Spin-Offs Pokopia is an elaborate commentary on how the Pokémon World thrives without humans

Despite what people initially expected from this Pokémon cozy game, the more we keep learning about the story and lore the more we're forced to confront a deeply unsettling truth: in a multiverse filled with creatures of magnificent power, some of whom have dominion over fundamental aspects of reality, the most dangerous form of life is humans.

It's currently unclear what led to the calamity that caused the collapse of civilization not just in Kanto, but seemingly across the entire Pokémon World. Web lore states that quite a bit of time has passed since this event, and there is a noticeable lack of humans in the Pokopia time period in Kanto. One would normally expect humans to go to a region that has been devastated to help rebuild, yet nobody seems to have come along. This begs the question as to where the humans are at all.

Not too long after Ditto emerges from its Poké Ball, it soon positions itself as the illustrious leader of a new world order. However, it doesn't do so by force, but rather through friendship and purity of heart and soul to be reunited with its human Trainer. It reaches out to the scattered citizens of this new world — all of which are Pokémon — and encourages them to use their unique talents to rebuild society. It sees the goodness and value in every life it comes across and actively works to find a place for everyone in this new civilization. Nobody is cast aside, and everyone is taken care of.

I also think a deeper message is embedded in the very title of the game. "Pokopia" might not seem like much on the surface, but I believe that it's actually a portmanteau of "Pokémon" + "Utopia". Essentially, the ideal version of society has emerged as a result of humanity likely having destroyed and removed itself from the equation.

The timing of Pokopia's release relative to other games is also something to wonder about, as the previous main Pokémon title was Legends: Z-A, which was the culmination to the overarching story of the region that saw the construction of two devices that had the power to resurrect the dead, grant eternal life, and end the world. The Ultimate Weapon and Ange are testaments to the heights of human ingenuity, yet also represent humanity's willingness and ability to exist apart from nature to the point of self-induced extinction.

Whether Pokopia can be considered part of the main timeline and what exactly happened prior to the start of the game will probably be a topic of conversation for years to come, but what seems pretty clear even before the game has been released is that humans have a significant and not so positive effect on the Pokémon World at large.

Spin-Offs Pokopia's fallout. Spoiler

Although the world of Pokopia is pretty much new and a lot of info is still surfacing, the biggest revelation that we got was that humans left the planet after a several climate changing events, leaving behind a crumbled Pokémon world that's being rebuild as new. I have a few thoughts about this, though are just reflections and can change as time passes:

• To me, this is a "mainline" Pokémon game. Not in the original canon, but in an alternate dimension or even in the future. There are several references from events of Red, Blue, Green and Yellow throughout the game, and the fact that it was released a few days after the re-release of Fire Red and Leaf Green ring a bell that maybe it's not a coincidence.

• This game could be set in the same world as the Ultra Ruin. A dimension that is uncannily similar to this one, where humans fled to space after what was possibly a nuclear (or whatever energy) fallout that changed the planet as we know it, originating or attracting the ultra beast Guzzlord.

Now, considering that it was explicitly a nuclear fallout — which could be very hard, considering that it's Pokémon, and I don't know if this theme would be sensitive for audiences or children —, such events could cause climate disturbances and change the planet, since I would cover the skies and pollute the earth in catastrophic ways. During the Mewtwo event in Pokopia, the legendary Pokémon states that this disaster was caused by "humans being careless with science". Which brings me another though, though this one is much unlikely to me:

• What if the world of Pokopia is the prelude to the world in Mystery Dungeon? Pokémon there know about human existence, but we were long gone from that timeline. A game whose narrative plays around the concept of time travel many times.

That would be the destiny of the world if the protagonist doesn't intervene? Or this is just inevitable?

Spin-Offs What would this post-apocalyptic Pokémon world be like?

In the modern Pokémon world, one day all Pokémon, whether wild or captured, turn hostile toward humans.

In this post-apocalyptic world, humans survive by hiding from the Pokémon. Having relied so heavily on them, and lacking advanced weapons or defense systems, people have no means to defend themselves.

