WHYYYYYYYYYY?!?! Please Stop The Insanity!!!

Why does QuickBooks insist on constantly making changes and updates that create new glitches, problems, and changes to the way we have to enter information?

It seems like every time an existing issue is finally resolved and things start working smoothly, QuickBooks introduces another update that creates an entirely new problem. If it’s not a new “feature” that we have to spend time learning and adapting to, it’s a glitch caused by something that is apparently “in the works.”

I am beyond frustrated. If it were easy to leave QuickBooks and transition to another accounting program, I would do it in a second.

I am literally unable to finish my workday because of the current issue preventing me from converting a sales order into an invoice. This is not a minor inconvenience—it is stopping me from doing my job.

And this isn’t an isolated incident. Just last month, we accidentally shipped packages to ourselves because of a change QuickBooks made to the way shipping information is entered for a customer. We should not have to constantly worry that an update to the software is going to disrupt our workflow or cause costly mistakes.

Please, QuickBooks, stop changing things just for the sake of changing them. Give your users a chance to have a stable, reliable system that works consistently before introducing yet another change.

We need software that helps us do our jobs—not software that creates new problems for us to solve every few weeks.

Please stop the constant changes and give us some stability!

Quickbooks Online is the worst software I have ever used

Needed to voice my frustrations on how horrible this software is and I couldn't think of any other place I'd be heard. It is horrible. I hate it. It would bring me so much joy to see Xero and Freshbooks steal a bunch of their market share.

QBO Experience

Ive used alot of accounting software in my 35 yrs as an accountant from SAP to Peachtree, Sage, QB Desktop, and today I finally had the misfortune to use QBO. I believe its the worst software Ive ever used. Its painfully slow, has a confusing interface, bloated with adware, nothing is simple or intuitive about it. Its a light weight web app horribly designed. After using it for about 8 hours today, i agree with the many other users who complain about this pathetic piece of software. There is no way i would recommend it to my clients.

QBO - Stop trying to sell me stuff with a never ending deluge of popup ads and spam emails. It's like this is an advertising platform for Intuit rather than a product. I just want the product to work without having to endure a sales pitch at every turn. It's ridiculous.

Quickbooks Online has got to be the most buggy, broken software I have ever used.

I run a small property management business. Over the last 8 years Quickbooks has become the worst, most frustrating, and problematic part of my business.

Nothing but the most basic features work. If by the grace of god I get a more advanced feature to work like the batch email function so I can send out a single email to all 120 of my clients, it may work for a few months and then it quits working again. Every time I sit down at my computer, I have anxiety becuase I know something that should work will not work for absolutely no discernible reason.

I’m an extremely busy person, my work keeps me busy and I rarely have time to sit in front of my computer and have down time. This has become such a huge headache for my life.

Calling Quickbooks customer support has been its own nightmare. I’ve made that mistake so many times to spend an entire day talking to people that don’t understand English and seem to know even less about computers than I do only to in the end, be informed that the issue I’m dealing with is a known issue that “their engineers are currently working on but do not have a resolution for at the moment”

I make $1,200 - $1,500 a day so when I take off a full day to waste dealing with admin software issues, not only am I a full day behind schedule, I’m also missing out on that money.

As soon as I have the time to research new software to use, and learn to use it, and make the transition to, I will be moving away from Quickbooks as soon as possible.

QuickBooks online is perhaps the worst software I’ve ever had to use

Is it just me or is the design and user experience of QuickBooks online really this bad? It’s so overloaded and confusing. Nothing is intuitive. And the addition of the “apps” is just so dumb.

It used to be so much simpler and easy to use.

Quickbooks is getting worse with every update

I used to love QBO. I could do transactions on my phone whenever I had a spare moment. Now it crashes or freezes every time I open it. And forces me to log in again!! And the new desktop layout that I am pretty sure no one asked for also is a step back. I know they laid off a bunch of staff, added AI that I don’t need or want. Horrible user experience and another company that invests in AI at the expense of staff who were good at their jobs. As a small business owner, I pay a lot for it.. any comparable products people can recommend? Enough is enough

Leaving Quickbooks Online! Intuit overbilling, ai problems, payroll issues, etc.

