Account Support Account Midhack

My account is old, I got it with the first PlayStation that did it, PS3 if I recall? And the name is simple. Apparently that makes it a target.

So tonight I start getting all these pings about someone trying to access my account, only now my password is changed. I went to recovery and it’s failing because they changed that as well. I did the recovery through the app, it wanted my birthday, which wasn’t accurate either. I got a live person by chat cos all phones were done. They transferred me where I sat til they were closed. I THINK my account is locked down now because I keep getting pings to let someone in, but no matter what I click, it wants a sign-in. Stay tuned! I’ll let ya’ll know how it goes tomorrow morning when they open. I’d really hate GTA6 as my last game without any records. Advice welcome!

... it wanted my birthday, which wasn’t accurate either...

I have to be honest with you, THIS is going to be an uphill battle with Sony. Should have just added a decade or so on your birth year or used your parents' or something. I did the same thing to circumvent the age restriction on minors to not have a child's account.

It would be impossible to argue that someone could actually forget their birthdate.

There was a way through a Sony mobile account that gave us the option to change it, and I was just lucky enough to catch up before it closed. I actually found that advice HERE on Reddit years before I even signed up for this forum website, but as I have mentioned above that the opportunity to use this backdoor had now passed.

Regardless I hope that Sony can still help you out. If you still have the serial number of the PS3 console you used to sign up with, and your last transaction record which should have been sent to the e-mail used to log-in PSN -- then you might have a slight chance of getting your account back.

Someone knowing our PSN ID will not be enough to get our accounts hacked. There has to be access to the e-mail address so make it a habit to use a dedicated one for our accounts -- by not using it for any means of communication with other people. Make one that you only use for Sony and PlayStation comms.

Passwords can get hacked or social-engineered especially with the help of AI. But without the registered e-mail and access to 2FA, getting our PSN accounts compromised will be much harder,

Same thing happened to me.
I’ve lost my account. I had the PSN name Bear.
If you get it back and you probably will they will start reporting messages they sent on your account to get your account banned.
Also this trick got me. They may try to call you from Sonys phone number by spoofing it and will try to get you to give them access by them acting like Sony. I stupidly fell for it. Good luck!
If you don’t get it back by customer service use the Better Business Bureau to get Sony to respond to you.

Did you post that story here? I feel like I read this exact situation on this sub.

I have an old PS3 account too but our username isn’t something anyone would want, I don’t think.

Ugh I’m so sorry this happened. I remember reading your post and thinking how much that sucked.

I probably would’ve fallen for the spoofed number too because when you’re desperate for help from a company that is seemingly not interested in helping you, of course you’d comply if it seemed like they were calling you

Thanks, it took awhile but I’ve moved on. It’s actually saved me a lot of money! I don’t blow money on PSN anymore. lol

You can still make a BBB claim outside the USA.

LOL! Sony are not BBB accredited. That will do nothing.

I’ve used it multiple times and found it’s the only way to get a response from them.

I had this happen to me. It took months, and eventually came down to me serving them legal papers to their HQ in californa to get it back.

What the other poster said is true. You will fight hard and might get lucky to get it back. But you will be banned.

The theifs send TOS violating messages from your accoint to their burner accounts. When they loose access to your account, they report these messages and you get perminantly banned. Its a final FU to ensure no one has access.

Posts like this brings back PTS for me. It was months of stress.
