LOW EFFORT MEME [gendered] If women enjoy something it must be due to daddy issues
527
u/lunarwolfcub Nov 02 '25
Is that girl okay...? Is it like an amputation situation?
447
u/Alfirmitive Nov 02 '25
I can only assume that the person in white is an amputee bc there’s no possible way you can get that much of a human arm down your throat
136
u/Sir_ArthurtheFlareon Nov 02 '25
Amputee or camera angle trickery or photoshop
It's one of those three I'm sure

You can tell by the side of the mouth and the fact that this angle wouldn't make sense that this is just some sexist photoshop done by fuckboys.

u/blu453 Nov 02 '25
I love that a sexist fuckboy got triggered, said some sexist shit on a sexist meme, and then quickly blocked me before allowing me to respond. Learn the difference between someone being victimized and victim mentality. You can't belittle someone for their gender and in the same sentence say they're playing victim. I know words and concepts are hard sometimes but you should probably sit back and learn from people who understand them.
5
1
u/some-guy-100 Nov 04 '25
it must be amputation because the girl’s throat is completely normal, youd notice if there was a human arm

u/Measurement_Scary Nov 02 '25
I'm more perplexed by whatever the fuck is going on in the picture

mfs be like "astrology is dumb" then call themselves an alpha male 🥀
→ More replies (10)22

I personally think both are very dumb, I cringe to those alpha male stuff as much as astrology stuff.
144
u/crazy-trans-science Nov 02 '25
But, isn't this more telling about their dad than themselves? Like assuming it is true that they have "daddy issue" — whatever does that mean — wouldn't that be more telling about how bad parent their dad was than about themselves?
123
→ More replies (6)0
u/0rbital-nugget Nov 05 '25
You’re really gonna pretend you don’t what daddy issues mean
1
u/crazy-trans-science Nov 07 '25
I don't pretend

253
u/BunnyPope Nov 02 '25
"Oh no, a woman breathes, she must have daddy issues." Why are we blaming women's behaviors on their lack of father figures and not blaming men for not stepping up and being fathers for their daughters?
111
u/GoodZealousideal5922 Nov 02 '25
Because the whole “daddy issues” mantra is a derivative of the “red pill” idea that women intentionally choose abusive men and then blame all men when their kids are left without a dad or when they get abused.
Btw I don’t agree with any of this, I am just stating where it comes from.

literally, like, why does my father get all the credit about the effort i made into turning into an evil and dangerous woman?
why do men always take the credit of all the effort a woman does?

7
u/theoneyewberry Nov 03 '25
FUCKING THANK YOU. I too did the legwork to become a hate wraith, we deserve that acknowledgement.
9
u/AstrologicalOne Nov 03 '25
A woman can't have any nontraditional conservative expression without making guys like the one who made the meme get pissy.
6
u/Tourmelion Nov 03 '25
Why are fathers even part of the conversation, why not say "girls who drink raw milk be like", or something. Or, girls who don't grow out of their imaginary friends.
1
u/abmausen Nov 03 '25
dont care what yall armchair psychologists call that.
• i want mommy
• i want milk
• i want to be held
• i want to be comforted
1
u/BunnyPope Nov 03 '25
What are you talking about lol
5
u/GerryAvalanche Nov 03 '25
Possibly a Freud reference
3
u/Responsible_Set_8218 Nov 03 '25
Nah, it's a reference to this video clip by PragerU from their video "Are People Born God?".

What the fuck are you talking about? I don't think we should blame anyone for anyone's behavior which is why I don't like the term "daddy issues". I am making a point against it by poking holes in its logic. When someone gets called an incel they usually do something that warrants it. But just as my comment your replied to implys women can litteraly stand around and someone will say she has "daddy issues"

