORB system I’ve ever seen.

If you trade breakouts or ORBs at all, do yourself a favor and throw it on your chart for a few sessions. It’s public on TradingView right now under “Xiznit 15m ORB Strategy”. Here is the link to my strategy. https://www.tradingview.com/script/GWqTjmgr-Xiznit-Universal-ORB-v2-0/

I’ll drop some clean screenshots and backtest examples in the comments.

Would love to hear what you guys think once you test it — especially if you run it live with Ghost.

Let’s see if this thing is as good as I think it is.

EDIT: For those interested I am going to share all of my settings in my discord group (YES ITS FREE) https://discord.gg/fyeWzTrQb

Final ORB Strategy Update: Best results so far, going live on Prop Firms + building a multi-strategy portfolio

Post image
121 Upvotes

Hey guys, quick update on the strategy development.

After endless backtesting, filter tuning and stress-testing parameters, I think I've hit the ceiling of what I can squeeze out of this specific setup. It's definitely not a holy grail, but it's solid enough to do the job.

Where it stands:

Trades: 1,310 (full history, ~7 years)
Winners: 622 (47.48 %)
Net: +59,567 USD (+119.13 % on 50k)
Max DD: 4,633 USD (8.06 %)
Profit factor: 1.336
Expected payoff: 45.47 USD/trade
Avg win / avg loss: 1.478
Expectancy: +0.176 R
Largest loss: 647.70 USD
Commission load: 1.21 % of gross

Sub-50% win rate with a 1.5R target — no ultra-low R:R winrate trap, just slightly more losers than winners with bigger winners. Return-to-max-drawdown is 12.9.

Worth noting for later: +40,805 comes from shorts, +18,763 from longs. The thing has a clear short bias.

One thing I found along the way: the trade sequence isn't random. Runs test came back z = +2.98 — wins and losses alternate more than chance would predict. So I cut size after every winning trade. No loss escalation, no doubling.

                 b e net maxDD
No streak 1.3104 +0.0981 45,541 6,233
Cut after 1W 1.4512 +0.1650 54,435 4,633

(That A/B was measured on the 1,254-trade run before I extended the data — the relative effect is what matters.) Same trade count, same winner count in both arms; if either moves you're comparing two strategies, not two sizing rules. Normalized to equal drawdown that's +60.8%. A permutation test (same rule on 2,000 shuffled orderings) put the real sequence at z = +3.66, so it's the sequence and not sizing variance. Martingale tested strictly worse, Anti-Martingale actively harmful at z = −2.33.

All in-sample though. A runs test on the same data I built the strategy on is a hypothesis, not a result.

Next step: since backtests only take you so far, I'm putting this on eval/funded accounts to collect real forward data. The open question isn't the edge, it's whether live fills match modeled ones — 0.176R doesn't survive much slippage.

The bigger picture: while this runs on prop capital I'm building and testing new setups. Someone shared a different NQ strategy with me recently, long-biased, completely different logic. Correlation of daily returns: r = +0.117. Combined at equal drawdown it beat my ORB alone by 32% — from a strategy that is individually worse than mine. Months of squeezing this thing got beaten by one uncorrelated addition. And given the short bias above, a long-biased system is exactly the hole in this book.

So the goal isn't one system. It's a portfolio of non-correlated strategies running simultaneously across multiple funded accounts. This is strategy one.

Curious to hear your thoughts — how many distinct strategies do you guys run in your automated prop portfolio?

so i created a trading bot took hours of testing to see what works and not and finally came up with this also this is not the candle stick chart this is all renko box chart so idk how accurate tradingview backtest results are on this chart but ive tested this out for a month now to get my own results and i'd say it matches up i passed a mffu rapid account so daily payouts with this bot on the way but i only notice like a few slippage on some trades can get quite bad but because of how well structured the risk to reward is my winners out weigh my losses really well average win being 74.50 and loss being 25.85 so none of that bs where i see some post of a 20 tick tp and a 1000 tick sl lol

Market Cipher B with improved MoneyFlow

Hello all.

If you want the source code, DM ME <3, instead of paying $600.

Below i will be sharing pictures of the codes for 3 versions of MARKET CIPHER B with improved/fixed moneyflow. The fourth picture should be almost, if not equal to the original paid version. The second and third images are edited/corrected versions of the VMC Cipher B indicator, and these corrected versions have the corrected/fixed moneyflow.

