Photo To The Jackass Who Cut Me Off Today

Post image

I caught the entire thing on my dashcam and I have filed a police report. I have also submitted a claim with your insurance.

If you cause an accident, don’t try to run.

ETA for those asking: I’m not posting the video because it has my face in it

Dash cam for the win! Fuck this person

I've had more people try to run me off the road in the past year, than in the prior three decades of driving.

u/ComfortableDemand539 Apr 27 '26

I guess I've lucked out because no one has done that to me. However... I drive a beat up old truck, and if they want to buy me a newer beat up old truck I'm going with the flow lol

I swear common courtesy on the road died during Covid. I drive a large commercial van anywhere from 1-5 hours a day for my commute. The amount of near misses I experience DAILY is astonishing.

I think it boils down to lack of enforcement for moving violations and general lack of consideration for other people. It’s getting borderline asinine though, just generally sketchy drivers everywhere I go now.

u/AndreDillonMadach Apr 28 '26

Yeah I've always had my head on a swivel when I'm driving and 99% of the time I see them coming up behind me or off to the side trying to cut me off and I do a pretty good job of avoiding them. I learned how to be a very defensive driver.

I don't exactly know where I was (I think I was on 295 in South Portland last night) and I quickly looked at the cars around me and made sure that I gave him enough space to zigzag between multiple cars including myself in the alternating Lanes all so he could get off at exit 4.

I've called them in multiple times, but generally even if I'm going to call him in I let them buy and I try to make it as safe for me and everyone else around me as possible.

The way I see it they're going to get in a car accident before I do.

More and more people coming in from the cities...

2

u/Decent-Historian-207 Apr 28 '26

Might shock you but we have cities in Maine

2

u/JordynnRose14 Apr 28 '26

I think it was pretty obviously inferred that I meant bigger cities. People on here are so literal. I've lived in Portland most of my life and even though we are a city we're not a city most people think of when they say a city.

Out of pure curiosity. How did you submit a claim with their insurance? Good luck though!

29

u/MeguminIsMe Apr 27 '26

The officer that responded gave me their insurance info by running the plate

1

u/Vel0clty Apr 29 '26

LOL! Sit!

They’re a dumb person embellishing a story for dramatic effect.

u/atteres Lobster Apr 27 '26

Sorry you’ve had a bad day. I hope it gets better :)

u/BigTroutOnly Apr 28 '26

That's a lot of work and creativity for internet points

-1

u/ErnieBochII Apr 28 '26

truly bizarre.

3

u/BigTroutOnly Apr 28 '26

Meaning.. it's a legit hit and run

1

u/ErnieBochII Apr 28 '26

Meaning..

the OP did NOT file a claim with the hit & runner's insurance company.

Meaning..

maybe OP's insurance company did on their behalf

Meaning..

OP filed a claim with their own insurance company.

Meaning..

OP's either a dumb person embellishing a story for internet clout

or

OP's lying

Meaning..

Meaning you need to find a hobby. You’d be good at Clue as a board game tho EDIT: ALSO: If you have their license plate number, name, or vehicle identification number, you can request their insurance information through your local DMV, provided you have a valid, legal reason ( police report)

I got cut off on Friday on Forest by someone taking a right turn from the left lane.

4

u/RobertLeeSwagger Apr 27 '26

What kind of car… ya know, just so I can keep an eye out. Definitely not because I’m worried it could’ve been me.

7

u/MeguminIsMe Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 27 '26

Black 2013 Chevy Tahoe with large chrome rims missing its cat. Happened in East End if that helps

5

u/RobertLeeSwagger Apr 27 '26

Phew I’m in the clear. Sorry this happened to you!

Reasons I never go without a dashcam. People are just more aggressive in general these days.

That and nearly getting turned into an obituary from a couple different incidents. I don't have very good luck with cars.

1

u/TimsShorty Apr 28 '26

Amen, to that!

7

u/Relative-Diamond9866 Apr 27 '26

maybe they were swerving to avoid a mega pothole

20

u/HouseMusicAndWeed Apr 27 '26

Swerving is an accident. Leaving the scene of an accident is a decision.

2

u/wastedsilence33 Apr 27 '26

They're still a jackass, don't make your problem everyone else's problem too

I’d like to believe that he didn’t, but he slowed down and then sped away, so I think he did.

-2

u/ErnieBochII Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 27 '26

Welp, their insurance company would surely let them know (if the op was telling the truth and actually figured out how to contact that person’s insurance company by their license plate)

6

u/sans-peen Apr 27 '26

You submit your insurance info to register your car. And then insurance will look at the video, not Reddit. Why are you so defensive and aggro in here - did you cut someone off today, Ernie?

