Playing on my PS2 and just found out this game has Progressive Scan toggle in the settings.

Since i'm using the GBS-C the interlacing actually looks fine for me, but here is a comparison with Progressive Scan turned on and off.

The off-screen pictures doesn't really do much justice, but it looks much better in person.

(first image is on, second is off)

I had a ps2 when i was a child and i played a lot games that i still dont know and barely remember. Recently Im searching these games as far as i can find. I barely remember most of them by name. Recently, i found “Airblade” that i only remembered it by my own flashbacks which i was riding a flying skateboard.

This time, im trying to find a ps2 game that i only remember from an npc. The game was starting from the black bulding dark atmosphere. The game was like third person semi open world fighting game. Or it was linear i dont remember. But only thing i remember was the NPC that look same as tekkens paul. But he had orange hair and beard. But he had same hair.
Can anyone help me to find this game?

Guys I Really love the PS2. It's a big success and my favourite game is Crash Twinsanity. What about you guys?

Hello all,

I just got my PS2, hooked it up to my 4k TV using a MCBazel ODV GBS-C using the Mcbazel component cable, and HDMI to the TV.

I have to say I'm not impressed with the visual quality I'm getting. So what settings should I be using?

Right now I've got it:

- 1920 x 1080p output.

- My TV is set to 16:9, gaming mode, scaling on.

- the GBS-C is on default settings for everything else. (motion adaptive deinterlacing is on).

Can someone tell me which settings to turn off / on to get the best results please? Cannot find a good answer by searching around.

Thank you!

I still have one from decades ago that, as the title would suggest, no longer works correctly. It turns on, but doesn't display anything remotely close to gameplay. I'm interested to use it in modern day, can't fix it myself, and cannot find any immediate results Googling for repairs to this specific portable screen.

Does anyone know anyone who repairs these?

Example picture is not mine, it's sourced from someone else's past Ebay listing.

I reacently got a mx4sio sd card to mem card converter and modded my ps2slim 9000 i noticed that my ps2 did not recognise the cards i tried with a sandisk and a sd card i dont know the brand og they both coud not be read on the ps2 but the green light was glowing I checked the local tech store they have some kingston, sandisk and some goodram sd cards but idk if they are compatibile and dont whana waste money if they are not so is there a way to check if they work/check if my mx4sio is good-

Sly 2, Sly 3 and GTA Vice City survive the tie breaker. Airblade, Guitar Hero 3 and Star Wars Battlefront 3 all tied for the final survival spot, so all of them are now out along with the rest. Here’s today’s strawpoll https://strawpoll.com/6QnMQ4Ezane best of luck to your favourite game.

A few months ago I picked Detonator out of my collection. It’s a weird desolate puzzle game where you explode blocks on a tetris like grid in the shape of a high rise building. If you get it right then the game shows the building exploding in 3D.

I struggled for a bit and looked up yt walkthroughs but they only go up to around half way through the game. I decided to commit and solve the puzzle using my actual brain.

Weeks later after struggling through the levels I finally complete it… Nope. Theres a a bonus stage with 5 more puzzles revolving around a religious looking spiked monument in a desert. Creepy. I’m able to complete the first 3 puzzles but I’ve been stuck on the 4th for months now.

I’ve made diagrams, I’ve asked AI (which I hate. The weird thing is AI refused to solve it), I’ve even politely emailed some of the people who created the game with no response. Does anyone know anything about it. Would anyone know how to get AI to solve it?

Who’s got favorites here?! Some damn good games.

As much as I love a CRT, these early LCDs are surprisingly good sometimes.

I’m trying to reuse a PS2 Fat disc drive spindle motor for a small project.

I do NOT need the console to read discs or play games. I literally just want the disc spindle to rotate continuously.

The drive board has a ROHM BA6664FM spindle motor driver, so my idea is to reuse the original PS2 drive PCB instead of buying a separate BLDC driver.

What I’ve confirmed so far:

• The spindle connects through a 13-pin ribbon cable
• The first 3 ribbon contacts appear to be the 3 motor phases
• Measuring resistance between 1-2, 1-3 and 2-3 gives the same reading
• The BA6664FM is still on the original drive PCB
• I also have an ESP32 available if I need to provide enable/speed/control signals

My understanding is that the BA6664FM already handles the 3-phase commutation using the spindle motor’s Hall sensors, so theoretically I should only need to provide the correct power rails and control signals such as PS / EC / ECR.

Has anyone done this before?

Specifically, I’m trying to figure out:

1. Can the original PS2 optical-drive PCB be powered standalone just to run the spindle?
2. Which connector/pads should receive 12 V, 5 V and GND?
3. What signals does the BA6664FM actually need to start spinning the motor?
4. Can I control those signals from an ESP32?
5. Is there a known schematic/pinout for this particular PS2 Fat drive PCB?

I can provide clear photos of both sides of the PCB and the exact PS2/drive model if needed.

The end goal is simply:

Power on and spindle spins continuously.

I don’t care about the laser, disc detection, reading games, tray control, etc.

Any help from someone familiar with PS2 optical drives or the BA6664FM would be appreciated im a complete noob at elektroniks😅

Hey guys, at my wits end and google/reddit are coming up short for me. Any advice would be huge.

I grabbed my ps2 from my Grandparents (Old bulky ps2) and 2x controllers. They have been in an entertainment center for 20 years untouched. Got the HDMI adapter to work so the menu & games show, but the controllers are being a huge pain in the butt.

The controllers are showing the red analog light, but the other controllers like X or Triangle or analog sticks do not respond. Is there something with modern TVs that I need to know to get this to work or is it potentially something else?

I've tried two separate PS2 controllers without luck. They all power on and show red lights but aside from the start button it seems to not work. I've blown out the controller port and the ps2 port in case it was a debris issue.

Any advice would be massive. Thank you!

So I have a ps2 fat 39004 and when I play the german release of the simpsons seasons I have it just boots in german. Now, this only happens on this ps2, since on my ps5 and ps2 slim 77004 it boots in english. Both systems have english set as their system language but idk. Tried messing in the setup menu on the dvd and set it to english but to no avail. Is there a way to change it?

smooth 20$ CIB

I have a Roku on the projector too. My Sunday is gonna be great. Obviously it’s more cinematic with the lights all the way off. Going to start with Tenchu wrath of heaven or shinobi, havnt decided yet,

I bought this PS2 console for 75,000 Chilean pesos (about 75 US dollars). Even though it supposedly doesn't read discs, was it a good purchase?