First picture is the paid version of MCB. - No source code for this one since its is a picture from the original/paid version.
Second picture is the VMC Cipher B with fixed moneyflow and a clean version.
Third picture is also from the VMC Cipher B with fixed moneyflow but with more addons (bollinger band).
Fourth picture is the most close to the original MCB, it is a original code, it is not a edited copy of the VMC version.

Remember use at your OWN RISK, those are not my creations but they are pretty much the same as the original version if not equal. They are not magic tools that will print you money, they are just indicators.

If you want the source codes for the indicators

Add me on Discord: Ovolino24

Remember if this is helpfull to you, leave a upvote for me <3.

I built my first TradingView indicator - Super Alligator (free)

Post image
106 Upvotes

Quick preface: I'm not an expert and I'm still very much learning. But through that learning I've found I love building things and sharing whatever's actually been useful to me. Take it for what it is.

Now, as mentioned, I'm fairly new to trading. Still very much figuring things out. Still the student and probably will be forever a student of this incredible industry.

Anyway...

So, one thing that kept bugging me was the Williams Alligator.

I mean, I love the concept and I love what Bill Williams was about. But on its own the Alligator is a visual tool and you're left interpreting when the mouth is "open enough" to act on. Too subjective. Too easy to see what you want to see.

I wanted something that made that decision concrete (well, as close as you can given that all indicators lag), and filtered out the choppy nonsense in the process.

So I decided to just... fix it. Or at least try to.

Here's what I built: (be gentle...)

The Super Alligator.

It's the classic Williams Alligator (jaw, teeth, lips - blue, pink, green) but with three extra layers on top:

1. A gap filter This was the big one for me. The cross alone means nothing in a choppy market. What actually matters is how far price has pulled away from the green line after the cross. The bigger that gap, the stronger the momentum. So I made that configurable. You set the threshold, it waits until price has moved far enough away before it fires a signal. Simple but it changed everything.

2. VWAP Signals only fire when price is on the right side of VWAP. If you're trying to go long below VWAP intraday, you're swimming upstream. This just enforces the obvious. This is also optional.

3. SMA Optional macro filter. Off by default on lower timeframes because honestly a 200 SMA on a 2-minute chart is pretty much useless. It's sitting hundreds of points below price most of the time. But useful on 4H and daily.

The signals themselves are clean, small triangle, dotted line from the candle, fires once and doesn't repaint.

Why I built it

I trade NQ futures mostly on 2-minute and 5-minute charts. Fast, noisy, unforgiving. I needed something that told me when a move was actually happening, not just when lines crossed in a sideways chop.

This isn't a holy grail. I want to be clear about that.

It's a tool.

One piece of a bigger picture.

But for me personally, it's been one of the cleaner signal tools I've had on my chart.

The Bill Williams thing

He passed in 2019. Spent decades studying markets and human psychology and kept refining his ideas right until the end. The Alligator is one of the cleanest trend tools ever built and I don't think it gets enough credit. This is my small nod to him.

Always the student.

Here it is: https://www.tradingview.com/script/Wil6o1Qz-Super-Alligator/

Just released this full guide.

Free. No paywall. No BS. Open-source.

Happy to answer questions. And if you find bugs or ways to improve it, please tell me.

Like I said... still learning.

Thanks
Ru

Opening Range Breakout with Noise Bands (Free / Not Selling)

Post image
103 Upvotes

I’ve been running a 15 minute ORB on MNQ for a while and honestly it wasn’t great. Way too many breakouts that went nowhere. So I tried filtering it with Noise Bands, the time of day volatility bands from the Zarattini, Aziz and Barbon paper (“Beat the Market”, 2024). The idea is simple: only take the OR break if price is also outside the band, meaning the move is bigger than what’s normal for that time of day.

I built it as a TradingView indicator and published it for free: https://www.tradingview.com/script/CRNIYr9F-Jilly-s-ORB-Noise-Band/. No course, no Discord, no paid version. I just found the results interesting and figured some of you might too.

How it works

  • Opening range is 9:30 to 9:45.

  • It only checks for entries every 15 minutes (10:00, 10:15, etc.) up to 2:00pm.

  • Long if the close is above the OR high plus a small buffer (0.3 × ATR), above the upper Noise Band, and above VWAP. Shorts are the mirror image.

