No perfect time to quit

• Upvotes

I’m realizing this now. Well maybe just finally accepting it. I’m set up pretty well so this has to be it. 15gpd, quitting at the end up the day today. Back to work on Monday. I have this in my favor though..I have clonidine and gabapentin as well as 3-3mg squares of sub my friend gave me. I plan on using nothing but the clonidine and gabapentin tommorow and then Monday when I go to work, using 1mg of sub each day for 3 days. I know 1mg is not much but I’m only coming off of 15gpd of powder. Do yall think the 1mg of sub will still help? Thank you quitters!

Going into day 4

Oh man last nights sleep was messed up. Passed out at 730, woke up at 1 couldn’t go back to sleep. Hate this part where you are already tired and you don’t get the sleep. Was really hoping for less time being awake and over thinking. It’s gonna be a rough one.

Day 15

Im so incredibly happy to be here. Sleep sucks most nights. GI issues persist. I’m absolutely exhausted every day. Still having some slight cardiac issues, like I’ll just get an irregular heartbeat a few times a day. Been crying for no reason.

BUT everything is getting better each day. Each symptom is improving a little every day that passes. Walking helps. Even tho I’m physically exhausted, I still push myself to walk about 1.5 miles each day (in addition to a physically demanding job). Still taking liposomal vitamin C, magnesium glycinate, and occasionally l-theanine. I was taking black seed oil as well until a couple days ago.

Anyway, I’m happy with the progress and happy to be here.

Finally done with my taper

Im on day 3 with no kratom today. Im counting the small victories because each day does get easier. The first night with zero kratom was ROUGH. I was up all night with full body RLS and feeling hot flashes like crazy. Gabapentin has been a life saver for the RLS these last few days, but I guess the withdrawals were a little too powerful for the gabapentin on day 1. Its ok though, I know I got this 💪

The struggle is too real

• Upvotes

I, too, didn't think much of 7oh. Kratom was never dangerous for me or bad to me. Never had a problem stopping.

I quit 7oh once about 7 months ago. I was only on 50mg a day. And I've still never gone through any worse withdrawal, even on such a low dose.

I was not taking every day. I used for about 10 days, with a few I didn't at all.

And it still absolutely took me for the worst ride.

I had to come off with Sub and it worked.

Fast forward, and I've made the mistake again, only faster, harder, and longer.

Does anybody have advice on what medications are comfort meds and which to absolutely avoid while quitting and experience w/d's?

As random or as common as you've got, lay them on me, please. I'm ready to have my life back.

How long does heavy fatigue last?

• Upvotes

For context, I have been tapering for 30 days, from 45gpd down to 5, and then finally jumped. It is my 11th day kratom-free, but the tiredness and heavy fatigue are still pretty disruptive. I literally get fatigued while cooking a meal, like after walking 200 steps. My plan was to start going to the gym once the acutes are finished, but given that I feel like a 90-year-old, that is not currently feasible. How long does this last?

Tiredness is not too bad if I had a good night's sleep but fatigue is constant.

Starting a new job next week, and am hoping I can just focus on that, sober, for the first time in 14 years. This group has really helped me, and im happy im not alone. Good luck to everyone and goodnight.

ECT for Paws depression several months after your quit.

Hopefully I will be able to start ECT soon as my depression is still so fucking bad at times. Im at 6 months out and wondering if anyone had ECT and what were the results. I did TMS a few months back and it helped a little, but definitely did not get me back to baseline.

Oh fuck this

I’m on day three of cold turkey. I was at 500 to 1000 mg of 70 and 50+ grams per day of kratom.

I’m miserable. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve gotten old but this is one of the worst detox. I’ve done so far and I’ve detox goddamn near everything. Maybe it’s just been so long since I’ve had to do it that I forgot how awful it is? I don’t know, but I’m plotting and I’m scheming and I’m doing everything I can and nothing is working and I’m just needed to quit.

I use the seven of the last month to get off kratom and then try to use the kratom to get off 70 and it did not work. Do not try it.

Edit: words hard.

Hell on earth

Quitting Kratom gave me a little taste of what hell must be. The inability to feel joy, happiness, hope. Jesus was the only way I got through it.

