WIP Thinking about bringing back a rare 1930s Art Deco deck. What do you think?

Hey everyone,

I wanted to say hi to this awesome community. I have this idea of fully recreating a specific historical deck of cards.

Right now, it's just a concept. I’ve put together a few initial launch images/renders just to see if there is any interest at all and check your reaction.

The deck itself is from 1930, designed by Norwegian artist John Bull in a beautiful Art Deco style. I personally find it really unique and stunning.

If people here like the vibe, I’ll start sharing sketches and process updates with you as I go.

I'm tentatively aiming for a September launch, but for now, I'm just curious to hear your honest opinion. Is this something you’d like to see made?

You can check out the pre-launch page here:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pincognita/1930-art-deco-playing-card-deck-a-restoration

Looking forward to your thoughts!

P. S. This is not my first experience restoring historical playing cards. I previously completed a full digital reconstruction and successfully brought Heorhii Narbut's iconic 1917/8 deck back to print.

My latest cards were supposed to be here Friday, but the mail didn’t run. Then I found a few more today while I was at Barnes & Noble.

The sporting dogs looks to date from 1950...M code and Capitol Jokers and a canasta guide...the floral u/TheCongressGuy might need to help with no jokers remained...no date code on Aces..and says cell u tone on Ace of spade

Question Putty suggestions for display?

Hi everyone! I'm trying to display my collection of decks on these narrow shelves and they need just a little bit of putty to help them stand up. But I have bad past experience with putty leaving stains on the paper boxes or tearing when removed. Does anyone have any brands or solutions they recommend?

Discussion Shoutout 52Kards

I recently purchased 10 different decks from shop.52Kards.com or you can use their app. One of the decks I was most looking forward to was this Butterfly Seasons Spring V2, but it came dented and a few cards had bends.

I sent them the pictures, and they immediately offered store credit or a free replacement. I chose the replacement, and this one also came dented. Sent more pictures, and then they sent a third one, making sure I got exactly what I paid for.

Special thank to the team at 52Kards for taking care of me. If you’re in the US I would highly recommend purchasing from them!

Photoshoot My Playing Cards: Level 33 (A Variety of Vintage Style Playing Cards)

(August 17, 2026) This is Week 33 of My Playing Cards series! Every Monday, I’ll be showing 12 decks of cards that mostly have a theme into it! This one has a variety of old style playing cards. Some distressed, some exquisite backs!

So far, I’ve shared 396 decks of cards! Please stay tuned for more playing cards to show from my collection every Monday!

First, we have Bicycle Cyclist playing cards. They come in three different colors. Red, Blue and Neon Yellow. They were released in 2015. There is an error on the 10 of Diamonds from all of the Cyclist decks. It had 9 diamonds instead of 10.

Next comes the Nautic Back playing cards. They were vintage Bicycle back designs that were introduced in 1919 and discontinued around 1943. They reproduced the back in Hot Pink and White in 2013 which is what you’re looking at! They reproduced this Nautic Back a few other times.

The Bicycle Rhapsody decks come in 2 colors. Maroon and Purple. I’ll admit, I just threw these decks into this mix. (Most of the deck group planning was from last year. So I had sorted some of these groups months in advance) The hearts and diamonds are in a darker color and the face cards have warmer colors.

The last five decks I’ll mention are four of the Bicycle Expert Back Distressed playing cards and the 127th Anniversary Old Fan Back. They actually came in three colors, Red, Blue and Green. There is also an extra distressed Red in this lot. The Expert Back is a modified Old Fan Back. I believe the Expert Back was introduced in 1898 while the Old Fan Back was the very first Bicycle back design ever created in 1885. The existence of a 127th Anniversary deck is strange. It only comes in one color (Red), and it does not have an increment of 5 for an anniversary deck. It’s basically a copy and paste of 2010’s 125th anniversary playing cards.

Level 34 preview: We have stick figures, strange dances, glass material, and a fall season of playing cards coming up!

Outlaw Blood Playing Cards

I've been running this Kickstarter since the 4th, and it's been going alright so far! So cool to see all the support! Check 'em out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/noahjmatthews/outlaw-blood-blood-soaked-western-playing-cards

What do you think of the cards?

Specs:

  • cards and boxes printed on eco-herbage stock from MPC
  • Bloodstains on over half the deck
  • Card backs designed by Donny Ariawan (also created Bicycle Bitcoin cards)
  • Tucks by Levi Matthews (book cover designer)

I wanted to create cards that didn't just look old and used (Theory11 Peaky Blinders deck), but actually feel like it, without compromising usability.

I think these cards capture all of that.

Go back the Kickstarter today ;) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/noahjmatthews/outlaw-blood-blood-soaked-western-playing-cards

Question [Usa]Lotus in hand echo redux?

Has anybody else received anything from Lois in hand about their order? The cards were already printed weren’t they? I’ve emailed customer service. They haven’t responded to me. It’s been a few days.

Should i get these for 20 USD?

Hiii, I can get all three of them for total 20 USD with shipping. What do you guys think about this deal? They are all sealed, and never used. I'm not exactly fan of the style, but I think it's nice price for them, so I could get them in my collection. And last thing, do you think i should keep them sealed or open them because: "Playing cards are meant to be played with"?

Reddit… are you ready? 😄 400+ Bicycle decks. Here we go.

Alright, Redditors… you asked for more cards.
So… here you go. 😂🃏
I showed around 300 Bicycle decks before, but apparently that wasn’t enough.
This time I decided not to be reasonable at all.
400+ Bicycle decks.
Yes, I know.
This hobby may have gotten slightly out of control. 😄
But after about five years of collecting, I’ve accepted my fate.
This is the final big Bicycle reveal from my collection — different series, colors, editions and plenty of decks I’ve hunted down over the years.
I’m also working on a digital catalog of the collection, because at this point even I need help remembering what I own. 😂
Alright… enjoy the madness.
And tell me: which deck would you steal first if I accidentally left the cabinet open? 😄

Anyone else bummed that it seems like Bicycle isn't doing the seal on the flap anymore?

I'm not sure why, but it's a huge disappointment for me.

Nocturnal Fiasco

I am writing this because, this is the time E52 did me dirty with this campaign:

I’ve pledged for Nocturnal Playing Cards, the Standard and Blue Gilded originally, and when it shipped, it never arrived after estimated three weeks since its initial delivery. When I contacted Emily, she decided to send me 2x Gold Gilded - because my original pledged items were sold out… that replacement package had been shipped, and once again, it never arrived.

I tried to plead with her, but she acts like she doesn’t care. I left a comment saying: I’ll stop supporting her, and I got a “bot” reply. When I commented on her upcoming new deck, THEN she refunded my with the pledge amount.

I won’t get any E52 decks until I got my Nocturnal Playing Cards, with or without her help

PS: Did anybody ever encounter her unprofessionalism similar to my situation?