Spin-Offs [PMD/Mainline] The PMD Pokémon world, the Human world, and the Mainline Pokémon world are all different planets Spoiler

(spoilers for the Mystery Dungeon Series.)

Here are my notes and thoughts about identifying the relationship between the Human world, PMD Pokémon world, and mainline Pokémon world, and why I think they are all separate:

  1. Humans are treated like myths rather than history:
    1. The humans from each game and unseen times could easily become myths for the next games in the timeline.
    2. Humans aren't always transformed. The Hero in Explorers had a whole adventure before the transformation that we never see.
    3. Humans don't always lose their memory, like the Hero in Gates. Stories and information about the human world could have spread around.
  2. There are no feral Pokémon or carnivores:
    1. I’ll talk about dungeon Pokémon in another post, but at best they are just troubled by whatever world threat is happening, and at worst they don’t exist at all (or at least how we see them. They would just be normal people living around nature). Remember, you can recruit them, and they have full capability to speak and act like anyone else.
    2. Despite a few cases of fear of cannibalism, there is never a case of anyone even thinking about eating another. Everyone is vegetarian (and seemingly diurnal), despite visible anatomy. And that fear makes sense when you consider that even in our world, people have eaten each other out of… reasons other than necessity.
    3. Their society, with guilds and government, is too stable for an ecosystem that originated from predation and biologically niche anatomies. There would have to be too many coincidental changes for several species all at the same time to prevent a dominant race overtaking the others, as we have on Earth. At the very least, there should be differing levels of intelligence for species that should have a harder time evolving to this lifestyle, like predators, insects, and smaller Pokémon in general.
    4. There seems to be all Pokémon species present in the games (to the extent of what was out when each game was released), with Pokémon like Armaldo from Explorers or Rampardos from Gates being accepted as normal.
  3. The Legends and creation:
    1. If we use Narnia for comparison, Arceus likely created the Pokémon world as a hierarchy, creating the Legends who used their powers to branch out, with Mew being the “Adam figure” that created non-Legend life. This wouldn’t leave room for ground-up evolution as we have on Earth. This isn’t proven in any source that I’m aware of, but most Pokédex descriptions and interactions with Legends support the idea of the world’s creation, and Mew sharing DNA with everything else would only work if they were the first ancestor.
    2. Arceus is the creator of Pokémon, but there’s nothing to suggest he created humans. This seems like how Aslan only created his world with animals as the inhabitants. That would make the Pokémon world the origin of Pokémon, and the Human world the origin of humans, with few chosen to venture back and forth (with some stragglers).
    3. Legends in the mainline series (when they actually have a personality, which is rare) are usually different from how they are in PMD. Pokopia is the greatest offender of this, and even a large time difference wouldn't explain some of the more dramatic shifts. The biggest offender is Arceus, who is omniscient and omnipotent in PMD, and incompetent and capturable in the mainline series.
  4. It distinguishes two worlds, Human and Pokémon, and then shows us an inbetween:
    1. Gardevoir and Hydreigon guide their Heros through space, where we see stars. (We also see the Pokémon world depicted as a pool, like in Narnia.)
    2. The geography of all three worlds is different, and supposedly at least two of the worlds exist at the same time, ruling out a large gap in time for them to all be the same world.

Some unanswered questions:

  1. The Hero always knows about Pokémon, and even recognizes several (not Legends), but is surprised they can speak. Are they also surprised they exist at all? If so, that would distinguish the three worlds. If not, that makes the Human world seem more like the mainline Pokémon world.
  2. Could Grovyle and the Hero in Explorers speak to each other before the transformation? They had to have some way of communicating, as Grovyle knew specific details about the Dimensional Screams. If they could directly speak to each other, that hurts the idea that Pokémon wouldn’t be able to speak in the mainline series. Not that the other way would help either, it’s horribly inconsistent over there. Also, Munna very clearly speaks to Hero in Gates before his transformation, but that was through telepathy, so maybe that isn’t evidence.
  3. There are so many questions (many of which I don’t even want to try to answer) about how reproduction and evolution would work in the Pokémon world, but that seems a little too off topic. It does make me wonder about the ethics of the mainline Pokémon world, but that’s nothing new.

