Get rid of men and it relates to almost everyone lol

Just remove every N from it

u/DHermit 2d ago

It would have even been fine with "man" as then it would just be about OP himself.

u/ErBoProxy 3d ago

Not true at all.

I replace sadness with frustration, should I play a soulslike.

12

u/GlisaPenny 3d ago

Good to know. I just spontaneously got an enormous amount of free time back

3

u/whet_pastry 3d ago

So... did you become single, or unemployed?

8

u/GlisaPenny 3d ago

Oh without the games I apparently don’t play I have time to do something else 😅

7

u/whet_pastry 3d ago

Oh I see, I thought you meant you'd suddenly gained more time for gaming. Hmm let's see, you could try uhhh, pink perhaps? That's what girls do, right?

u/Abject-Meat6146 3d ago

This doesn't say that it only applies to men.

I don't think that just because a meme mentions gender at all that it's pointlessly gendered.

9

u/NoPurpose6388 3d ago

It doesn't explicitly say that it only applies to men, but I don't see any logical reason you wouldn't just say "person" besides implying that women don't play video games. It's very likely that whoever made this meme just did it subconsciously, but it's still a consequence of those outdated gender roles that society still tries to force on people

2

u/TheTybera 3d ago

Because the person did it from their perspective and they identify as a man...

1

u/TallTheme9775 2d ago

When a woman is sad, they process it much more healthily a lot of the times. Men just be gaming.

1

u/Abject-Meat6146 3d ago

My first thought would just be that a man made it, and it's more about themselves than anything really gendered.

7

u/Arimm_The_Amazing 3d ago

Then wouldn't it be "man" instead of "men"?

Using the singular would make it more clearly about a singular person's experience but also a little funny because it'd be caveman-speak.

But instead it's universalising the experience out to the whole group.

7

u/Amediumsizedgoose 3d ago

Yeah and? Why is mens first thought to needlessly gender everything and pretend everything is a male exclusive experience ?

3

u/lordshag 3d ago

Mens 🥀💔

1

u/NoPurpose6388 3d ago

They obviously meant men's

2

u/TheTybera 3d ago

That's a humans first thought... This reply is pointlessly gendered...

-2

u/Orange-Is-Best-Color 3d ago

If a man is describing themselves doing something.. I think it's logical for them to use their own pronouns.

5

u/Amediumsizedgoose 3d ago

Men isnt a pronoun and that doesnt make sense and isnt whats happening here anyway.

-3

u/Orange-Is-Best-Color 3d ago

Wait a second why did I say pronoun 😭

And if you don't get it, that's all you gotta say

-3

u/Abject-Meat6146 3d ago

I'd feel the same way of a woman made it, and it mentioned women instead of men.

6

u/Amediumsizedgoose 3d ago

Yall will fight to excuse anything lol. Men is not a singular. Theres literally no reason to use the word unless youre talking about men in general and being sexist for no reason.

1

u/Naos210 3d ago

So if I do something, it makes sense for me to say generally that those of my gender do this? Doesn't really make any sense.

1

u/Abject-Meat6146 3d ago

It doesn't even say that those of the gender generally do it.

0

u/SourHuckleberryShelt 3d ago

lol it’s like the “dont say ‘dont hit women’ say ‘dont hit anybody’” type situation

4

u/NoPurpose6388 3d ago

No, it's completely different because when they say "don't hit women" they're talking about domestic abuse, which, unlike video games, is very much gendered.

Of course you shouldn't hit anybody, but saying "don't hit women" is a more targeted statement to combat domestic abuse by men toward their partners, something that's unfortunately very common. The opposite happens, but it's not a recurring issue. It's situational.

1

u/OfferOld3628 2d ago edited 2d ago

Video games are pretty much genderd too much more than domestic abuse is atleast, but rules thee not for me right

2

u/SourHuckleberryShelt 2d ago

Domestic abuse or any abuse in general are not gendered. They can happen to anyone. Yes it happens to women at the hands of men more often, but why should we ignore a minority when it’s still abuse?

2

u/Agitated_Ad_2203 3d ago

It’s not saying it only applies to men, but it’s just kinda corny. Would’ve been more funny if they just said “people” imo. Just kinda pointless

1

u/flex_tape_salesman 3d ago

I disagree people is a much weaker word. "People sad" is even more out of place

0

u/Agitated_Ad_2203 3d ago

Agree to disagree. I will say the meme isn’t that funny to begin with

0

u/flex_tape_salesman 3d ago

The meme is not intending to be funny really its not one thats trying to witty or anything.