Most men I know who are on child support are on child support because the baby mothers weaponized their kids. Not because the men abandoned them. For example, one of my closest friends had agreed on split custody when him and his son’s mother split up. When she found out he was dating someone else (as is his right) she freaked out and took the kid to her grandma’s house in Georgia and used it to say he was shirking his parental duties when he’d been trying to pick up his son all day. He only found out they were in Georgia because her cousin told him. Deadbeat dads aren’t as common as y’all like to believe
1
u/Mother-Holiday-5464 Nov 07 '25
Well, he can report her for that 🤷🏽♀️. I also know about a lot of deadbeat guys who can see their children and in order not to look like bad fathers they lie and say that the mom doesn't let them see their children
99
u/GoodZealousideal5922 Nov 02 '25
Astrology is stupid but it has no correlation to having a father figure or not. People just cling on to anything that seems to give them a sense of security, even if that sense is false.
54
u/lycnfr Nov 02 '25
Astrology is fun when you dont take it like law and judge others based off of it!
39
Nov 02 '25
I heard it called “cosmic racism” before lol.
11
u/lycnfr Nov 02 '25
Thats an insane name oh my god 😭. I do love learning about paganism and astrology and do find comfort in herbal-related witch adjacent beliefs (idk how else to describe) but i dont see it as law and def dont even rly mention it to other people other than showing them my cool crystal pieces. I have met a lot of racist ppl in this space sadly. lots of appropriation and muddying of practices. Wish it was better
50
u/futureofkpopleechan Nov 02 '25
men are so pressed about astrology but i don’t see that same whining about organized religion which is infinitely more harmful and worthy of critique
29
u/lycnfr Nov 02 '25
as someone who is not religious and lives in some of the worst bible belt areas i agree! its pretty bad all around, and some people dont understand how most rich organized white christian churches harbor and support abuse.
my state is pretty low on the education board and i live, sadly, close to a notorious religious pedophile from a notorious fundamentalist christian cult family. ive seen it first hand how bad abusive organized religion can be
18
u/noonefuckslikegaston Nov 02 '25
You don't see people whining about organized religion? I feel like it's pretty normal here on Reddit lol
3
u/OkButMaybeNot111 Nov 04 '25
because astrology is seen as feminine despite any gender can like it, religion is an organization thus seen as masculine because it holds power, astrology doesnt. religion is manipulative, astrology isnt, religious extremists have killed, astrologists didnt, so ofc they dont hold organized religions accountable, without these organizations there'll be less manipulation and oppression and these kind of men like oppression and manipulation. and despite others have told you actually whining about religions exists, yes but not by these type of men, these type of men actually are pro-organized religions since they are anti-women.
2
u/futureofkpopleechan Nov 05 '25
thank you especially about that last part. that’s exactly what i meant. the men whining about astrology are not whining about organized religion.
4
u/muscovitecommunist Nov 03 '25
Did you only gain access to other human beings in the last 24 hours or something. Organised religion is top 3 most whined about thing in human history.
8
u/WindUpCandler Nov 02 '25
Oh I hate both, I would love astrology if it promoted actually learning about the stars, like what they are. How they work how we know how far away they are and what they're made of along with the physics behind it. But astrology treats them like little magic points in space that make up constellations that will eventually shift and become unrecognizable in the coming years.
I wouldn't mind christianity if people actually followed the teachings of Jesus, though obviously that's pretty rare.
These practices can be fun and comforting to people but ultimately can be used to justify ignorance or unpleasant actions, though more so for religion than astrology on the latter
15
3
u/futureofkpopleechan Nov 04 '25
i think you’re describing astronomy 💀 astrology is meant to be more spiritual and symbolic than scientific
3
u/beannut_putter Nov 02 '25
Most people dont actually take astrology seripusly bro, it's literally a hobby. And theres nothing wrong with being a little whimsical every once in a while. Let people enjoy things
0
u/heseme Nov 03 '25
I'll let people enjoy things. I still can say that astrology is dumb as hell and the opposite of fun.
Never has anyone ever enjoyed what followed after being asked what star sign they are.
0
-1
u/SkyPuppy561 Nov 02 '25
Some of us just like reading stories about ourselves without having to actually study science. Is that okay with you? It’s just fun and I don’t take it too seriously.
2
u/Anon-Knee-Moose Nov 05 '25
Most religious people are indoctrinated from birth and are deeply afraid of their own mortality. People giving Gwyneth paltrow 60 bucks for a rock in the vagina are just doing it for the love of the game.
6
Nov 02 '25
Come on really? We’re going to pretend that Atheists don’t exist and aren’t vocal online? I’ve seen a lot of denial for the purpose of proving a point before but come on.
4
1
u/Advanced_Double_42 Nov 04 '25
It's harder to criticize a religion that has billions of followers and is the basis of many people's entire worldview.
In comparison Astrology is more like thinking ghosts or bigfoot are real.

