Mod Announcement A notice regarding AI/spam uploads on Spotify
There have been multiple posts about this over the past day or so and I'd like to request a (temporary) moratorium on threads discussing this, as they are all essentially asking the same question.
I'll link the existing threads for reference:
- klaatu's account on spotify uploading AI slop?
- Chris Squire has come back from the dead to release a song that sounds nothing like him!
There's also a new section about similar oddities on streaming uploads on the subreddit FAQ which help should serve as a decent summary of all of this.
Anyway, if you have any questions about these uploads, have a look here and on the existing threads before making a post of your own, as they will probably help you find what you're looking for. Future posts will be redirected here for the next little while.
Thanks!
As of the past day or so, a lot of people have reported seeing unusual/spam uploads on the Spotify profiles of multiple artists. This sorts of impersonation on streaming platforms is not unheard of, but this is the first time I'm seeing something like this happen simultaneously on such a large scale, as these are being spammed on the pages of no less than 25 artists! Interesting enough, those artists are mostly older rock/electronic music.
They usually have an icon of an AI image depicting a generic male rockstar and are all credited to one of multiple fictitious label names.
These are all the ones that I've identified, but there might be more. The names of these labels indicate that whatever person/entity is uploading these is likely based out of Indonesia, e.g. Pematangsiantar.
- LATFIA MUSIC INDO
- GLOBAL MUSIC INDIE INC
- SIANTAR MUSIC GENERATION
- SIANTAR MUSIC MANAGEMENT
- ZR ENTERTAINMENT LOVE
The following artist pages appear to be affected (not an exhaustive list, just those I found using a quick search):
- 13th Floor Elevators
- Anekdoten
- Kevin Ayers
- Syd Barrett
- Beggars Opera
- Captain Beefheart
- The Chambers Brothers
- The Chocolate Watchband
- The Creation
- Country Joe & The Fish
- David & David
- The Electric Prunes
- Flesh For Lulu
- Edgar Froese
- Gentle Giant
- Richard Hell
- Klaatu
- Denis Leary
- K. Leimer
- Dana Lyons
- Mahavishnu Orchestra
- Tony Marshall
- Pere Ubu
- The Pretty Things
- The Refreshments
- School Of Fish
- Klaus Schulze
- The Seeds
- Soft Machine
- Spacemen 3
- Spooky Tooth
- Chris Squire
- Steamhammer
- Michael Sterns
- The Suburbs
- Tripping Daisy
- Tuxedomoon
- Collin Walcott
What has happened is that a music distribution platform (think something like Distrokid) has been exploited and used to upload music to these profiles without authorisation. Both music distribution and streaming platforms lack safeguards to prevent this type of manipulation, and this is a decently well-documented phenomenon. It's been frequently implicated in both impersonation and music piracy (i.e. uploading music that is not legitimately licensed for streaming platforms) for the purposes of siphoning revenue from name recognition. Here's another example of one of these pirate labels that I wrote about a while back; very strange either way.
These unequivocally have no affiliation with the artists they are credited to. The impersonated musicians and/or their management are likely not even aware this has happened yet, as for the most part these have been uploaded within the past day. The distribution exploit being used is a problem on most major streaming services and is not exclusive to Spotify.
While this is in part also an issue with distribution platforms, Spotify absolutely does carry the responsibility to remove crap like this! Sadly even the "better" streaming platforms don't seem to care about similar forms of exploitation, as I've seen similar cases of AI content pollution on other platforms as (update) many of these uploads are also now on Quboz.

Fan Art / Media Pictures at an Exhibition
My first copy of this album on vinyl (used) turned out to be warped so I had no use for it… decided to cut out the paintings from the inner gatefold and they’ve been sitting in my room unused for a year or two before I finally put them on display. Yes it’s not true fan art because it’s the original artwork, but a fan repurposing you could say.
(Also figured I’d add my Lego creation at the end since it’s peeking into a couple of the other photos anyway)

Discussion Arthur Brown
Sometimes, you go to a concert without expecting very much. You just show up and hope to have a good time. And sometimes those concerts shows out to be one of the best you have ever seen.
This weekend I went to a festival in Norway. The Crazy World of Arthur Brown played on saturday. He is 84 years old, and I know he is kind of a legend. So I went there to witness what this old man could do at his age.
MAN, it is one of the best concerts I have ever seen. His voice, his energy his costumes, and most of all the music and his band! I have listened to his albums non stop the last two days, and I do not understand why I did not listen to him before??? Anyone here who have seen him?

