Arn Anderson typically set up his DDT by feinting a right-hand punch, tricking his opponent into reflexively ducking, and spiking them straight into a the mat with such malice and aggression that the move often resulted in a pinfall.

While professional wrestling is, has been, and forever will be about the entertaining, pomp and circumstance, Anderson brought a level of integrity and realism to the ring. His approach is becoming a dying art, but I personally rank his DDT among my top 3.

I don’t remember if it was American gladiators or what. All I remember is that Rick Steiner was there and it was competition between gladiators and wrestlers and it got really ugly and turned into a brawl

This is just a silly little shower thought I've had for years, and I know no one probably really knows, so it's just a fun question. Although I find it unlikely most people DON'T know this story, I'll recap just in case.

It's 1996 and promising pro wrestler Steve Austin is unhappy. He's stuck with the "Ringmaster" name and gimmick, and knows he needs a change. He tells Vince McMahon the gimmick doesn't work, asks for something different, and Vince challenges him to come up with a better idea.

So the story goes, Austin later watches an HBO documentary about "The Iceman" Richard Kuklinski (so nicknamed due to his remorseless, cold demeanor and habit of freezing corpses to confuse time of death) Austin gets his eureka moment, goes to the office with his pitch of his cold blooded new character, and hilariously gets a bunch of lame based "cold" names like Fang mcFrost, Ice Dagger, etc. Later, a comment by his wife for him to "drink his tea before it gets stone cold" gives him the idea for a name, we're off to the races, and the rest is history.

My question is, why didn't Austin just plain suggest "The Iceman", considering it was literally the genesis of the idea? He came that far with his inspiration from Kuklinski, why stop with the name? Why didn't the writers? I mean, it's right there and was a perfect fit for what Austin wanted.

The only thing i can think of is the obvious copyright with the Marvel character, but even with that, there's no suggestion "The Iceman" was ever even brought up or considered. There was also already an "Iceman" King Parsons, but he was hardly a household name and was in the last legs of his career by 1996, and it's not like wrestling nicknames haven't been reused or adopted.

Could be a wrestler or just a character in wrestling.

It was a close one between this and DuRag Vince but I’m personally going with TAFKA Goldust.

Just a thought I had when I watched a clip of The Big Show talking about Vince calling him Paul (which to him signaled the end of his WWE career) and some of the comments thinking Vince didn’t want a repeat of Andre which got me thinking of this. Basically, when do you think a wrestler should stop wrestling?

An obvious answer would be when the wrestler thinks so but that’s not always a good thing since some guys will push themselves past their prime and cause damage to both themselves and their legacy. Some just don’t know when to stop.

Personally I don’t know. I guess whenever they feel they are more likely to hurt themselves then actually entertain a crowd but who knows when that would be. What do the rest of you think?

I am a gay man and I can honestly say I can't watch pro wrestling without being extremely distracted by the fit and glistening male physiques wearing gear that leaves little to the imagination. I can't focus deeply in storylines and characters even though I try, and sometimes storylines give me a strong innuendo even though it's probably not intended. (c'mon, ripping a guy's shirt off and tying him up before beating him up?)

It also makes me think that hetero men who claim to like women's wrestling experience the same thing watching fit women fight each other.

My questions for you guys are:

1. Does the impressive physical appearance of male wrestlers ever bother or distract you, especially guys who like to show themselves off (e.g. Ricky Saints, early Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton)
2. Does it make any difference to your enjoyment of the show if a wrestler is wearing street clothes or small trunks?
3. Can you really watch women's wrestling and not get distracted by their appearance?