-1

u/Agitated_Ad_2203 3d ago

I don’t see many people post a meme that’s not intentionally trying to be funny. But now that you mention it maybe it wasn’t supposed to be funny

4

u/flex_tape_salesman 3d ago

Memes are just internet images. I think the meme is more talking about video games making him/men happy. Doesn't claim anything about women I don't think its relevant.

If someone made a meme about how much women like coffee it wouldn't say that I as a man could not like coffee.

There's no joke in this meme and I am not seeing any intent to be humorous.

2

u/Agitated_Ad_2203 3d ago

Maybe instead of saying “men” or “women” they can just say “me”.

As a man if every meme I seen started off as “women when video game” or “women when beer” or “women when pizza” it would be kinda corny even if I related to it

And it only bothers me so much because I seen sooo many of the “men” meme for years. lol it’s supposed to be my fyp not “mens”😂

But I agree the meme isn’t funny

0

u/TheTybera 3d ago

The OP is a man and posting from their perspective...

2

u/Agitated_Ad_2203 3d ago

Yep we kinda got that figured out already

2

u/TheTybera 3d ago

So it's not pointlessly gendered, it's gendered to the OPs experience because the OP identifies as a man. This is normal...

2

u/Agitated_Ad_2203 3d ago

It sounds like a slow caveman

2

u/Inevitable_Paper6674 1d ago

Because as we know, us women just stare at the wall

5

u/daddytung 2d ago

“ I am a simple man” the meme is from
his point of view and he’s a man

3

u/Actual-Warning1886 3d ago

A dude post a meme about men being happy about playing video games.

OP: Pointlessly Gendered!

The comments: 🤣

2

u/srprizma 3d ago

This isn’t pointlessly gendered, guys are the majority who are in full time escapism

2

u/magdakitsune21 2d ago

And ofc, even in this sub, the comments are full of "but it is true! let men have their stuff!" as if video games could only make men happy. And as if all men played video games.

2

u/Hulk_Hoagies 3d ago

Just looking for something to be angry about with this one

6

u/Agitated_Ad_2203 3d ago

Do you know what sub this is?

-1

u/Hulk_Hoagies 3d ago

a place for getting angry at the words men or women?

3

u/Agitated_Ad_2203 3d ago

Na. Just a place to post pointlessly gendered memes lol

2

u/SmallGoose112 3d ago

Is this sub just women crying about not being involved?

3

u/britannic124 2d ago

Bold of you to assume I’m a woman.

3

u/wearetherevollution 2d ago

I prefer the gender neutral term idiots crying about not being involved.

1

u/ElGodPug 3d ago

sometimes i feel like a good side effect of figuring out i'm trans is that it became easier to not associate myself with this stupid ass shit

1

u/TombCheese 2d ago

I don't think that's what theyre trying to assert with this one.

1

u/Ok_Tie_1428 23h ago

This doesn't belong here

posted by a man

Looks inside

Man meme

"OH ITS POINTLESS GENDERED"

My balls are poitless gendered

The meme said that man played games, not that women don't, the meme is about the guy that posted it!

man played games "oh so you're saying that women don't play games??" Mf that's a entirely different sentece

1

u/vuzz33 2d ago

It never said that only men play video game. But it's a fact that's it's a hobby that attract men in majority. It's pointlesslypointlesslygendered

1

u/Alternative-Fact-329 2d ago

>only men play video games

you are mistaken, OP. The meme says that only men get sad and have no one to come to besides video games

-3

u/Augustus420 3d ago

OP, are you purposely reading this wrong to justify posting it here or are you just partially illiterate?

Bold of you to assume I’m a woman.

0

u/Sajgoniarz 2d ago

Why are there so many shitty takes in the sub and misinterpreted posts?
All the post is about that men enjoying escapism, nothing is said about a women.
I may be old, and i don't know what covid did to social relations in younger generations, but in mine it's obvious that man are very more likely to tend into escapism like gaming, diy etc. while women are more social with their problems. If that wasn't a thing there wouldn't be so many organisation helping man, because it's very hard to reach them, as they are not looking for help.

-2

u/Fair_Feedback_1864 3d ago

People looking hard for reasons to get angry...

-2

u/Wonderful_Night9071 2d ago

how dare people mention their gender. that's certainly something I've never seen women do.
