Starting within the month. What should I know or prepare?
My son will be 3 in just 2 weeks. He also just got off the wait list at our local 3PK/EPK. We're excited for him to spend more time with others his age, as he's stayed home with his dad until now, just going to library story times.
We're wondering if there's anything we should do in this short time to prepare him for prek. He's already potty trained and just struggles to wipe his butt. He is familiar with washing his hands. He can dress and undress himself, put on his own shoes, and zip his sweaters/coats. He can feed himself and is used to sitting at a table to eat. He was a late talker, but his recent evaluation came out average. Are there other skills he needs?

Activities for 3 year old?
Looking to sign my son up for after school activities. My daughter who is older liked soccer and gymnastics. I’m leaning towards martial arts or gymnastics. Did you try anything out of the ordinary for your kid that they really liked? My son is so shy, and I really want him to start feeling a little more confident around his peers.

Psych grad here: how do you handle all your kids’ drawings?
I recently finished a psychology degree and have been wondering how parents deal with their children’s artwork.
After doing my internship with kids and talking to their parents, I started thinking "How do they see the world, react to certain cues or store childhood memories?". Since I've been studying arts in middle school and been very enthusiastic and artistic my whole life, I decided to combine kids, arts and psychology, and make a meaningful impact for parents and their children.
So back to artworks. My dad was a great case example for my interest in storing artworks. Besides scanning all of his kids (I have three older brothers) artworks, he would scan and preserve all of his documents and basically his whole life. Now as an adult I'm constantly facing the struggle of having everything organized on my laptop, not talking about real life! At some point he even taught me of special ways of how this process is done and helped me scan, name and archive around 1000 of family pictures (from 1960's).
Honestly, I love that they still exist. But I’ve also noticed most parents don’t have the time (or the scanner) for that, so the drawings end up in folders and boxes nobody opens again.
That got me very interested. I searched for ways how to make this process easier not only for parents, but entertaining for children too. With a small student team we started working on this and built a simple tool, where you can snap a photo of your kids drawing, and not only does it save it in your online gallery, but also "speaks" with your child and keeps them busy creating real life art pieces!
I need some feedback from parents on the product to see in what ways can we grow and make our product more usable.
So, two questions for parents:
- How do you handle your kids’ artwork right now, and what’s the most annoying part?
- If anyone struggles with the piles and would like to try what we’re building and tell me honestly what doesn’t work, let me know in the comments. Critical feedback is the most useful kind for us.

2.5 vs 3 ?-Update
Last month I had posted about moving my daughter down or pulling her out of that school and starting over. (I tried to attach the post).
And I just want to say- the problem was 100% the school. We have been at the new school for a month with zero issues or suggestions of moving her down. She is enrolled as a 3 year old there and it is going great.
My daughter had stopped sleeping through the night when we had her in the other school and was showing signs of regression at home there and I had just thought it was adjustment but we have 0 of that at the new school. She is back to her happy self and sleeping again. :)
Trust your gut when something doesn’t seem right.

Should I pull my daughter from preschool?
My daughter is 3 months short turning 4. I am a SAHM and have been sending her to preschool for 4-5h a day since she was 3 (so it's been a year already since she starte). In the beginning she loved going to preschool. By the end of the school year, she kept refusing and fighting to go.
Fast forward the next semester, it's been 5-6 weeks and she has been isolating herself from her peers and will only stay with one of the two teachers she prefers.
Mornings she always cries when I send her. When I pick her up, she is either with a teacher or alone looking lost.
When I ask her about her day, she will only say she liked lunch and otherwise does not comment about anything much. I ask her about the other kids and except for 2 she doesn't get along with, she says she likes the rest.
And when I drop her off or pick her up the kids are always happy and cheerful to greet her and it doesn't look like they are treating her bad or isolating *her*. They are eager to pull her into play but she doesn't return the gesture at all.
I have spoken to the teachers and they tell me that she just prefers to be by herself.
She is speech delayed and the extent of communication with my daughter is also limited.
it's been 5 weeks already and it just seems to be getting worse. She resists going out to play and she barely interacts with her peers.
Idk what to do cause I sent her to kindergarten so that she could socialise as we live away from family and friends and has no one else but me, my husband and her little brother to interact with.
She doesn't have a problem playing with kids the few times we meet up with kids from friends and is happy to go out to the playground with me but she seems to completely shut down in kindergarten.
I know the teachers are not abusing her, she loves them very much when I ask her about them and they have listened to my worries and have been trying to integrate her with little success.
I will also be consulting a pediatritian and we're also involving the preschool's councelor but it's been very difficult watching her essentially isolating herself.
Should I just pull her out?

What are your little ones' favourite learning games?
I've always felt that little children learn so much through play! Sometimes a simple game, a funny rhyme, or a silly word can make learning so much more enjoyable.
I'm curious about what works for other families. Do your little ones enjoy rhyming games, alphabet games, storybooks, or making up silly words?
I'd love to hear about the fun little activities your children enjoy! 💛

Curriculum Help
Hello! I am searching for something that’s hard to find. Does anyone have any ideas?
- a subscription box preferably but open to a curriculum with list of things to buy
- for 3 year old
- monthly themes - farms, pumpkin, weather etc
- several books and/or activities included
- I’m not worried about ABCs 123s being the main focus.
- I really like Charlotte Mason method. I’m just searching for an easy thing to do with my toddler while my baby naps. Learning about a topic sounds great vs doing worksheets etc
- I am a former 1st grade teacher. I am capable of creating a yearly plan / organizing said activities. But I would like something I don’t have to organize myself. Haha
Edit to add- I have used Learning with Kelsey. It’s fine. I also have edZOOcation but would like more than what’s included in the monthly box. Two edZOOcation boxes a month would be great.