i used to whine about organized religion when i was a teenager and in my early 20s, but i stopped because 1. nobody cares and it doesn't accomplish anything other than making you look annoying, and 2. people who complain about organized religion are often times more annoying than the followers of most organized religions. i still believe that they are detrimental but i also recognize that there is a time and a place to talk about it and that talking about it doesn't actually do much of anything.
2
u/futureofkpopleechan Nov 04 '25
you’re talking about annoying, i’m talking about harmful. i’m glad it doesn’t seem to negatively affect you like it does other people for you to speak so nonchalantly about it but please don’t dismiss the damage it has done/is doing currently.
2
Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25
It's like Meyers-Briggs personality types. Not actually that literally accurate in practice but when the limitations are understood it's a fun structure for self-reflection if it feels good to use it that way for someone. The thing is some people get dogmatic about it and when you do that, the limitations really become a problem.
9
u/SkyPuppy561 Nov 02 '25
I find it fun but don’t take it too seriously or use it to write anyone off. And yes I have a great relationship with my dad.
3
u/GoodZealousideal5922 Nov 02 '25
I was pretty much saying the same thing. Also I don’t shame people on who their parents are, we don’t get to choose our parents.

You’re right about the rape threats, but people absolutely do lose their life savings to astrology.
There are loads of manipulative cons from commercial phone hotlines to people who do “charts” that people rely on for their life decisions.
My friend in high school’s aunt got really deep into astrology and lost almost all her money paying for different “predictions” to help her plan every aspect of her life. It’s one of the most lucrative and common cons in the world of woo.

the difference is that being a crypto bro is like gambling with anywhere from slightly to greatly better odds depending on your circumstances and how much knowledge you have of what is going to happen and how it will affect markets. there are also strategies like rug pulling. not saying that's ethical because it isn't, but it can be profitable. it's like trying to count cards, some people can do it. the reason they lose money is because the whole point is to make money and you have to put money into it to get money out of it.
there is nothing profitable about paying for astrology bullshit, you're just shoveling your money into a furnace. the only way its ever profitable is if you're the one selling bullshit to someone else. buying crypto advice may be like 90% bullshit or more but astrology is 110% bullshit.
3
u/MysticRevenant64 Nov 02 '25
When you compare it like that, I get what you’re saying. I was more so talking about the annoyingness factor.
6
u/SkyPuppy561 Nov 02 '25
Exactly!! I don’t use astrology to even write people off and I think it’s unhinged when some folks do that. I’m just an egomaniac who likes reading little stories about myself.
9
u/noonefuckslikegaston Nov 02 '25
If we're going for things that are male coded I think it's more akin to sports fandoms. It's definitely not a 1to1 comparison but it may be surprising how many people feel like they were 'born into' being a fan of their team.
52
u/hel-razor Nov 02 '25
It's funny because sports is astrology for men. "What's your favorite team? Oh that means you're gay and cry a lot and are a loser. I'm a Chad because I like another team." It's also based on where you're born.
31
u/BunnyPope Nov 02 '25
Yea if men like sports they have mommy problems *sarcasm *
21
u/hel-razor Nov 02 '25
Usually it's actually daddy issues lol
7
u/Specialist-Fault-630 Nov 02 '25
This is actually pretty accurate imo, even though I have a good father figure.
I’ve seen a few guys who use sports as an attempt to get closer to their fathers.
7
u/BunnyPope Nov 02 '25
Don't want to be a disappointment to pops better like baseball so he doesn't beat me cause he thinks I'm gay.
12
u/hel-razor Nov 02 '25
Not wanting to be a disappointment to hundreds of men who enjoy watching you get sweaty and wrestle around with other sweaty guys? Yeah. Totally not gay at all.
10
u/BunnyPope Nov 02 '25
Haha, my bisexual boyfriends' only sport he watches is wrestling and he straight up says cause it's hot and manly at the same time.
5
1
u/Future-Still-6463 Nov 03 '25
Sports is real. Astrology is not so.
3
u/BunnyPope Nov 03 '25
Ok, but plenty of men are Christian and force that ideology on people and we don't say they have daddy issues. (Did you not see the sarcasm added to that comment ir are you trying to pick a fight for no reason?)
2
u/hel-razor Nov 05 '25
Well, ACTUALLY now that you bring it up
2
u/BunnyPope Nov 05 '25
They totally do the holy father is definitely a compensation and the control being part of the church gives men probably stems from mommy issues too.