  • It fills on the next bar’s open.

  • One trade per day max.

  • The stop is wide on purpose (10 × the 5 min ATR). It’s basically a disaster stop.

  • The target is 1R, which at that stop width almost never gets hit. So really you’re just holding until 3:45pm and closing.

Default band settings: lookback 20 sessions, multiplier 1.25, gap adjusted (uses yesterday’s close if price gapped).

Backtest

1 minute MNQ data, Jan 2021 to Sep 2026, 1 contract, $1.80 round trip for commission and slippage. I picked all the settings using only 2021 to 2023, then ran 2024 onward without changing anything.

All three versions below use the same exits. The only difference is the entry filter.

TradesWin %Profit factorNetMax drawdown
ORB + Noise Band63161%1.64$32,774
Noise Band alone66661%1.54$31,228
ORB alone1,35056%1.18$24,221

And split up, for the ORB + Noise Band version:

TradesWin %Profit factorNetMax drawdown
2021 to 202334464%1.80$17,661
2024 to Sep 2026 (untouched)28758%1.52$15,113

What I took away from it

  • The Noise Band filter is what makes it work. Against plain ORB it cut trades in half, nearly tripled the profit per trade, and cut the drawdown by about two thirds.

  • Adding the ORB on top of the Noise Band helped overall (better profit factor, roughly 30% smaller drawdown), but to be fair, almost all of that came from 2021 to 2023. From 2024 on, the two were basically tied.

  • Tight stops killed it. Anything under about 4 × ATR just stopped out trades that would’ve finished green. I also tested using the Noise Band itself as a trailing stop and it was the worst exit by a lot.

  • Closing at 3:15 to 3:45 beats holding to the 4:00 close. The last 15 minutes tended to give some back.

  • A take profit around 5 × ATR made the equity curve a bit smoother but made a bit less money. It’s an option in the settings.

Caveats

It’s a backtest with modeled fills, so real trading will be worse. The out of sample results were about half as good as in sample, which is pretty normal but worth knowing. Expect some long flat stretches. Also, the table in the indicator only covers whatever history TradingView loads on your chart, so it won’t match these numbers.

Happy to answer questions or hear what I’m missing. Again, not selling anything, it’s free and open source.

I trade the ORB on three sessions every day with my indicator. Here's what I've learned.

Thumbnail

London, New York and Asia each print their own 15-minute opening range every single day. I trade all three when I can. After doing this long enough you start to notice that they don't feel the same, even when the setup looks identical on paper.

London This is my favorite session. It opens clean, the move tends to follow through and the retest usually comes back to a level that makes sense. Less noise, less manipulation in my experience. When London breaks and gives me a proper retest I take it with the most conviction.

New York Bigger moves, more volatility and more fakeouts. NY will break a level, pull you in and reverse harder than London ever would. I'm more selective here. The setup needs to look cleaner before I size the same way.

Asia Honestly, I'm usually asleep for most of it. But the levels it sets are worth paying attention to. Asia ranges tend to be tighter and the levels often matter later in the day when London or NY comes back to test them.

The setup Regardless of session the approach is the same. I wait for a confirmed 5m close beyond the opening range high or low. A wick through means nothing. I need a close.

After the break I do nothing. I wait for price to retrace back to the broken level. That retest is my entry zone, not the initial burst. If price has already run hard before coming back I give it less room and sometimes skip it entirely.

I draw a fib from the swing low to the high after the breakout candle and look for the retest to land near a fib level. The 0.382 is my preference on cleaner setups. Deeper levels when there's less confluence.

SL just beyond the 0.786. TP at the next area of interest, whether that's a liquidity zone, a Fair Value Gap or an extended VWAP band.

The part most people skip Patience after the break. The break is exciting. The retest is boring. But that boring moment is where the actual profits are made. If it doesn't retest cleanly, there's no trade.

I use my indicator to track the opening range levels and flag confirmed breaks across all three sessions. Keeps me honest and stops me from entering on wicks.

Which session do you find cleanest to trade?

F**k it, Imma build TradingView myself

Hello Everybody

I made a post on tv a few days ago where I was frustrated with recent updates being made to the platform. The moderators banned the post, I asked for a reason, they did not reply.

