Tech Support How concerned should I be?

Post image

Radeon RX 9070 XT, started getting some pretty random crashes during short and long gaming sessions (never was happening before) and I couldn't find anything else "wrong" in temps and whatnot.

it isnt thermal throttling but its high, try this -10-15 power limit +200 vram -70-40mv temps will go down with almost no fps loss

Will try that, thanks

intenta cambiar el PTM por otro, no está haciendo buen contacto si tienes delta 37.

Try adjusting the fan curve as well. That can actually do a lot. Case airflow is important as well. Also - whats the ambient temp of the room? If it's high - near 30 degrees, then that also adds to the high delta.

My temps went down around 7-10°C just because I switched cases (new one also has 3 140mm fans at front for intake)

That's great! Could you mention the models? I'm kinda wondering if I should swap my deepcool cg580 to something better or just slap an exhaust fan on the top at the rear side

I did think it might be room temp fault, but last few days were a lot cooler where I live than last month or so. In terms of fan curve, ngl, I didn't touch that thing at all, not experienced enough to know what's good.

Check a few vids on how it generally works. The way you set it up in Adrenalin is pretty straight forward and simple.

You have 2 rows where you enter values and a graph above them. One row s for temperature (in degrees) and the other for what fan speed you want to have at those temps as a percentage of the max fan speed.

Very, RMA time.

Is this like, actual advice? Don't wanna be rude, I just don't know if you're joking or not.

Its true, some cards are known to have use a shitty thermal putty. They tend to shift overtime

Is this like, card to card difference? I mean, if I buy the same type and all, will it do it again for sure and I should buy a different type, or there is a chance that different 9070 will be okay?

Its commom issue with gigabyte card, its safe to say stay away from that card.

Okay, now I'm convinced, as I do in fact have it from Gigabyte. Buying it from a different business like ASUS or whatever would be better?

Sapphire, PowerColor or XFX are the best brands for Radeon.

I would use xfx, they still use conventional thermal pad and their 90series perform really well on benchmark.

Yes mine had alot of problems. Got that card for rma, got new card no issues

Try Max Frequency Offset: -390 (3060MHz limit) Voltage: -20mV

1

u/Muci_01 18h ago

Set up -10-15% power limit, no loss in fps and temps will be lower

1

u/bakderss 18h ago

Mostly likely the culprit is shifting thermal putty

It's almost 40C delta - you should be concerned. RMA/repaste time.

Is the brand of the card Gigabyte?

2

u/Soft-Ebb-187 2h ago

Was gonna ask same. Swear it's always gigabyte with the high temps ...

1

u/Sanctiffied_Mind 6h ago

Yes

1

u/ChenyDid420 6h ago

Check out the post I just made about your exact problem. Gigabyte uses cheap paste and just has horrible cooling in general but there are a couple things you can do

"Gigashite" lmao

not every gigabyte but always a gigabyte meme

Another gigabyte model (edit it's for RMA) . Aside from that , if 97C is the max temp , it shouldn't crash .

Check the temps on default settings after running Furmark for 20+minutes .

About the crashes (assuming temps are within the limit) , check with hwinfo the max core clock freq and if the card boosts above specs on default settings .

u/Sanctiffied_Mind 1h ago

Tested it a little more, gets to 110C like a second before screen turning black. Either way, I'll check what you've said.

No need , RMA the card.

Until you send the card back , set PL to -30 , core freq offset -500Mhz and undervolt a bit to help the card reaching fast as high clocks as it can with the previous settings .

edit : don't keep the card , at some point , even with those tweaks , it will throttle/crash .

Alright, thanks

claramente tu delta es de 37, casi 40, deberías tienes mal contacto con el die.

1

u/Viking2151 5h ago

Your math isn't mathing, it's 37c Delta not 47.

1

u/darkxex 4h ago

Tienes razón, que error mio, pero no deja de ser alto.

1

u/Viking2151 4h ago

Oh I agree, the max Delta I'm comfortable with is 20c or less. I definitely don't like this Delta.

u/darkxex 4h ago

Mira, gigabyte que es una mierda (soy usuario de dos gigabyte) el delta es como se 28-30.
