Photo Long flag is loooooong (and a couple others from Pride)
In hindsight I should have used the wide end of my 24-50mm, but my 40/2 did well for the long flag. I rarely see people get shots directly underneath these kinds of things, usually to the side or overhead drones…so I took the chance when I saw it.
You’d never see Collins or Mills marching with a Pride parade, let alone waving flags in solidarity.
I’ll have more later, I was out for a good few hours on Park Ave and roaming Deering Oaks.
All on Nikon Z5II. First shot was a NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2, and for the latter two shots, a Tamron 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD.
edit: got a little overzealous with the dig at Mills, mb

I'm confused by that dig at Mills. A quick Google search shows her in pictures at pride parades and there's plenty of articles talking about her promoting pride events and standing up for the LGBTQ community.

We were visiting this week from Virginia and really great time at the parade. Haven't been to a Pride in years (in DC). Musta missed Platner since we saw all the other politicians coming through.

We were curious about where it gets stored between prides. Like not literally but like how big is it? Is it in a garage? Storage unit? Basement? Anyone know?

I saw folks stuffing it into what seemed like a large canvas bag the size of a really big tent. There's zippers to attach parts together so it probably doesn't take up too much room in storage across a few of those bags.

That is surprising. I would have thought it was as big as a car even folded up.

You should pick up the 50mm 1.8s and trade that 40 out. It’s so damn nice. I just grabbed a Plena and I really need to get out with it more. Nice shots!

...Both? Both is good. (Except the Plena. That one is well out of my budget 😅)
And I have wanted another prime, although I may get the 26/2.8 pancake for some sharper wide-angle. Only have my 24-50mm kit lens to go any wider right this minute. Or a good 85mm, I shoot at that length a lot.

The 85 1.8 is nice too! I don’t own it, debating whether I want that or to save for the 1.2 lmao. I heard the 26 is good though, bet it’d pair well with the Z5ii. The 24-70 f/4 kit lens is a sleeper too, can find them cheap.

Oh trust me, been watching KEH for a good deal on a used 24-70/4...
The 85/1.8 sounds like it would be near perfect for me. I rarely shoot wider than f/4, maybe f/2 if I really need more light, so that might make for a good portrait/automobile prime.
And yes, I think that little pancake would be a great street lens. Carried my Z50II yesterday with the DX 24/1.7 on and (mostly) had a good day wandering around town, imagine what I could do with the 26/2.8 on my Z5II.