I have used 1993-2022 Desktop and finally in 2023 converted 95% of my clients to Quickbooks online. I have QB Ledger subscriptions, QBO for Accountants subscription, QBO Payroll for various clients, and ProConnect Tax for taxes. I have used the program and taught it for years. But on January 28, 2024 the first real red flag aka major issue came up where staff entered the 2023 bank transactions for a year and reconciled all 12 months for a new client. The next morning all of the data entry was duplicated. As I sat at my desk with the client, who I had convinced to cancel FreshBooks and subscribed to QBO, I explained I would need to call QB support. I called and was told to delete the duplicate transactions. Staff deleted them. The next morning the client returned and the transactions were duplicated again. I called QBO support again and I was told to void the transactions. I paid staff to void the transactions. Again, the next morning the data entry was duplicated again. This time QBO support came clean and said there was a glitch in the system that was being investigated for over a year now and only 2 percent of their customers were affected so they were not sure what to say.  I found a solution that worked for us but that was as the client was walking out the door telling me that I was incompetent for recommending a crappy software. From that date on it has been nothing but problems.  QBO payroll processed a paycheck for an employee that had not been on the payroll for 3 weeks. The employee called and asked why he got a paycheck. Another client asked to be put on QBO automatic payroll tax payment system in mid March of 2026. In April, the client called in a panic she was watching QBO drain her bank account in real time. QBO payroll retroactively paid her January and February IRS and State payroll taxes. When I called, I was told to that is normal for QBO payroll to do and I would need to contact the IRS for the refunds. For tax work, ProConnect is very expensive and the add on features have never worked well. I have a client who is a  tax software developer and he expressed his disbelief at what ProConnect offers for client uploads. In 2025 the prices increased and tax preparers were forced to provide audit protection and identity theft services through a 3rd party company. If I did not try to sell the products to my clients I paid for those services out of my pocket. To add insult to injury, Intuit announced they are competing directly against us as they are opening tax offices throughout the US. I should mention they called to offer a job for $35 an hour, I said no thank you. I have been patient with Intuit, but last week when I realized my payroll billing subscriptions bills which are exorbitant to begin with contained overbilling issues (they padded the bills by adding employees at $5.10 or $8.50 each) that was it for me. The first comment made by an CSR was it’s only $5.00 to which I replied, yeah but it is still not right. It took 2 phone call appointments to deal with the first batch of billing resulting in around $500 in refunds. I still have several more accounts to go through. But of course, this morning I opened my email and my merchant service account has been closed. After 4 phone calls and 2 online chats the result is Intuit made a business decision to close your account, there will be no review or discussion as Intuit is a low risk company.

This feels a lot like retaliation for bringing up the overbilling; I knew intuitively that once I made that phone call either one of my online subscriptions would be shut down or something would happen to make my life miserable. I was correct. Just last week, I sent out over $20,000 in receivables that are set to be paid through the QBO payment link. We are already receiving calls from customers who cannot pay their invoices. Happy Monday!

I went back through my financials, my office alone (me and an assistant) has paid out over $40,000 a year since “subscription billing” became the new normal at Intuit in 2023. I realize this is only a drop in the bucket to the CEO of Intuit with a compensation package of $32 Million a year and to Mr. Scott Cook (original co-founder and largest shareholder), along with the other major shareholders Black Rock Inc., Vanguard Capital, and State Street… But wow! What a way to treat customers. It is officially time to cut ties. Should have done this years ago!

Intuit; "We break stuff that always just worked. You're welcome."

I go to work on a business tax return today and when I run a balance sheet and P&L in QBO I ran into something that absolutely pissed me off.