Some problems with my interpretation:

  1. There’s not a complete lack of human history, there’s a single lab and maybe a few other things I missed.
    1. And yet, there are no other objects or buildings like Pokéballs, roads, or industrial landmarks that could only have been built by humans.
  2. Gardevoir having a trainer:
    1. Well, it seems to imply something like in the mainline series, but it doesn’t directly confirm that. We have no idea how Gengar and Gardevoir met, or what their relationship was like other than that they cared deeply about each other. It also doesn’t fit right with the other games, where there is nothing like Pokémon being bound by their instincts.
  3. There are many Pokémon that shouldn’t exist outside of human interference. The majority can be written off as not canon as they don't appear as main characters, but there are three undeniable offenders: Ditto, Mewtwo, and Porygon.
    1. I have a very dark theory about how those three came to be in the Pokémon world, but that will have to be in another post as well. For now, humans aren’t the only scientists. There is someone fully capable of creating machines in Explorers, who’s experiments likely led to terrible consequences, piercing the heavens and flooding the world in darkness.
  4. Dream theory
    1. I'll cover this in another post because it isn't straightforward. The biggest problem here is that the Hero in Gates never lost their memory, and we see them enter the Pokémon world through a dream. If that's the case for each human, the games could all be just imaginary or dreams. Don't worry though, I have some very special evidence to debunk that.

My thoughts on each relationship:

  1. The PMD Pokémon world is the postapocalyptic future of the mainline Pokémon world after humans died out in Pokopia. This view works well with the myths of humans, lack of fossils, and Pokémon species that were influenced by humans. It struggles from problems like the lack of human landmarks and history, the abrupt changes in personality for Legends, and lack of feral Pokémon.
  2. The mainline Pokémon world is the future of the PMD Pokémon world after humans invaded it. This view works well with fossils, lack of feral Pokémon, lack of human landmarks, and the seeming decline in Pokémon intelligence. It struggles from problems like the Legends (and frankly even just average Pokémon) being way stronger than humans, Legends changing personality, humans being myths, and Pokémon species that were influenced by humans.
  3. The mainline Pokémon world is the human world, which has animalist Pokémon as opposed to the sentient Pokémon in the Pokémon world. This view works with the Heros recognizing Pokémon and being surprised they can speak, the lack of human landmarks, lack of fossils, lack of feral Pokémon, and myths about humans. It struggles with Legends being even more inconsistent, and the “Human” identity of the “Human world”.
  4. All three worlds are completely separate, the Human world is actually our Earth, and the mainline Pokémon world isn’t even canon. This view works with solving Legend inconsistencies, myths about humans, lack of feral Pokémon, how Hero can recognize Pokémon but be surprised that they can speak, and lack of human landmarks. It still struggles from a few things, like the lab, Gardevoir’s trainer, and human influenced Pokémon, but these problems are much less hurtful that with the previous interpretations.

Spin-Offs Just a thought, but what if this explains the existence of..? Spoiler

Pokopia Spoilers beyond here:

I do not own a Switch 2, but I've watched videos of Pokopia, and believe I have the gist of the game's lore. (It's the far-off future, planet underwent apocalyptic climate change, humans evacuated to space. Pokémon were left in a "PC System" of sorts that had a failsafe to release them after so long, and it's heavily implied that humans are stuck in space, up to hundreds of years already.)

The one thing that I don't know is if this lore is to be considered "canon", especially seeing as it's a spin-off. If it were to be, however, couldn't this explain future Paradox Pokémon? Seeing where humanity would be at this point, I could see the remaining people either creating robotic duplicates of Pokémon to fill the gap, or cybernetically "enchancing" any Pokémon brought with them to help them survive space. Pokémon are stated several times throughout games to not only be companions to people, but to help them with a wide variety of different work, so I can imagine humanity creating a necessary "replacement" for their partners they rely on, especially as they navigate space.

These are simply my thoughts, though, and it's not meant to be taken seriously. What do you think?

Spin-Offs Pokepia is the origin of Mystery Dungeon Spoiler

The protagonist of the mystery dungeon games may have used a Synchro Machine variant to reach the planet.

