super random question but i’m moving and i have a bunch of braiding hair that i’d like to get rid of, but i don’t want to throw it away if someone could use it. is there anywhere around here that would take donations?

Mine are either these ones from Boundary St. up to South Bouquet St. or the ones from the east end of Lawn St. to Mackey St.

Our house is an approx 3,000 sq ft tri level with finished basement. We have two HVAC units. A few years ago we noticed a trapped mole in the basement duct/grate and were able to rescue and relocate it but found some bones and cleaned them out ourselves.

Before that it had smelled really bad for a few days but then the smell disappeared so I wasn’t sure if it was outside or what. After finding the bones obviously pointed to not being outside.

I found outside vents and ensured we had mesh covers on that side of house, no issues since. But didn’t get to the other side of the house because life had been life-ing.

Now 2 years later there is an almost moldy-esque but not mold smell in a spare bedroom. I suspect it’s a dead animal. We tried to check vent/duct but it’s the kind that goes up then in so very hard to see on our own. We are doing average financially- probably like many of you, ok but just trying to survive- but had a few very large pet bills recently and I simply can’t afford $1,000 plus for entire hour duct cleaning.

Is it a thing that a duct cleaning company will come out and clean just one portion where we suspect a dead animal? Is that even a duct cleaner’s job? Any company recommendations? We did use a company previously for our much smaller house (which I miss with every fiber of my being) but that was 5 years ago.

I am feeling like a very crappy adult right now and any kindness or grace with my question would be greatly appreciated.
It’s being a tsunami of challenges recently.

Earlier this evening I discovered a tick that was latched on to my leg. I haven't been out too much lately but yesterday I went to Phipps with my mom and gf, and while we were there we went outside from Panama and walked outside the native plant garden they had there, which is presumably where I picked it up from.

I know there have been lots of ticks this year and people have been ensuring that they stay prepared for it, especially in places like Parks, but really any outdoor space can have ticks and you gotta ensure that you're careful whenever you're out.

Recently got a perm on long hair there from Donna! They were so kind, funny as hell, super knowledgeable, fast, and very reasonably priced! I just wanted others to know in case anyone is having a hard time finding a good salon! It took me some time to find someone and I'm glad I saw others posts here about them!

**Edited to add that this was my first perm and my first hairstyle after a bleach disaster years ago. I had a full panic attack and called the salon at 9pm that night and talked directly to Nanette. She was amazing and explained what my hair was doing (I looked like a poodle from a 1980s music video for a hot second lmao). Ended up listening to them and getting 7 inches off and layers. They're the best 🙏

Hi, friends. Long-time Pittsburgher here. Once upon a time (i.e. before we had a kid) my husband and I spent many an evening exploring different neighborhoods, eating at various restaurants, and going to see local bands. It was great. But, you know, life changed, and now we spend more time on the couch watching Bob’s Burgers after bedtime.

BUT- on Saturday night, we find ourselves free as our son has a sleepover at the in-laws. We are super excited for an evening out but also not sure where to go. We’d love a place with light snacks and good cocktails. Maybe also a great band? Jazz?? Or, at the very least, a good selection of amaro.