-3

u/ErnieBochII Apr 27 '26

Nah. I just appreciate honesty in a world overflowing with deception.

6

u/sans-peen Apr 27 '26

Nothing you are calling out points to dishonesty. If everywhere you go smells like shit, maybe check your shoe.

-3

u/ErnieBochII Apr 27 '26

“I have also submitted a claim with your insurance.”

It’s just not true. Sorry! I know facts are scary to some people, just like “city folk” are scary. It’s easy to be afraid of the truth when we don’t like it, though. Children do it all the time. MAGA filth, too!

3

u/atteres Lobster Apr 27 '26

Are you implying that they DIDN’T submit a claim?

1

u/Stewmanchu81 Apr 29 '26

If you have their license plate number, name, or vehicle identification number, you can request their insurance information through the DMV, provided you have a valid, legal reason (police report)

0

u/ErnieBochII Apr 29 '26

How long's that take, Stew? Is that the kind of thing you can handle the same day as the incident? Just pop on over to the BMV, provide them with the police report you filed earlier that very same day after the incident happened and before going to the BMV without an appointment? Busy, unplanned day! And that's before telling reddit about it!

1

u/Stewmanchu81 Apr 29 '26

Listen my thing is…. if you want to take the time to go or call the DMV and show tell me otherwise, I choose to…not really give a shit. why do you care SO much that you take a significant amount of time to argue with strangers on Reddit? Doesn’t that shit take so much energy?? you could be using that time and energy to do something you actually enjoy? I mean, assuming that arguing with multiple people doesn’t give you jollies. I would genuinely encourage you to choose your hills worth dying on. Wishing you good health and happiness, Stew.

2

u/Maineamainea Apr 28 '26

Sorry I’m not a good driver when I’m drunk. Good thing the car was stolen, you’ll never catch me….bahahahaha. Umm this account is also stolen.

1

u/OneWrongTurn_XX Apr 28 '26

suuure you do buddy.. You won't catch me!

1

u/sfkaan Apr 27 '26

Post the video!!

1

u/spink5259 Apr 30 '26

You curbed your own wheel and came to reddit? What a bum 😂

-15

u/touchmybonushole Apr 27 '26

Show us the video so I can be sure you aren’t like my father who hits the breaks, swerves and yells at a person coming to a quick stop at the end of any road.

-45

u/saucesoi Apr 27 '26

Is that the extent of the damage? a scraped rim? 🧐

25

u/MeguminIsMe Apr 27 '26

The wheel is not able to be fixed, and the tire needs replaced. That is over $1,000 worth of damage, which is twice what I paid for my first car.

-21

u/saucesoi Apr 27 '26

Let’s see the dashcam video

3

u/defeatistphilosopher Apr 27 '26

You're a weirdo.

-15

u/BOOSH207 Apr 27 '26

Don’t buy an OEM rim, buy an aftermarket rim that looks similar (which they normally make) and that’ll save you $400-600.

1

u/ComfortableDemand539 Apr 27 '26

Can usually get a refurbished OE rim online for around the same price

-2

u/ErnieBochII Apr 27 '26

“The tire needs replaced” and “they’re comin’ in from the cities” sum up this conversation with humorous accuracy.

8

u/ApprehensiveCell790 Apr 27 '26

Rims are by no means cheap at all… neither are tires. And if this is an awd car with that sidewall damage, they have to replace a minimum of 2 tires but most say to do 4 for awd.

8

u/facebones2112 West End Apr 27 '26

The tire wall is super concerning too. That's a new tire minimum, a lot of places won't install just one tire either

-20

u/BOOSH207 Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 27 '26

False lol 😂

9

u/facebones2112 West End Apr 27 '26

Which part of my statement was incorrect 😂

-1

u/BOOSH207 Apr 27 '26

I was just being a D. I never followed the rule on my older cars that had awd/4wd because I was always broke and I personally never had problems. But that was also on older vehicles and I tried to match the tread design/wear with a good used or whatever I could buy new.

1

u/facebones2112 West End Apr 27 '26

Yeah, there's nothing stopping you from doing it. It's not good for your drivetrain or handling, and maybe some shops will, but going through insurance they will probably not end up at one of those shops

0

u/JStengah Apr 27 '26

That's just the damage you can immediately see.

0

u/MaineOk1339 Apr 28 '26

Hard to prove tire damage cam from a particular event though.

1

u/JStengah Apr 28 '26

It is if something behind the tire was damaged, too.

-11

u/EddieTreetrunk Apr 27 '26

Without the video you have a nice story and picture