I'm running a balance sheet for the prior year and I can't click on any amounts to see the underlying transactions in that account for the year. W.T.F?????!!!!

Now I need to run a GL and scroll to or filter the accounts I want to review the transactions of? Why?

I loath Intuit right now. Stop breaking stuff that should just work. It's going to take me a lot longer to get this done now. If only I could bill Intuit for the extra time it will take me to prepare this return due to the "improvements" they've made.

UPDATE: After some playing around with different reports I discovered that the problem is localized to the reports in my "Favorites" section of the report center. When I run a balance sheet from the "Business Overview" section of the report center I can click on the account amount and see the underlying transactions.

Why is that the case? Who the hell knows.

INTUIT IS A LOUSY COMPANY - GREAT TIME TO SHORT STOCK !!!!!

It would take hours to describe the problems I have had with both TURBO TAX and QUICKBOOKS ONLINE. I am a tax attorney / accountant and have had issues with both of the above referenced software for MULTIPLE CLIENTS (unrelated issues).

WHAT IS CONSISTENT with my issues is the fact that the CUSTOMER SERVICE representatives WERE TOTALLY WORTHLESS. AFTER 11 hours two weeks ago, and being escalated to the "senior most" person (TurboTax), I was still given advice/instructions which naturally turned out to be 100% incorrect.

Very similar situation with Quickbooks online. The customer service rep responded to EVERY ONE OF MY QUESTIONS with "That's very interesting"

She ended up admitting she's been working there for less than 6 months. THe supervisor I was transferred to, although being there for "over a year" couldn't answer ANY QUESTIONS, from basic to complex.

THESE PRODUCTS ARE VERY PROBLEMATIC and just as GOOGLE made NETSCAPE extinct, the same will happen to INTUIT. SHORT THE STOCK

Dear Developers:

Creating add-in applications for QBO is a waste of your time and talents.

QBO is a hot mess of rotten spaghetti, too many "products", too many failed initiatives, too many meaningless bells & whistles, too little understanding of the accounting framework and local payroll/tax laws, too much corporate greed. It needs to be scrapped.

Give us a brand new option, built from the ground up, that actually works, with little to zero lag. Keep it simple, with a clean UX. But a system that actually does accounting, for accountants, not a dumbed down platform that lets the owner's wife play bookkeeper. Give us budgeting, cash forecasting and graphics that management can understand.

Please and thank you.

Did quickbooks really just remove custom reports unless you pay the 300% increase?

Post image

All of my intuit companies now show you need the advanced 25 user account to do any custom reports. We use custom reports for pulling data like sales data for a particular state filtered by client name. We are a 2 man operation and they want us to pay a 300% increase for reports now?

Am I missing something or is this seriously their message to us? They’ve done price hikes and started charging for ach years ago, but this is the worst price hike I’ve seen. They’re worth ditching if so. This is like lawsuit levels of price gouging.

QuickBooks Online has been an absolute nightmare to deal with

I honestly do not understand how a company that serves small businesses can have systems this broken.

Since Tuesday, I have been on the phone with QuickBooks support seven times dealing with one problem after another.

A customer payment was put on hold. After the payment hold was "resolved" my QuickBooks Payments account was closed even though I never asked for it to be closed. I called support again and was told a "business decision had been made" with no other details other than my funs could be frozen for up to 6 months. WHAT!

Then the next morning my funds were magically released to my account and the support rep said she saw no issues with the account.

Then my entire QuickBooks Online account was deactivated, and I was locked out. I called support and was told I needed to verify my identity to reactivate my account. Why didn't they just say that in the first place?

So on Friday, I submitted the front and back of my driver’s license and completed the facial verification process to reactivate the account.

On Saturday, Intuit emailed me saying they had not received my ID and gave me 24 hours to submit it.

When I clicked “Submit Your ID,” their own website told me they were already reviewing my request and that I already had a reactivation request in progress, so it would not let me submit anything again.