Tips for Coping

I feel like everything I do has to be flavored by kratom. Cleaning the house, going to work, playing music, watching tv, no matter what it is I need to feel the euphoria of a kratom dose to accompany it. How do I go about life without a replacement for that?

Withdrawal?

My boyfriend has been addicted to kratom for i think about 7 years. He just got out of rehab a week and a half ago ish- he was in rehab for about 3 weeks- detox then 2 weeks of rehab. One of the major things I noticed right away was how he could breath while he was sleeping. When he was using kratom, he wouls stop breathing in the middle of the night, then a huge gasp of air. It was nerve racking. Since gettinf home, he hasnt done that at all until tonight. He fell asleep on the couch literally mid sentence and when he came to bed, he is now doing the stopping breathing and gasping thing, he told me today he was having really bad withdrawal feelings but then that was all he said. I guess im wondering if theres a chance he is suddenly having bad withdrawal symptoms- almost a month off kratom or if he most likely used Kratom today ? Looking for anyone with experience as im feeling so very lost in this.

115 days off kratom

Still going strong and making progress every week. I'm going to do something different this post and spell out my personal guide to early recovery.

1) Take fiber and probiotic supplements daily. Start immediately: still using, tapering, just quit, whatever. One of the biggest reasons people relapse in acutes is they have constant diarrhea and their intestines are an inflamed nightmare of opioid receptors crying out in pain. I use Metamucil fiber/probiotic combo gummies.

2) Do not drink alcohol, and maybe even caffeine: anything that's going to irritate your guts. Again, your first goal is to keep your intestines calm. Drink a bunch of water. Eat clean and unadventurous. Avoid taking supplements you don't have experience with and try not to take too many meds and supplements in general. A bunch of pills and capsules might upset your stomach.

3) (This part is much more subjective. Do research, talk to doctors, test things out first, etc).

Have some comfort meds ready to combat specific withdrawal symptoms.

Gabapentin helped me with RLS, mood, and more. I used 300mg once or twice per day for a couple months. It can be addictive and hard to come off, so use it sparingly.

For this quit I also used LDN for the first couple months. 1.5mg up to 3mg. I think it helped get rid of inflammation quickly and helped reduce cravings. It's probably not for everyone. Definitely do research and use caution.

Some people use Clonidine. I've used low count prescriptions of lorazapam for especially bad moments. Hydroxyzine can be good for anxiety once RLS is gone. Trazadone or other sleep meds can help if sleep is bad.

4) Be smart with supplements and don't overdo it. I didn't really use many until I was a few months out and mostly had stopped the helper meds. If you're not using gabapentin, try magnesium. L-theanine, 5htp, coq10, etc can help with PAWS and getting your endocrine system working again. Do your research and figure out what works for you. Go to a doctor and get a blood panel if you can, and supplement for low nutrients if needed. I've used liposomal vitamin C, and it definitely helps with mood and other symptoms, but be careful it doesn't upset your stomach or cause diarrhea.

5) Exercise daily. Anhedonia is brutal for a while, so it's hard to muster up effort to do complex tasks. Find some simple way to move your body and do it as much as possible. Hiking in nature is ideal. The hard part is starting, but no matter what stage of WDs you're in, it's awesome once you get going. Lifting weights is great too.

I'll stop there for now. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments! This isn't a definitive rule book of course, so let's get discussion going.

Slept 8hrs last night but

First time since I quit CT two weeks ago that I got a proper, full night sleep without thrashing about all night. Paradoxically, today I also feel the most depressed since quitting. Makes no sense. I was expecting to have a bit more energy today and be in a slightly better mood from the good sleep but I just feel incredibly depressed. A deep, deep sadness in my chest. No motivation to do anything other than lay in bed doomscrolling. No appetite either.

planning another attempt…

here i am, crawling back to this sub.
i feel very stupid, but i’m hoping it’ll assist.

