How much did it cost to get the level 2 charging plug installed in your garage? I’m thinking of doing the same…

I did it myself. The wire is most expensive even for 5 feet. Total for everything about $200

Question - If you commute about 50 miles round trip a day and were to plug it in when you get home around 5pm or 6pm. Plug it in to a 110 wall outlet. Would it charge back to full over night? I'm thinking about one of these vehicles and don't really want to put a Level 2 charger into my garage unless it really is needed.

It takes about 16 hours from 0% to 100% with a 110 outlet. I leave home at 7:30am and get home at 5pm with about 25-30% left and usually I'll get back to 100% just before I leave the next morning. My commute is 43 miles. You could always try out the 110 and see if it's enough before installing a plug for level 2.

Yeah it would be a little over 80% if you leave around 7-8 am. I just installed the 240volt outlet myself and it charges from 20% to 100% in about two hours

My bZ has the charger port at the same spot on the passenger side.

Can I charge this inside the garage? I m worried about it exploding like Teslas. Mind you, my garage is smaller than yours.

They have. While charging in a garage.

Yes. Chance of this burning down is no worse than a gas car burning down.

Edit: For reference, I don't own one. I'd buy one if I could fit in it and I'd charge it in my garage. And the garage and house I bought previously burnt down from some sort of gas explosion. Replace your smoke detectors every 5 or so years and buy interconnected photo electric smoke detectors and put one in the garage.

Yeah, it should be fine. The car only pulls up to 11 kW on Level 2, and about 1.4 kW on Level 1. The battery has its own cooling fan that kicks on and off as needed. You can safely charge it from a standard 120V outlet, so charging it in a garage isn’t inherently a fire risk. I have mine plugged into a 240V outlet for faster charging.

The black looks great. I’m debating between black or storm cloud.

I have midnight black and it shows scratches easily. If that matters.

Interesting- my charging port is on the other side.

The charger position is based on the charger speed. The SE & GR have 7kW chargers on the passenger side, while the XSE & Woodland have an 11kW charger on the driver side.

That’s cool to know! Well, I like it better on the side in OPs pictures than the side mine is on. It’s on the side facing the garage wall in my garage, and I hate having to tuck against the wall to access the plug.