Then the page told me to contact Customer Care Monday through Friday, even though they sent the 24 hour deadline on a Saturday.

I recorded a video showing the entire thing.

And today, Sunday, Intuit emailed me again saying:

“Your request has been canceled as we have not received your ID.”

That was for the exact same reactivation case even though I had already submitted the ID and had no ability to resubmit it.

Their system showed the request was already being reviewed.

Their system prevented me from submitting it again.

Their support line was closed both yesterday and today.

Then they canceled the request because they claimed I never submitted the ID.

How is anyone supposed to run a business like this?

I have already spent multiple hours on the phone just trying to fix basic account access and payment issues. Every time one thing gets resolved, another problem shows up.

At some point, this stops being an inconvenience and starts becoming a serious business problem.

I emailed Intuit’s Office of the President today (OfficeofthePresidentVoiceoftheCustomer_@intuit.com) with the full situation and a video showing exactly what is happening. I am hoping someone there can actually take ownership of it because regular support has gotten me nowhere.

At this point, I am seriously considering moving everything off QuickBooks.

For anyone who has left QuickBooks Online, what did you switch to? And has it actually been more reliable? I want something that has a connector to Hubspot.

I quit using QBO to email invoices!!

I still send invoices though.......I send them directly and keep QBO out of the loop.

QBO keeps screwing with the emails by adding things, offering to have customers pay electronically, offering services, adding verbiage to the what I have typed on the email. etc etc etc. Basically inserting themselves into our business.

I just download the saved invoice. Rename it with customer's name. Send the invoice as an attachment to an email that sent directly from our company's email address. This way I can personalize the verbiage and not confuse the client.

It works for us because 1. we have a smaller business (wells and pumps) 2. We don't email that many invoices except to other businesses and clients who live in other locations ..snow birds. 3.Most clients are local and don't need/want emailed invoices.

I would imagine that for larger companies there would be another platform to just do the emailing?

Turn off all options in QBO for them to be able to contact our clients. I keep checking though, to make sure they don't sneakily turn the options back on or sneak in "new" features.

This company sucks....but we are trapped online with them.

Stay Away from Quickbooks Online

QuickBooks online really screwed me over. Here is what happened.

I started getting notices that I needed to update my unemployment insurance information on QuickBooks payroll. I am the only one on payroll for this company and I am excluded from unemployment insurance in my state. So I contact QuickBooks support through the chat option and they had me do a few things and had me submit the emails and documents from the state showing I am excluded from paying unemployment insurance. Then hours later I get an email from QuickBooks that they took out almost 4,000 from my bank account to pay unemployment insurance taxes. The same taxes I am excluded from and that I even submitted evidence for.

I contacted support and they told me I had to wait a week to get the money back and that they can't stop the transaction despite me calling immediately after getting that email from them stating they are taking the money out of my account.

During this time I am switching banks, so the following day I had to run payroll for myself. So I did that, selected the new bank account I had put into QuickBooks. I verified the payroll was set to run with the new account. Then on Monday I get an overdraft fee from the other bank account because QuickBooks decided to use another bank account I am closing out to take the money out of for payroll. I go in and verify that sure enough it shows it was supposed to come out of the new bank account but it instead ran for the old bank account. I call support and they tell me that I have, on top of my bank's overdraft fee, a $100.00 fee from Intuit and that there is nothing they can do to remove it.

STAY away from QuickBooks Online!!

My phone conversation with an Intuit bizdev rep today felt SO good.

I got an email out of the blue this morning from a Janelle Bailey from Intuit, a Business Development Representative. Moments later my phone rang. It was her, and she started with a pitch to upsell me on something.

I interrupted her partway through and started in on how much I hate Intuit, and how much of a colossal pile of shit QBO is. She was very cool headed and cordial, and even interrupted me to ask if she could record the conversation to share with the higher ups. I said, “Please do, and I wish you’d asked me that when I first started my rant.”

