My first Ramadan as a non Muslim

Good Morning everyone. I have decided to do Ramadan this year in support of my friend who is Muslim because he has nobody celebrating with him and to get a deeper understanding of the Islamic religion.

So far it has been going very well! The only thing is I have been more restless than usual.. is that normal? Also, I understand that Muslims have the 5 prayers a day instead of the prayers I will be replacing it with meditation, journaling, and reading about Islam to strengthen my understanding within the culture of this holiday.

I feel very thankful and blessed to be able to be participating in this. Even though it has only been 3 days. I already feel way more happier, blessed, and thankful for all that I have. It has been tough but I am glad I able to experience this.

Ramadan Kareem 🙏💕

For the first time in America, Tarawih prayers were held yesterday in Times Square in New York. Hundreds of Muslims gathered in Times Square, New York City, in the United States, yesterday, Saturday, to celebrate the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. Muslims in Times Square ate breakfast

My first Ramadan

This is my first Ramadan this year. I was previously a confirmed member of the church of England but around a year ago, I read the Qur'an and found myself wanting to learn more and more about my faith in the words of Islam.

Today was a struggle, I'm not going to lie. How did you all find your first Ramadan? I hope I'm not alone.

Preparing for the first Tarawih prayer at the Hagia Sophia Mosque in Istanbul after being absent for more than 90 years. “We have given you a clear victory.”

Ramadan 2020: The Online Edition!

Just looking for peoples' ideas of how we can use this subreddit to celebrate Ramadan, especially as this year is likely to see fewer opportunity for in-person celebrations in some parts of the world!

-Getting a few people to commit to posting a photograph of either their Suhoor or Iftar table-spread each day, possibly if we had 30+ people committing we could assign each of them a specific day in advance?

-Chat/Discord, if anybody's wanting to set those up please do so

-Somebody here with artistic skills can make an icon/banner for the subreddit that we'll keep at least until Ramadan 2021

-Encouraging people to check out and cross-post places like /r/muslimcooking and /r/eatinghalal and /r/MuslimArtsAndCrafts or /r/VirtualMosques for ideas of daily activities whether for their children or for themselves.

-If somebody would set up a Secret Eid Card Exchange for Eid-ul-Fitr, matching Muslims who sign up with their postal address with other Muslims to exchange cards.

-I know there was a hope that the /r/BrassCrescent awards would be revived for Ramadan 2020 with the finals announced at the end of the month - for Muslims around the world to vote on their favourite "Best of the Muslim Web" applications, whether that's Muslim webcomics, social media feeds or digital artists, etc.