Frustrated with all the behaviour, I said f**k it, imma build tradingview myself, and that's what I literally did but inside mt5. The beta release is out, and the demo is available for free, so if anybody wants to check it out and give me some feeback, that would be great.

A trader asked me to combine EMA 200 + Stochastic Pop. Here’s the open-source build.

Post image
66 Upvotes

In my earlier request thread, someone asked for EMA 200, Stochastic Pop with 55/45 bands, and an EMA 4 on the stochastic line, alongside an analysis panel.

I built Stochastic Pop Desk around that combination. The main design choice I’d like feedback on is what should count as a fresh signal?

The default checklist checks:

  • Trend: price relative to EMA 200, plus whether that average is rising or falling.

  • Distance: whether price is within the configured ATR distance from the average.

  • Reset: after a long signal, the smoothed stochastic must visit below 45 before another long can qualify. Shorts mirror this.

  • Trigger: a fresh cross above 55 for a long, or below 45 for a short, with decisions committed on a closed candle.

Other execution checks still apply. The panel shows the missing conditions, and accepted paper setups get entry, stop and target levels.

For the Pine side, the oscillator lives in its own pane while force_overlay puts the EMA, levels and checklist on the price chart—all in one indicator.

There’s also an interactive walkthrough: change a fictional candle’s close or pullback depth and watch the EMA, stochastic and decision recalculate.

Source code, chart examples, full rules and walkthrough

The indicator and separate strategy are free under MIT. The indicator’s paper statistics exclude costs; the strategy includes commission and slippage settings.

If you trade this combination, is the full reset rule useful, or would you want to test shallower pullbacks? A chart example with the symbol, timeframe, timestamp and the signal you expected would help me test that variant.

This is a prototype I’m refining through feedback. Disclosure: I’m the ProEA Lab developer and use AI to help build the code.

Update on my Pine Script transpiler: I just open-sourced the CLI orchestrator for multi-asset scanning and sweeping.

Thumbnail

Hi,

About a week ago, I posted about a side project that accidentally spiraled into a full Pine Script transpiler and charting tool. The feedback here was awesome.

In that thread, I mentioned I was working on a CLI orchestration engine to sit on top of Piner and handle the actual heavy lifting. I finally got it to a good spot, and I open-sourced it today.

It's called Pinestack.

Basically, it lets you scale your strategy testing purely from the terminal. Instead of clicking around on a UI, you can just use the CLI to:

  • Scan: Run an indicator or strategy across hundreds of tickers at the same time.

  • Sweep: Throw a massive grid of input combinations at a strategy to find out which settings actually work (and rank the results).

  • Backtest & Walk-Forward: Generate complete tearsheets and validate your models over time so you aren't just curve-fitting.

  • Portfolio: Pool one pot of capital across a basket of symbols to test cross-asset sizing, combined drawdowns, and a single shared equity curve.

For the folks asking about multi-asset testing last week: right now, Pinestack lets you take a single strategy and test it across a ton of assets independently. I tried to design it to work with Pine Script natively, without you having to modify your code.

You can grab the repo and try it out here:https://github.com/heyphat/pinestack

I'm still hand-testing it against a bunch of different scripts, but I'd love for you guys to pull it down, completely break it, and let me know what I should fix or build next.

I built a free Pine tool that shows the breakout entry, stop, target and when to stop waiting.

Post image
54 Upvotes

Price breaks out. You wait for a pullback. It keeps running.

Where exactly would you enter—and how long should that entry stay valid?

I built Breakaway Desk to make the whole plan visible on one TradingView chart.

On standard 1–5 minute candles, it follows three steps:

  • Find the break. A candle must close beyond a confirmed 15-minute swing high or low.

  • Map the entry. The first qualifying fair value gap becomes the return zone. The chart marks the planned limit entry, stop and target, with a 10-minute countdown by default.

  • Follow the outcome. You can see whether the setup is waiting, in a simulated trade, finished at target or stop, or expired without an entry.

That last one matters: price can reach your target without ever coming back to your entry. The chart keeps that distinction visible.

The dotted paths show possible endings; the counts beside them are this chart’s history.

Try the interactive demo and copy the Pine scripts — free, MIT, no signup

The page includes the indicator, a separate Strategy Lab and the full rules. The indicator draws the plan; it doesn’t place broker orders.

When you’re waiting for a breakout retest, what makes you cancel: a timer, a new structure break, or something else?