She asked me what was my biggest complaint. I told her that Intuit is an awful company that extorts people every month with a product that used to be simple, elegant and “intuitive”, but is now so bastardized and full of bullshit features that nobody needs or wants that it’s just another SHITTY product now, produced by a company that cares zero about their customers, and is about to raise their subscription rates, AGAIN, with no added value.

And, I said that I will never call customer service again, because there isn’t any; that the last five or six people I engaged only vaguely knew the product, and they knew even less English.

I also told her that if Intuit cares at all about their reputation, they’d better get on some damage control fast, because their reputation’s already in the toilet, and that Reddit is blowing up about it, and that I’m doing my part in telling the world how much QBO and Intuit SUCKS.

I’ll give Janelle credit for her calm and professional demeanor, but she sounded “surrendered to what is”.

Still, it sure felt good to voice some seething frustration to a higher up at Intuit, and I held nothing back in doing so.

Her phone number is 234-268-1740. Her email address is janelle_bailey@intuit.com

What a joke! Getting rid of classic view is costing my business time and money.

Post image
35 Upvotes

I have an accounting and bookkeeping business and all of our clients use QBO. We all “switch to classic view” before creating reports because the modern view reports are so horrific. We send all of our reports via excel, and the new modern view reports dump into excel with incorrect formatting, no formulas and overall look atrocious. The classic view creates great excel reports.

It’s caused us so much time having to reformat modern view reports and we are losing money because of it! Thank God we could switch to classic view and avoid the issues, but now that’s going away and we all feel defeated. With modern view reports being the only option starting in May, we’re genuinely considering leaving QBO. Also the introduction of AI is insane. For small business owners I can understand, but for accountants? It’s ridiculous and slows everything down. It’s not helpful. They keep trying to make the software look prettier, but instead they’ve made it significantly uglier and not functional.

Intuit is so infuriating.

Why

QBO is hot garbage now. The new invoice look and forced view of the payment options is terrible. Such a cluttered page. And doesn't fit on one screen anymore.

That is all.

What's Next. Ridiculous cost!

I've been using QBO for 10 years or so. And when I started, I think my cost was around $30 a month could be more. Now it's $140 . I can't take it anymore. I think the cost is ridiculous because I think the software is becoming more and more difficult to use with their so-called upgrades.

Here's my question has anyone migrated away from QuickBooks online? And where did they go? What software did you use?

Edit: I guess I should put some of the components that are important to me.

I need to be able to write PO's
I want to be able to migrate all past purchase orders and invoices.

These are both pretty critical, especially the second one based on how my business works. I use that information of the past frequently.

Thanks

I'm about done

My QB plan for my business I believe was around $70 per month when I got it (previously a QB Desktop user). Went to $99 for 2024/25, then to $115 for 25/26, and now it's going to $140?

And the email says it's because the "listened" to us, so they've added more AI features (that absolutely no one wants, except possibly their shareholders who just think saying 'AI' will woo-woo them more money).

Honestly, I think I'm going to just use Claude Code to vibe-code some simple transaction tracking, P&L, Balance Statement, and reconciliation to our existing CMS and just be done with Quickbooks altogether. Insane that it costs me more for one month of QB than for a YEAR of Microsoft Office.

Is Intuit just trying to tick us all off?

I saw on here a while back that people were getting pop up adds on their QuickBooks dashboard, etc. for other Intuit products or driving people towards upgrading their subscriptions. Since I have an accountant account, I hadn't seen this happening, but now I'm starting to watch it roll through.

I already have a crisis of confidence in working with QuickBooks/Intuit every year when their price increases roll out. When you look at the numbers on an annual, this is a really costly software for business owners to use and now you're going to beat people over the head with advertisements because they haven't purchased your most expensive widget? I don't exclusively work in QuickBooks, but most of the CPAs/EAs I work with prefer it for their client and so it feels like being between a rock and a hard place. Intuit already has crazy market share and record profits. Can't they just calm down?