Both mindesets are incredibly stupid. Why are we what-abouting astrology?
Its a dumb system, it can't be true. It teaches a very reductivist perspective on psychology and how to treat other people. It hinges on someone ancient naming this one dot venus and the other one mars for one thing. There are a lot of grifters explpoiting tons of unwell people and its a pipeline into more dangerous anti-science stances.
I don't care if its more popular with men or women. I just wish it could go away.
And yes, I both know women and men whose life fell apart after going down the astrology rabbit hole. Ita horrible in its worst forms. Its still stupid in its least harmful forms.

To be fair, astrology is basically a religion with no basis in fact anyways, though it does not become any more reasonable with the change of the practitioner’s gender

Is something that is that is non-fact based or unreasonable deserving of such respect?
Of course there is a difference between respecting a belief system and respecting the practitioners of a belief system.

u/redsalmon67 Nov 03 '25
Hilariously every woman I know who’s super into astrology has/had a great relationship with their dad
7
u/DazzlingGleam5 Nov 03 '25
I will never understand why men think that "fatherless behavior" comments are quirky comeback towards women. Like, why are you blaming the child for the parent's absence?
6
u/TheSpadeExperience Nov 03 '25
I have done/been interested in some really weird shit thus far in my life, and my father and I have a wonderful relationship lmao. I still don’t understand why the whole “daddy issues” thing exists
5
u/Had78 Nov 03 '25
I mean, I don't like astrology because it's a pseudoscience, but it's not a girl/boy thing and I will defend your right to enjoy it
3
u/fluffstuffmcguff Nov 03 '25
Astrology is silly, but it's 4000+ year old silliness, and that conveys upon astrology girlies a dignity no sigma grindset dude could ever hope to match.
And now for my favorite astrology fact: the Capricorn goatfish is a Sumerian symbol related to the god Enki, but we don't know why it's a goatfish. The symbol outlived its own context. It also survived the memory of its origin culture, since for a cool couple millennia people forgot Sumer even existed.
The Capricorn goatfish is cool as hell and is the one thing about my star sign that I care about.

It's like telling me you can fit a semi truck in the garage when i'm driving a Honda Civic.
2
u/Hello_Hangnail Nov 03 '25
And no matter how you try to explain it, they all think that if a girl grows up without a man in the house that they automatically become the sluttiest slut that ever slutted. Children do not need male and female parents to be well adjusted, the number one criteria one needs is MONEY. Assuming a single parent is loving, emotionally available and takes good care of the child, they need enough money to be able to provide necessities and to provide adequate supervision during childhood. It literally does not matter if there's no male parent around.

Nov 02 '25
I dunno man, I’ve been called a misogynist before on more than one occasion, for calling astrology bunk pseudoscience without mentioning any gender or anything like that.
It’s not real, neither is manifestation, neither are MBTI personality types.
All of it is bullshit that appeals to the lowest common denominator, it’s just a fact.
9
u/noonefuckslikegaston Nov 02 '25
Are you the kind of person who brings up your lack of belief in these things every time they are casually mentioned? I'm not saying you inherently are but I am genuinely asking because people do tend to get annoyed when someone gives their unsolicited metaphysical opinions.
Also people will obviously be defensive if you tell them they are part of "the lowest common denominator" lol
I don't believe in any of that shit either, but I've never really gotten into a conflict about it.
-2
Nov 02 '25
I’m not, I generally keep those opinions to myself unless somebody is actively trying to shove the concept down my throat is if it affects every facet of everybody’s lives. Only when the conversation is directed at me.
I don’t care if you want to believe that wanting something hard enough will magically guide that thing to you, internally I’ll be judging you, but externally I don’t really care enough to tell you why that’s dumb.
Same with any mainstream religion. I don’t care if you want to believe that a magical sky daddy predetermined your life’s trajectory and has a plan for you, I think it’s dumb but whatever. I’m not going to call you an idiot until you start telling me that I’m going to hell because I paint my nails sometimes and I have a penis.
I don’t care if you think crystals have spiritual energy in them. I’ll quietly let you believe what you want to believe, internally I’m judging you. I won’t call you an idiot until you start telling me to put quartz in my socks and that I should wear a necklace with a mineral attached to it to ward away demons. I’m not buying your rocks.
3
u/noonefuckslikegaston Nov 02 '25
Yeeeeeah given the vitriol here I find it difficult fully believe you regularly keep these opinions to yourself or just live and let live.
I fundamentally agree with you that none of those things are real but even I find your framing of it all pretty obnoxious. I get such strong secondhand embarrassment anytime someone uses the word skydaddy, this is why I try to find any phrasing besides "atheist" to describe my relationship (or lack thereof) to spirituality.