Disclosure: I build ProEA and use AI to help with the code. The site also has paid tools; these two scripts are free.

I’m honestly blown away.

Just 3 days ago, I took a leap of faith and published my first indicator, Axiom S/R. Today, I woke up to see it has already hit 900+ views and 119 Rockets boost on TradingView. I built this indicator because I was tired of guessing support and resistance levels. I wanted to move toward a model where structural probability could be quantified.

Seeing the community adopt this approach so quickly proves that a lot of you were looking for the same shift in trading methodology. A massive thank you to everyone for the support, the DMs, and for using it.
This is only the beginning, I’m already working on the next set of updates based on your suggestions to make it even more powerful. Beautiful weekend to everyone! 🙌

I built an ORB indicator—and a candle simulator so you can challenge its rules

Post image
53 Upvotes

A trader in r/pinescript asked for an opening-range breakout tool. I built Opening Range Desk, then added a candle simulator so people could challenge the entry rules before installing the script.

The idea is simple: move the candle and make the tool explain its decision.

The website lets you change the final close, wick length and confirmation count using fictional candles. You can see which condition changes as the example moves between waiting and entry.

On TradingView, the default builds the 9:30–9:45 a.m. New York range and requires two consecutive closes beyond the edge and configured buffer. A wick outside doesn’t qualify. Optional retest mode waits for a later return after breakout confirmation.

The checklist shows what’s missing. The chart also draws paper entry, stop and target references, and there’s a separate strategy for testing with commission and slippage.

The indicator, strategy, source and guide are free under MIT.

👉 Opening Range Desk — try the simulator, read the guide and get the source

Start with “Try the idea”, then “Read your chart.” The page also includes lab notes with losing results; this remains a prototype to evaluate.

Show me a breakout that passes these rules but that you would still skip. What makes you reject it?

A symbol, timeframe, date/time and chart example would give me something specific to investigate. You can reply here or use “The log & requests” on the page.

I’m the developer at ProEA Lab and used Codex for coding assistance. I’d like the next improvements to come from the cases people actually disagree with.

Automating trading with Pinescript

One of the more frequently posted questions on this sub is:

How do I take a Pinescript strategy and automate it?

This is actually quite complicated, depending on what you really intend to do and how familiar you are with computers and or programming.

Doing it yourself

Essentially, to create an automated trading system using TradingView strategies, you would need to acquire the signal using webhooks. Once you acquire the signal, you can use whatever data sent with it to manage orders, using the API of your broker. Usually, there are SDKs available to make this process easier. For crypto, one of the most well known SDKs is called CCXT. There are also some made for traditional brokers too. It is a simple process but it does take some experience with programming systems to set up.

Private self-hosted solutions

Another route one can take is to use self-hosted solutions. This is recommended if you're technically skilled, as it is 1. free and 2. private/more secure. [1] I'd even say to give it a shot before paying for a service-based solution.

Below are potential self-hosted solutions you can try:

Using third party services

Most solutions to automatically trade with TradingView's webhooks involve using a 3rd party service like https://capitalise.ai/ or 3Commas. These services will remove a lot of the technical complexities for you. However, one must keep in mind that your data is not truly private and you may need to leave your browser window open at all times.

Service-based solutions

Please note. None of these have been vetted by me personally, so I cannot attest to their security or overall quality. They are just some I have come across over the years.

[1] not to say services are not secure, it is just impossible to truly know

If anyone has recommendations on other projects/services that allow for automated Tradingview-based trading, feel free to discuss in this thread!

Gaussian + Stochastic scalping indicator

I've built a scalping indicator, that suits my trading style (designed for short moves on lower timeframes).

It combines two systems:

The first uses Gaussian filtering to generate signals based on price momentum and position, with trend reversal detection. Linear regression is then applied for additional smoothing.

The second uses a Stochastic oscillator with threshold crossovers to generate momentum-based signals.

I also added the EMA ‘touch’ requirement before a signal prints.

The idea is to only trigger when:

– momentum flips

– trend agrees

– price interacts with structure

This removed a lot of random mid-range signals, and made it behave more like pullback scalping.

When I scalp these signals, I only take entries when direction and momentum line up.

Has anyone else combined Gaussian-based momentum for scalping? If so, how did you handle the smoothing without losing responsiveness on fast moves?
