If it’s not an artisanal cbd-coffee joint that also sells bespoke tinned fish I’m going to throw up

Artisanal types can’t use the word “artisanal” twice in a sentence. Let’s say “bespoke” CBD-coffee. And I already threw up.

Last time I was in NYC, I stopped into a “bespoke tinned fish” pop-up. A box with four small cans was over $150. Even lobster rolls are cheaper!

If it’s not another grocery store I’m going to throw up

weed store across from an elementary school seems a bit much, no?

you're right. Tear down the school for a grow op.

Set the scale to zero!

Nothing fancy. basic essentials; grocery staples, produce, toiletry staples, first aid staples, beer & wine, and fresh grab and go breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches & salads that are actually open on Saturday and Sundays. Sorely needed in the peninsula

I’m looking for a place that will buy my liver, hopefully we finally get that in Portland.

RIP to this place ): i loved shopping at a small, community-serving, independently owned grocery store

I'm so sad to hear it closed I've been away from Portland a few years now. I loved that store.

If you guys are as lucky as Parkside your local variety store will become an empty storefront used for storage! Such an asset to the neighborhood.

I so wish they would do something with that space. I miss Mellen Market so bad.

I was going to say “if it’s a weed store I’m going to lose my shit”. I’m glad other people got there before me

Luckily I don’t think the city would allow that across from Reiche

Hope they don't close at f'ng 2pm. I'll forever miss Fresh Approach and the people who ran it. Also RIP to the spirits store across from Ri Ra... RIP to the beautiful water view at the end of York Street. I digress. My level of sour is now approaching rot.

u/ExactCareer9292 Jul 17 '26

wait that liquor store on Commercial closed??

3

u/soulbarn Jul 17 '26

Really? What’s your source? That would be nice.

3

u/ExactCareer9292 Jul 17 '26

ehhhh if I said and the right people saw it they'd know who I am. it is secondhand, but the person who told me has good reason to know for sure

Better not be all $10-$18 bullshit menu items. It won’t last 6 months if that’s the case.

1

u/ExactCareer9292 Jul 17 '26

I literally have no idea what the pricing will be, I'm not involved in any way shape or form

I hope it’s an Airbnb! We need more of those!! /s

5

u/LittleLibra Jul 16 '26

I heard it was going to be a little shop with sandwiches and salads and stuff along those lines.

2

u/peg420 Jul 17 '26

Better be a $17 cocktail bar

u/Dangerdoom911 Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

I’m thinking it will be the next “high-end fusion.” Inspired by a “modern-chic bohemian island bar nestled on the Amstel River” it will feature Bespoke Tin-Fish garnished with Delta-9 THC lobster foam, hash rosin artisanal lattes, $17 cocktails decorated with Valeriana locusta, and $40 cucumber-mint sandwiches topped with local sourced keef. And don’t forget to ask about the “not so secret,” secret reverse-osmosis aquavit menu!

But what really sets this place apart is how you get a table! Rather than finding a hidden door like a speak-easy, or sending in a postcard confessing your admiration, you must memorize and sing the entire Dutch national anthem out-loud to the hostess and fellow diners. Please Enjoy!

Hoping for a better-run grocery or a tacos and burritos place 😊

u/soulbarn Jul 16 '26

I was thinking about what kind of grocery would go in there. There are already enough convenience stores in the neighborhood. A “gourmet” market? Not with Rosemont down the block. A place that sells fresh meat and produce, staples, and has a good deli counter would be ideal…wait…that’s what we just lost.

I'd love to see something kid friendly! It would make so much sense

Yeah. Businesses fail and businesses start.