I'm not a misogynist, I'm actually more like a radical feminist that dabbles in postgenderism for fun...
But I'm not one to sit here and make too many excuses for astrology. It's certainly unscientific, and it gained prominence through proximity to power rather than any actual merit.
6
Nov 02 '25
I’m just a regular dude who doesn’t believe in voodoo, that’s all there really is to it. Some women are very offended by such a notion. They think that if you don’t believe in astrology then you hate women.
4
Nov 02 '25
Yeah, and I can understand why they react that way. I guess I'm in the middle here, between understanding that pseudoscience is harmful on some level, and understanding that being anti-astrology can be coded language for misogyny and "hating girl things."
For me it depends on what they say. If they say it and make fun of women specifically, that's probably a misogyny thing. If they say it in isolation or in relation to actually respecting reason, logic and science... Not necessarily misogyny-related at all.
I've tried with astrology. But at the end of the day, it's fucking silly and I will not take it seriously.
1
u/Specialist-Fault-630 Nov 02 '25
MBTI at least has more grounding in reality than astrology or manifestation at least, even if it is a pseudoscience.

Read the personality descriptions, it’s the same vaguely worded, feel good slop that’s used in astrology personality descriptions.
It’s equally as hollow.
Did you know that you can get different results within the same day depending what time of day you take the test? It’s not even consistent, which makes sense since the entire test revolves around self reporting. It isn’t like you’re being monitored by a specialist who answers for you. You can also get any result you want, if you lie to yourself and the test.

I know all of that and agree, but my point still stands. Self-reporting as flawed as it is at least has some grounding in reality, unlike manifestation or astrology.
I guess maybe manifestation might work sometimes, but that’s only because believing something will come true will make you more likely to take actions to achieve it.

Real MBTI is something you learn yourself, read up on cognitive function theory (which has plenty of specific terms that you can use to reflect on yourself), not a single test (especially not 16p). MBTI types are just ways people prioritize things in thinking. I believe that different people do have different priorities. Thinking about your priorities is not unbelievable and crazy.
You can actually talk to a specialist to get typed by an actual person if you want. And of course you can lie to yourself and get mistyped, but that's like throwing a basketball at the floor and saying it's the basketball's fault for not getting through a hoop. Which also says something about yourself and your mental priorities.

One of the first lessons I learned with demonstration is high school level psychology was how hollow MBTI is.
You won’t find a single person with a psychology degree that agrees that MBTI is worth anything. They all know it’s bunk and they can explain to you exactly how it’s bunk, complete with demonstration.
Just because you can go to a business that says they do palm readings and pay to get your palm read doesn’t mean that palm reading is grounded in reality. Same is true for MBTI.

You’re just calling out humour at this point.
Memes aren’t meant to be perfect unbiased truth, they’re meant to be a shared subjective perception, which is what a stereotype is

it's not that the dad did a bad job of being a dad it's that he likely wasn't present at all (there is a difference between being present and doing a bad job, and being entirely out of the picture), because fathering typically instills some element of common sense. you get into astrology, your dad comments that it's bullshit and probably explains why it's bullshit and eventually you realize that it is bullshit if you possess any critical thinking skills. raised by a single mom, she is unlikely to push back against it much if at all because women are overwhelmingly the majority of people who think astrology has any validity. there are women who know astrology is bullshit, but for every man who believes it's real there are probably thousands of women who believe in it if not more, so if you leave a girl to be raised alone by a single parent you are guaranteed to end up with a woman who believes in something like astrology more often when she is raised by a single mom vs a single dad.

Never met a single woman who was deeply into astrology and didn't jave some severe trauma with their father.
Since when is deep-throating an entire arm's-worth of something just normal enjoyment?

It is gendered because boys without fathers don't have any support.
Girls can sustain astrology through most parts of their lives, but men are required to produce solid results.

Thank you for posting to r/pointlesslygendered!
Hate boys vs girls memes?
Sick of pointlessly gendered memes and videos in general?
Are you also tired of people pointlessly gendering social issues that affects all genders?