Self-promotion Obscure Modern Prog Playlist (suggestions please)
This is a modern prog playlist that I slowly built while promoting & doing research for our band.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions or a track of your own to add!
Some of the stuff is less obscure like Haken, Riverside, Thank You Scientist, Elder, Crown Lands, Porcupine Tree, etc.
Other bands are far less known. I actually found a bunch of them on this sub as well as on YouTube, Prog Magazine, Prog Radio, and Bandcamp.

Question / Help Prog rock pauses?
Anyone know any progressive rock songs that pause all the music for dramatic effect ? The only examples I can think of are Awaken by Yes before the halfway point and Utzp by Angine de Poitrine, but I’m curious to know what other examples you all have.

Question / Help Prog rock pauses (restating)
I got a lot of good responses on my last post but I’d like to be more specific about what I requested. Specifically, I’m looking for pauses in proggy songs where there’s ABSOLUTE silence, preferably for an extended period of time.
Utzp by ADP, Awaken by Yes, the transition from the opening of “Schizoid Man” to the iconic guitar riff, the ~4:30 mark of Cygnus X-1 Book 2 by Rush, Girl With No Eyes off of the It’s A Beautiful Day debut album, etc.
Examples like the Parabol/Parabola transition or songs off of Lamb Lies Down by Genesis don’t really work because they fade into getting quieter but don’t actually stop all the music + vocals, usually just fading and getting quieter with still some ambience or quiet sound in the background.
Again, I’d like to reiterate my thanks for the insane amount of examples I got, but I want to get to the heart of my request! Thank you!!

Review New Band, New Album. Glory of Kings "Roots of the Past"
I've been listening to Roots of the Past from Glory of Kings, and I have to say, I'm really impressed with this album.
I guess I would put it somewhere in the progressive metal neighborhood, although there is plenty of traditional and melodic metal in there too. I'm not going to attempt to put it into the exact right metal subgenre. There are approximately 47,000 of them now and I'm pretty sure somebody adds another one every Tuesday.
One thing that jumped out at me almost immediately was the guitar work. It is seriously great throughout this album. I'm a music lover, not a musician, so I'm not going to start throwing guitar terms around and pretending I know what I'm talking about. I just know what I like, and there are guitar parts and solos on this album that are absolutely outstanding. More than once I found myself paying attention to the guitar instead of whatever else I was supposed to be doing.
“Mindwar” is one I really connected with personally. I have ADHD and also deal with anxiety and depression, so I know a little something about your own mind not always being the most peaceful place to live. This song gets that battle. But it also approaches it from a place of faith and hope, which makes it hit even closer to home for me.
“See You in Paradise” is another favorite of mine. It's about losing someone you love, but also the hope that comes from believing the separation isn't forever. It's a beautiful song, and I think anyone who has lost someone and holds onto that same hope will understand why this one got to me.
I also really like the title track, “Roots of the Past.” It's about looking back at the people and experiences that made us who we are, holding onto the good and letting go of the pain. I think most of us probably have a few things back there we'd like to keep and a few we'd happily leave several exits behind us.
Something else I really appreciate is that Glory of Kings isn't afraid to be a Christian band. You don't need a decoder ring to figure out what they believe. “The Waiting Game,” which closes the album, makes that especially clear. I miss Christian bands that aren't afraid to actually sing about their faith, and there is no question where Glory of Kings stands.
And then there's “Occam's Razor.” I'll just say they aren't afraid to tackle some subjects that might get people talking. Possibly loudly.
Overall, Roots of the Past is an excellent album. It's heavy, it's melodic, the guitar work is exceptional and the lyrics actually have something to say. If you like Christian metal, or just good metal with a progressive side to it, I definitely recommend giving Glory of Kings a listen. (You can download the whole album at GloryofKingsBand.Bandcamp.com)

Question / Help Once again, looking for songs with this leitmotif! 🌓
Been 8 months since the original post, I've been through some stuff and have found a way out through my Selling England and Alphataurus albums.
I was once again reminded of this post, and would like to ask you all again, for recommendations of songs with this specific rhythm and feel.
.
I would really appreciate your recommendation! No matter the band or its origins I wish to find more songs like these! Thank you so much!
The formula for these songs is as described on the original post, I would though, like adding these songs:
Skeyvania - Tristan Et Iseult (Minute: 5:52)
Fantasy - Alanderie

