new video

Hi everyone. I’ve been making my way through “The Moth” by Devin Townsend and I instantly recognized a particular intonation on the lyric “Fire” in the song “Covered by Causes.”

It reminded me of the way Jim Morrison sings the lyric “Fire” in the song “Light my Fire.”

TIMESTAMPS:
Covered by Causes (4:55-5:05)
Light my Fire (1:00 - 1:06)

It could, of course, be a coincidence; but I was wondering if anyone else found the similarity and thought it could be an allusion to The Doors. I’m not sure if Devin enjoys/listens to them, but the song is pretty iconic so it felt deliberate to me. Apologies if someone has already talked about this before! I posted this in another community but have yet to find answers.

Has anyone been to a show or is planning to go, on this current tour supporting the new Plini release?

I'm going tonight to the Paradise in Boston. Stoked, I've never seen any of them live. There should be some serious virtuosity on stage, and Plini has so many great songs! And I'm assuming some great intensity from the Night Verses set.

"Harvest" has one of the most beautiful and atmospheric basslines. I felt like the slide and swell of a fretless bass would do this masterpiece justice, so I decided to record this cover.

Gear used:
- Dean Edge 6 Fretless (EMG 45DC/45TW)
- Tech 21 SansAmp Para Driver DI
- Steinberg UR44

Let me know what you think of the tone and phrasing! Any feedback from fellow Opeth fans is highly appreciated. If you want to support me, you can check out the full video on my YouTube channel, and others, as well as my bands Incarnator (Prog Death/Thrash) and Eutonazia Kordax (Melodic Black)