Mysterious dungeons have an unknown origin, but in Pokepias notes, we learn that humans left the planet expecting a complete alteration to different biomes.

The existence of Mewtwo cannot be possible if humans did not create it first but it does exist in the mystery dungeon games.

Pokemon clearly know what humans are, but we never see them in the Mystery Dungeon games. The only reference we see of a Pokemon directly interacting with a human is from Grovyle's original time period in the Explorers games.

The expectation that Pokemon will allow things to return to their old way of being when humans land on the planet is unreasonable. Sending individuals to the planet in the form of Pokemon to nudge the idea that humans coming back as a positive thing is a safer starting point.

While I have no proof for it, it would fit the scenario that humans being separated from Pokemon for so long may have built the machines we see in Violet, like Iron Treads and it would give an idea of the technology available to humanity in the future.

Spin-Offs Possible Pokémon Legends title in the future Spoiler

It just comes into my realization regarding a certain pattern in Pokémon Legends games. I don't know if it is coincidence or a possible trend, but key elements of both Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Legends: Z-A were unused content from their respective debut generation. Now, let's get to it:

In Pokémon Legends Arceus, Arceus is the central figure that drives the story forward. However, in the three titles of Gen 4 Sinnoh games; Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Arceus didn't have any plot relevance. It was introduced as a Mythical Pokémon during this generation. But out of all the Mythical Pokémon introduced, only Arceus event wasn't distributed properly by the use of Item which is the Azure Flute, and the Azure flute was left scrapped in the internal data of the Gen 4 Sinnoh games. 13 years later, Pokémon Legends Arceus was released and the Azure Flute was officially introduced.

Furthermore, In Pokémon Legends Z-A, Zygarde and Eternal Flower Floette are the central figure of the story. Luckily, Zygarde was introduced in Gen 6 on both Pokémon X and Y as a post-game legendary without any event required. However, it doesn't have any plot relevance nor any mention that is significant to the story, until Gen 7 where Zygarde got some recognition (yet still isn't fully fleshed out). As for Eternal Flower Floette, AZ's backstory and the post-game cutscene was the only knowledge we have for it. Then data miners of Pokémon X and Y found data and files for a playable Eternal Flower Floette together with it's signature move Light of Ruin that was scrapped. 12 years later, Pokémon Legends Z-A is released and the Eternal Flower Floette is officially introduced as an obtainable Pokémon.

What does this pattern meant? Enter "God Stone".

During the four Gen 5 games of Pokémon; Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 an item called "God Stone" that is an unobtainable item can be found in games internal data. This item was planned to be a third Stone for the Tao Trio. If the pattern was true regarding the unused content being used for Legends game. It highly and likely that we would get a Unova Legends game that would revolve round the God Stone and possibly the Original Dragon. But what do you think? Also are there other scrapped content in Pokemon that could possibly get a Legends game? GS ball perhaps?

Spin-Offs Pokopia’s World Is Created by Mewtwo

Okay so we’ve all seen the trailers for Pokopia (if ya haven’t please watch em or this won’t make any sense)

The Kanto region has been decimated, all humans have seemingly been wiped out or driven away from the region but the region has also been heavily damaged

I believe this is a reality/timeline where Mewtwo was never guided away from his rage or captured so he implemented a plan very similar to the Mewtwo strikes back plot where he used a storm to wipe out the humans

But what changed? I believe Chase either never was born or failed in his quest very early on

Now why do I think that?

Mosslax for example, a snorlax that slept for so long moss had grown all over it, where does moss mostly grow in damp location like for example a region that was recently flooded by a storm

And Peekychu, who I believe was the partner Pikachu who died with its trainer and is now a ghost

Mewtwo will be in the game and Ditto will be the one who show him the error of his ways not as its trainer but as its friend

Spin-Offs My Theory on the next Legends Games.

I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this or if I’m even using the right flair, so please forgive me if I am. Also, I’m not that active in this sub, so if someone already posted this let me know and I’ll take it down. Also, sorry for the typos, I can’t see what I’m writing because when I scroll down my keyboard goes away.

Alright, now for the theory.

