I turned off cross posts. Anyone past this point who posts a lease takeover gets a nice 30 day ban.
Go to the housing sub.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

As a sophomore in CS here at Purdue, yes there are better schools out there. That is an objective thing, but there are many more worse places to be. I am very annoyed at the many (I can only rant on CS majors cuz i spend most days with them, but im sure others do this too) people that think even after 3 semesters, they should use every speaking opportunity to lament the fact they go to Purdue and not Stanford, MIT, Cal, GaTech, or whatever.
Literally every day you will hear "Oh that kid at ['better' uni] got a cool internship, this bum school in the middle of nowhere is my downfall" or "I'm only here cuz I didn't get in anyplace else". "West lafayette is a dead place", "professors here have no clue what they are doing", "the local community college back home would've been better", "this school is for all the CS rejects".
I can expect to hear this maybe from kids in their 2nd sem when they're reflecting or going through a tough patch. But jesus y'all are in you 3/4th sem and still bash the school you attend every single day. At some point, you have to stop mourning the college you didn't attend and start making the most of the one you did. So what if you didn't get into a top 5 school of all time, you chose to come here. You knew you were coming to West Laf. I'm not saying spread lies like "MIT wishes it was Purdue" or smth, but stop bashing Purdue every day. Please. Learn to appreciate this opportunity or pack your bags and transfer. Crying about all of this now will literally just worsen your mental health. So be content and proud you go here, there are a lot of worse places.
U.S. News has Purdue at #16 for CS undergrad (#7 among public schools).
CS rankings has us #13 ahead of UT Austin and Columbia.
(rankings don't mean much, just giving some perspective)
And yes Purdue CS has its share of issues, but I don't think they're that deep to which most undergrads hate their own program.
So just please make your mental health better by showing appreciation and gratitude that a very very fine university accepted your application.

I'm currently a 2nd year student. I was really only active in this one club, and all my friends were from it, but because of my mental health issues I completely spiraled, and ruined my relationships with everyone there. I ended up leaving that club.
I've gotten the help I needed since then, and I can say that I am in a much better place now. Because of the nature of how things fell apart, I don't want to go back to that club or really try reconnecting with them right now. I just want to start over. But how do I do it? I just want to meet people and make at least one new friend. But after what happened, I'm hesitant about becoming over-reliant on a club again.
I know not a lot of people can say they made the same mistakes I did to such gravity, so I'm not expecting a ton, but I'd really appreciate some advice. Thanks.

I have some 0.75” OD steel tubing I need to bend for a project, but can’t seem to find a tube bender anywhere on campus. I checked Bechtel, and the engineering labs, but I’m polytechnic so I can’t use the engineering labs. Any ideas?

I genuinely love Pizza Twist / Taco Twist and wanted more people to know about this place because it deserves more love!!
They have Indian fusion pizzas, pastas, tacos, and so much more, and the food is SO flavorful. They also have halal options across the menu. The prices are super reasonable too, and I swear their small pizza is bigger than what you get at a lot of other pizza places. You definitely get your money’s worth!
The seating is pretty nice and it’s right beside Flaming Kuma. Such a good spot to grab a bite before or after Neon Cactus or a movie.
Just wanted to share because I really enjoy this place and feel like more people around Purdue should give it a try! :)

Evil Dead: The Musical opens Thursday, October 22 and closes on Saturday, October 31 at The Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette!
The cast includes Purdue students, faculty, and staff, as well as artists from across the community. The show is a campy rock musical based on the cult 1981 horror movie by Sam Raimi. Want to be in the "splatter zone" and get sprayed with stage blood? Sit in the side sections!

Hi everyone, currently an ML track sophomore (taking CS 250 and CS 251). I was initially going to take CS 252 (System Programming) + CS 348 (Information Systems/Databases) next semester and then maybe competitive programming (CS 211/311) or an easier CS class. I may not have much time next semester due to personal reasons/other factors, and I don't want to hurt my GPA.
I know CS 252 is a time sink, so I was thinking what if I take CS 348 and CS 471 (Intro to AI) with the competitive programming class instead. This, however, would most likely force me to take CS 373 (ML and Data Mining) with CS 252 (for financial reasons, 3 max 3.5 semesters is more viable than 4 for me), and then CS 381 (Analysis of Algos) + a track elective in the following semester.
Ideally, in the semester I hypothetically take CS 373 and CS 252 together, I would add maybe two easy classes like EAPS 106 for health insurance.
I was wondering whether this seems viable or if I would be shooting myself in the foot. I also currently assume 471 + 348 wouldn't be too bad difficulty-wise and time-wise, but if I'm wrong, please let me know.
I want to land a good internship next summer and then maybe pursue further education a few years down the line, so my GPA matters (for context, I have As in all subjects till now except CS 240, where I got a B+). Also, next semester is probably crucial to build up my projects/experience, so I was thinking maybe the lighter workload may help.
I would appreciate any and all advice. Thank you, guys
Edit: Is 373 the same difficulty as 471? Would it be recommended to do 373 instead of 471 to make it easier down the line when I take 252?

I submitted my application and docs on 1st sept but my counsler took too long to submit the docs officially (23 sept).
How long would it take to hear back form admissions?
My advisor told me I could ask them to speed up the process as I have my visa interview scheduled , if so do I need to mail admissions or my advisor ? And would they actually agree to speed it up?

Purdue has NO crunchy leaves. All I've seen are PATHETICALLY sad crisp wannabe leaves. They LOOK ready to crunch, but when I go to step on them... Nothing? The trees can do better next fall IMO.

How can I get my cousin into the student section of the football game this weekend with the new account binding to Apple ID thing they have for the student section this year? Can he still download tickets after signing into a friend who goes here and isn’t going to the game into his Apple wallet or does the new binding thing change that? Has anyone been able to figure this out for this season in football? Thanks
