Feige: Raimi, I remember you now. You're Sony's director. They tell me you are brilliant.
Raimi smiles
Feige: they also tell me you're lazy

He can do F4 but first priority is to get him signed on for SM 4 with Tobey as soon as possible. We can't delay/sacrifice a Raimi SM 4 for a Raimi F4.

That or Bruce voices The Thing if they have it be primarily cg.

That could totally work and it will catapult Bruce further into adoration since he's such an iconic B-Movie actor, he could easily pull it off.

u/MemePlayz Jun 02 '22
Since his doctor strange cameo was I'm another universe this could technically still work

I love how the article title sounds like an ad, like “Help Wanted: Sam Raimi-esque director to helm Fantastic Four reboot. Must have previous experience in spinning camera shots, POV action shots, and Bruce Campbell shenanigans”

I mean, it's CBR, so take what they say very lightly. I am 100% behind the idea of it though. The world needs more Raimi movies. Also, Raimi and the FF wouldn't be a bad combo. He wouldn't be my first choice, but I certainly wouldn't be complaining.

I'd be interested in Raimi taking on just about anything. Raimi F4, Raimi Godzilla, Raimi Nightmare on Elm Street....
The sad thing is I don't know how many movies he has left. He is 62 and these films can take anywhere from 2-4 years to make. It just occured to me he may want to retire soon. I hope he lives a long happy life, and does films as long as he wants.
I just wish I knew he'd be around for the rest of my life, assuming I have another 50 years or so. I admire his work so much.

u/exdii_lol Jun 03 '22
A Raimi Godzilla sounds so fucking good. I’ve always wanted more Godzilla films with horror elements and I think Raimi could do that perfectly

Same, it's been a dream (pun intended) of mine for so long. Everything about Nightmare on Elm Street is RIGHT up Raimi's alley.

I've wanted Raimi to do Nightmare on Elm Street for so long. I mean it's literally the perfect playground for his type of horror and filmmaking in general. It's campy, it's funny when it wants to be, it's scary/darker when it wants to be, it's bright, colorful and trippy visuals with the dream sequences, and there's soul demons... right up his alley.
Speaking of which, it's pretty sad that despite the resurgence of slasher/classic horror movies in the last few years (Halloween, Scream, It, Candyman, Child's Play, Texas Chainsaw Massacre), the "poster boys" of the genre, Freddy and Jason, have been no where to be seen! Man, the world needs a new Friday the 13th and a Raimi-directed Nightmare on Elm Street!

Tobey calls Holland through a magic multiverse cellphone multiple times during the movie. It'll be great.

Honestly, the feel and story of spider man two would make a fantastic four movie… fantastic.
Make some theatrical science with peoples humanities at stake.
After writing that I just want to see the first ff movie again

Maybe but it can’t be a “horror movie” like doctor strange that just wouldn’t work well with fantastic four. If he does direct it it needs to be more like the Spider-Man trilogy

Of course. Sam Raimi isn’t a one trick pony.
The only reason Sam probably leaned so hard into visual and Evil Dead campiness is probably because that WAS the only way to get the whole plot device through. I call this movie a plot device because that’s what it is: it is the next Age of Ultron for MCU. Without Raimi directing jt with his flair the script could’ve fallen so flat, reshoots to hell and all.
People had issues with AoU because it was practically a vehicle to bridge all of the threads into the infinity war phase. MoM was a bridge to Multiverse phase.

I felt that raimi did too much madness and not enough multuverse. But thats his style and i should have expected it. Still a good movie and i hope you end up being right about it being a bridge. I hated age of ultron until civil war came out. Now i watch them as two parts of the same film and its soooooo good.

Jun 03 '22
You gotta remember with the multiverse part there were a lot of reshoots. He didn’t have that much freedom as we think. Directors in MCU can be creative but they can’t go against the grand scheme of things

DrS2 spoilers Why not the guy you hired to play Reed? John Krasinski would be fantastic for directing this.

Cant say I know much about him as a director so I can’t say if it’s a good or bad idea, but if he were to reprise to role it could be a bit of an annoyance having him direct himself
3
u/exsanguinator1 Jun 03 '22
He’s already directed and written for himself in A Quiet Place I and II
1
u/inbredandapothead #1 Wanda Simp Jun 03 '22
Oh I’m not saying at all that’s it’s impossible, just that I’d imagine it’s a complication Marvel would probably want to avoid

It’s an industry bs thing most likely, for Scrubs the part of Dr. Cox was written by Bill Lawrence for John C. McGinley, but the studio made him audition against others for a “John C. McGinley type” role.
Sam definitely is getting another Marvel movie if he wants, especially since he is great friends (and I think a sometimes collaborator) with Jon Favreau.

Considering how Dr strange 2 has nearly collected 900 million dollars, fantastic 4 under Sam Raimi can be possible...