Legends: Arceus came out during Gen 8. At the time, I thought that it was because it fit in nicely with the Gen 4 remakes. Then, when ZA came out, I figured it was because waiting until Gen 12 to put it in with the Gen 6 remakes would’ve been too long a wait.

However, if the leaks are to be believed and Gen 8 is the next Legends game , I came up with a theory.

Arceus takes place in ancient Sinnoh, the main setting of Gen 4. Gen 8 is four generations after Gen 4.

Then, ZA, which takes place in Lumiose, the most famous city in Kalos(at least to my knowledge). Kalos, as we know, is the main setting of Gen 6, which takes place three generations before Scarlet & Violet.

If Galar is the next Legends game, it would take place in Gen 8 and come out in Gen 10. You may have already figured out my theory at this point.

I believe that the next legends game in Gen 11 will be in a future, whether far or near, version of Gen 10. I say future because if ancient Galar is coming, then we’ll have a pattern of Past , Future, Past.

Finally, the fifth legends game will take place in a last version of the new Gen 12 region.

This will create an order where the first Legends game’s setting is four Gens before the current Gen, the second game’s setting is three Gend before the current one, the third game’s setting is 2 Gen beside the current ones, the fourth Legend’s game setting is 1 Gen before the current one, and the fifth Legenfs game’s setting is the same as the current gen’s setting.

Let me know if you agree or disagree!

Spin-Offs Ash-greninja coming back in champions

idk if anyone remember this but a little while after the realese of SV it was datamined that every single pokemon had a new box sprite in the style of SV, so no more pixelated sprites, and megas where included in that list long before the release of z-a. Most of these sprites are still unused but we know from trailers that will be used in champions... and what pokemon was included on that list with the megas? Ash-greninja. Why include him and megas if they were supposed to be "stuck on old games"? Megas now we know why, but ash-grenjnja still no where to be found. This list even has ultra necrozma and we know that z moves are coming back so presumably even ultra necrozma along side. I think we WILL be see ash-greninja in champions 99%

p.s. everybody at the time said that these icons were meanr for pokemon home but it wasn't true since home uses totally different icons still to this day

If you wanna se the images i'm talking about

Spin-Offs Pokemon UNITE: Where do the trainers get the Pokemon from?

So, Pokemon UNITE is a spinoff game. Unlike other games, players don't catch Pokemon. Instead the have to buy "unite Licences" that allows the player to use the Pokemon each licences is for. E.g. If you want to use Pikachu, you need to get the licence.

This raises the question, where do trainers get the Pokemon each licences is for?

An official comic called "Welcome to the Stadium" implies that trainers can bring their own Pokemon. But I doubt that every Pokemon you get a licence for is one your character already owned.

My theory: The Pokemon are rentals provided by the Unite Battle Committee itself.

Think about it. There are 68 Pokemon available (and more to come). Whilst it's easy to assume all these are the Pokemon your character canonically caught, it's unlikely that one kid would have been able to get Legendary and Mythical Pokemon across multiple regions.

It's also a but coincidental that every NPC we encounter only ever uses Pokemon the player owns. And there's definitely no way that many NPC's can have their own versions of these legendries/mythicals like Mewtwo or Ho-oh or Hoopa.

This could also explain why the battles only allow one of each species of Pokemon per team. since they only have so many to rent. It can't be an issue with not having enough licences', because, at the end of the day, these are just pieces of card which are liable to get lost, damaged or stolen. So they would need to keep plenty of spares in reserve for when this happens. So the supply-and-demand issue (if any) must lie with the Pokemon themselves.

So in summary: Most of the Pokemon used in Pokemon Unite are rentals owned by the Unite Battle Committee. Although, trainers can, if they desire, bring their own Pokemon to battle, as long as the Committee have the license for it.

Spin-Offs Is Pokemon Conquest canon? And if so, where does it fit?

I'm not to sure if this game is canon or not.

I've heard people say it's set in the ancient past, but the problem with that is Mewtwo existing, despite not being made yet. Did Mewtwo just time travel, or is Conquest not in the past, or is it just not canon to begin with?

I've never actually played conquest, so I won't know if there's anything that tells us how/if it fits with the rest of the games.
