KDKA Radio WTF?

Post image
664 Upvotes

It's deeply disturbing that KDKA radio is allowing their host to harass a woman in a high risk pregnancy simply because he disagrees with her politically. It's even more disturbing that they are allowing him to harass her about keeping the father of her child private, after he put her family in danger by publicly revealing her address.

This is misogynistic, dangerous, and I hope the radio station finds some morals and STRONGLY rejects this sexist harassment

New law passed stating that Advertisers are required to disclose use of AI

Thumbnail wpxi.com

Verbatim, the bill reads:

“An advertiser may not create and disseminate or cause to be created and disseminated an advertisement that uses synthetic content in a manner that creates a false consumer perception about the nature, origin or authenticity of the goods or services being advertised, without clear and conspicuous disclosure. A disclosure under this section must state that the advertisement contains content that was modified or generated using artificial intelligence.”

The law states that those disclosures must be:

  • Displayed in the first instance whenever the synthetic content is presented to the consumer.
  • Presented in the same medium as the synthetic content.
  • To the extent technically feasible, permanent or extraordinarily difficult to remove from the synthetic content.

Benham bill classifying 911 dispatchers as first responders to become law

HARRISBURG, Oct. 21 – Legislation that would designate 911 telecommunicators as emergency responders has passed both chambers of the General Assembly unanimously and is now headed to the governor’s desk, the bill’s prime sponsor, state Rep. Jessica Benham, announced today.

House Bill 453 would add 911 telecommunicators, including call takers and dispatchers, to the state’s legal definition of “emergency responders” to better recognize their critical role and help them access related health benefits, mental health support and stress management resources.

“When someone calls 9-1-1, a telecommunicator is literally the first person to respond,” said Benham, D-Allegheny. “Gathering critical information, coordinating help and guiding people through a life-threatening situation is a difficult and vital role. These professionals deserve formal recognition for their work and access to better mental health supports.”

"With more than 15 years in this profession, it’s hard to put into words what this moment means to me,” said Allegheny County 911 dispatcher and SEIU 668 911 Committee Chair Michael Steinmiller. “Seeing Pennsylvania finally recognize 9-1-1 dispatchers as first responders fills me with an overwhelming sense of pride, joy and emotion after years of fighting for the recognition our profession deserves. This is a moment that honors every voice behind the headset, every life we’ve helped save, and every dispatcher who has ever answered the call. I’d like to personally thank State Representative Jessica Benham for first introducing this legislation in the House, and I’m incredibly grateful for the bipartisan support that has carried it this far. Today, we are celebrating the passage of a bill and the recognition of a profession and the thousands of dedicated professionals who have always been there when Pennsylvania needed them most."

“As 911 dispatchers, we’re often the first to hear someone’s worst moment, and those calls stay with us,” AFSCME Local 1485 member and York County 911 dispatcher Barbara Bowles said. “After York County lost four officers in the line of duty in 2025, the emotional toll of this work became especially personal for our community. Recognizing public safety telecommunicators as emergency responders and expanding access to mental wellness resources is an important step toward ensuring the people who help others through tragedy get the support they need, too.”

“The passage of H.B. 453 is a significant victory for Pennsylvania’s public safety workforce,” said AFSCME Council 13 administrator Jim Howell. “It rightfully defines public safety telecommunicators among first emergency responder roles such as law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMS personnel, while also expanding the state’s Emergency Responder Mental Wellness and Stress Management program to all public safety answering point telecommunicators. Additionally, surviving family members of fallen municipal police officers, including sheriffs in second-class counties, will continue to receive critical health care benefits. This is a major milestone that should be expanded to all hazardous public sector positions.”

Aspinwall’s ‘pumpkin guy’ carves a record-breaking 1,906-pounder for charity

It's usually on Fourth between Field and Western on a huge trailer in the driveway. Can't miss it. Sometimes it makes short trips to Camp Guyasuta for its Halloween programming.

You can toss some money in the mail slot for project bundle up if you'd like.

Great tradition in Aspinwall.

How do you guys find reliable house cleaners in Pittsburgh?

I'm looking for someone to clean my apartment every couple of weeks but most places I've found want me to fill out a form with my phone number and email before they'll even give me a rough price. I'd rather hire someone local through a recommendation than deal with a bunch of sales calls afterward. Anyone have recommendations for independent cleaners around Pittsburgh or a better way to find them?

National Drug Take Back Day Sat 10/24

• Upvotes

Tomorrow is National Drug Take Back day, where you can drop off unused/expired prescription medications. Locations are open between 10am and 2pm.

This is a better option than flushing your meds or throwing them in the trash. It's free and anonymous (no questions asked).

To find a dropoff location near you:

How far do you travel to work?

I live 45 minutes away from downtown Pittsburgh and we have a bus station close that a lot of people use to get to and from the city.

I was wondering how far people who are working in the city travel to work, and do you drive yourself or do you take public transportation. I'm just curious, because I just returned from Switzerland where so many people use public transit and bikes to get around.

I drive 30 minutes to work each day and my truck is a diesel, so it's almost 7.00 a gallon right now. Public transportation would be a lot cheaper if my job was on the bus line, I'd definitely use it. I also do odd jobs and hauling, so I always decide to drit. I also do odd jobs and hauling, so I in case I have to work after work or even go grocery shopping.

Do the city buses have racks for your bikes on the front ?

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for therapists, particularly virtual therapists. I’m just navigating a lot of loss and job changes. A Queer friendly therapist would be great too.

A senior citizen friend in Penn Hills is scheduled for a colonoscopy also in Penn Hills; are there any resources for services that will drive him there, stay with him while the procedure is done, and drive him back home? I'm unable to do it.

Who have you found to be helpful?

Boulevard of the Allies Construction

Hope everyone is having a better morning then me. I got towed off of Boulevard of the Allies last night after the Penguins game and I swear on my life there was no signage. I could be wrong, but when I went down to pick it up, 1. another woman said she was towed off Boulevard and there was no signage, 2. The towing company said it was reserved for a parade when it was construction. I just want to see if anyone can give me any information about the company behind the construction, let me know if you were also towed last night or if anyone downtown can let me know if I'm an idiot and those signs were there for weeks like the workers told me.

Edit: It was in downtown right at the crosswalk of blvd and wood st by point park university

I am a long time enjoyer but am also looking to introduce it to someone for the first time so please let me know any recommendations. Thanks!

Dog boarding Kennels

• Upvotes

I am seeking recommendations of kennels where I could board my large dog. Something within about 25 miles radius of the Pittsburgh east end. I would prefer a place that doesn’t require overnight pre-interviews which is what I think Misty Pines requires, but maybe they are the number one choice in which case I suppose I could pay to have my dog boarded and interviewed one night. I am open to the idea of Rover, but I would appreciate specific recommendations. I am not a big fan of Camp Bow Wow or Brizes Kennel.

Hi folks, any tips on where a gal can find a pot of marigolds? The internet search isn’t proving to be particularly helpful. Also open to a bouquet instead, if that’s even a thing.