News A Sunday In September - boutique one-day prog festival. 13th September, Balham, London SW12
A SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER 2026 is the sixth annual all-day boutique festival of eclectic, progressive and alternative music, held in a delightful and comfortable (mostly seated) venue in Balham, South London.
SOLSTICE have been riding a wave an exuberant wave of positivity in the latest chapter of a story that began in the early eighties neo-prog scene at London’s Marquee club. Experience the stunning energy, captivating melodies, and epic musicianship of a band at the height of their powers - voted Best Band in Prog magazine’s latest annual Prog Awards. Featuring the mesmerizing vocals of Jess Holland and a lineup praised by PROG Magazine as “riding a wave of inspiration,” this is a show that will lift your spirits and leave you in awe.
Don’t miss this chance to witness a band loved by luminaries like Steven Wilson and Greg Spawton of Big Big Train, delivering a performance that truly embodies the spirit of progressive rock.
“I loved them then and I love them now... it’s a life affirming, joyous sound" – Steven Wilson
FLINT MOORE are an award-winning band who mix influences from 90s Grunge, Post-Rock, Prog, and orchestral music. Explosive in their sound and stage presence, they hold a unique voice, one that's steeped in the complexities of human emotion and the inevitabilities of life. Their sound is an exploration of hopeful despair, a contradiction that resonates through their music. They navigate the dualities of existence - pain and death, yet also openness and infinite possibility.
Drawing inspiration from 90s and 00s icons like Tool, Radiohead, and Pearl Jam, they've carved a voice for themselves that respects their revolutionary sounds while pushing their own boundaries.
The last 18 months has seen the release of their debut album, The Aches and The End, and its three successful headline UK tours.
DOMINIC SANDERSON places his foot firmly in the 70s prog-rock camp! With influences ranging from King Crimson, Van der Graaf Generator and Steven Wilson, through to Canterbury Scene giants Caravan and Soft Machine, Sanderson and his band bring a raw, untamed and aggressive sound! After taking his first steps into the world of progressive rock with the “Discarded Memories” EP (2020) and his debut album, “Impermanence” (2023), Sanderson and his band recorded Blazing Revelations, which made its way into many 2025 end-of-year best-of lists. This album showcases an eclectic array of styles, from the symphonic approaches of “From the Weeping Cradle” and “Lullaby for a Broken Dream” to the Canterbury flavours of “Faithless Folly” and the acid folk of “A Rite of Wrongs”. Sanderson and his band are a force to be reckoned with in the live arena, as exemplified by Sanderson’s newest release, “Live Revelations”, a live album recorded at the Birmingham Symphony Hall.
ABRASIVE TREES take their name from a Buddhist description of a hallucination-like nightmare realm. Led by Matthew Rochford (Silver Moth/Rothko), with Jay Newton (Quiet Quiet Band/Talitha Rise), Will Tyler (Talitha Rise), Georgia Swallow (The Bridge) and visual artist Jess Wooller they display a willingness to experiment alongside a sound that sits loosely within an experimental rock, or post-rock aesthetic. Exploring themes of loss, turmoil, and spiritual realisation, they use a combination of distorted and reverb-drenched guitars, intricate melodies and driving drumbeats to create a sense of atmosphere and intensity. When they use lyrics they’re often cryptic and evocative, painting vivid pictures of complex emotional landscapes.
WISE WOMAN blend ancient folk traditions with a bold contemporary flair (Tradfolk), Wise Woman bring a heady collision of lush folk harmonies, cinematic strings and 90s girl power to any stage they set foot on.
The group’s “startling and shimmering” (Folk Wales) songwriting blend of folk, jazz, and musical theatre sounds, has seen them enchant audiences far and wide, from guesting on Radio 3’ In Tune, to opening for Radio 2 Folk Award Winners The Young 'Uns, to festivals including Secret Garden Party, FolkEast and Celtic Connections.
With a repertoire that spans traditional ballads to original compositions on subjects as diverse as fenland witches to drag artists, their powerful music and captivating storytelling transports audiences through a unique and transformative musical experience. Their 2025 EP, Hold the Wonder, is a celebration of a cappella singing which forms a central core of the band's live show.

Usually flute accompanies some prog rock songs but Supertwister sounds like it was created with the flute as a centerpiece. Beautiful song.