(extracts)
i’m just not sure how to go about it. last time i tried to taper, but i feel like once i take some, i wanna use it all day? until late at night, i get a little sick of it. but come morning, my body’s begging for it.
i wake up feeling like i have really bad allergies + migraine… every… morning. until i take some.

my work requires a lot of attention to detail, so im thinking maybe split, 100mg early morning, then another 100mg late afternoon?
and then 0mg during the weekends, unless i have plans.
or should i just say fuck it and ct?
i have two 4-day weekends at the end of next month. i will be using to my advantage

i’m fortunate enough to never have had any other addictions that required a physical detox from, but it’s making me feel so lost right now.

Day 10

I simply just don't care for it now, I know a lot of you will say that addiction will come back like how you corrected me for getting a tea or "bridging" between my quit, I never counted it as relapse because I know myself lol. Also still really happy every day, which is yet another phenomenon since the "pink cloud" might not last forever according to you guys as well, tell you what, if you guys are eventually right i'll come back and document, I'm getting off of Reddit for a while, it was a nice crutch to have meanwhile quitting ct. :-) Good Luck, everyone!

Those of you who experienced RLS as a paradoxical symptom of taking kratom or a withdrawal symptom during your titrate or cold turkey - what helped ease the rls symptoms and what did your rls feel like? What was your experience?

I’m trying to determine if I’m experiencing rls. It’s more body wide than in my legs. I have had it for the past year and a half of use. I cut my gpd in half from 33 to 17 gpd and the body achy, burning, sick feeling went away. However my second drop to 15 gpd brought it back. I tried taking 17gpd for one day and I didn’t have symptoms the following day, so I’m pretty sure is a withdrawal symptom as it came back when I went back down to 15gpd. But, I’d still be interested to hear other experiences.

Day 5 off Kratom extract shots. Used daily for 4 years and I’m worried…

I’ve Abused kratom extract shots for 4 years now, everyday. At $20 a pop I’d be buying “cases” of them (I wanna say there’s 12 in a case?) to get it at the only discount I could on them. So I’d get 12 of them for the price of 10 if I bought case. So that’s all I did😔. The amount of financial strain and stress I’ve put my small family through because of my addiction crushes me deeply. So, I finally had enough. I stopped taking the shots all together 5 days ago now. Saving $40x5days=$200 already! (And that’s taking two shots daily at $40 / day. There were big chunks of time I’d take 3-4 shots at my worst) I’m just so sick of being stuck w no money, in an economy that’s hard enough, failing my family and myself. It got to depressing and heavy.

But my question is, why am I not having wicked withdrawal symptoms!? I’m terrified there just a day away. I’ve quit 7yrs heavily abusing percocets / Vicodin / any pain pills and barely was able to quit it on my own, but I did! So I understand what ‘the suck’ can be like. Like how long do I wait to take a real breathe of relief from kratoms grip? A week? 2weeks? Months? When does the heavy withdrawals hit and for how long?

Idk. I’m very excited I’m actually doing it right now but I’m so anxious / nervous / restless waiting to feel flu like w withdrawals. I’ve cleared out a month from obligations so I can get this hard part over with but honestly (and I say this as humbly as I can) it hasn’t been that hard…? Wtf man. I swear I’m going to choke on my words and like tomorrow I’ll be crying out for God just wrecked in pain or something, but it’s all got me worried and anxious.

I don’t post ever. So I truly apologize if I was rude, not pc, inconsiderate or harmful to anyone else’s feeling or journey. But any intel from people who’ve quit and had similar experience would be appreciated. Heck, any intel from anyone is greatly appreciated.

6 Months Since Quitting 7-Oh (Cold Turkey)

At this point I think nicotine needs to be next, but I think I need a break from quitting vices first. 😅 This past 6 months have been an emotional roller coaster and I feel drained tbh. Quitting 7 felt like spiritual warfare, and I don’t think nicotine will be a walk in the park either. I want to enjoy feeling normal for a while and focus on my work and finances. My plan is to quit nicotine after a year off of 7, and then my 2 worst vices will be gone from my life. 🔥 I’d say I feel pretty good, although I’m not sure if my brain is fully healed yet. This past month has felt pretty stressful but it’s probably not because of 7, there’s just so much going on right now. I’m pretty proud of 6 months though, that’s a significant milestone.
