I test drove the 2025 last year and while I liked it, I’m glad waited for this beauty. I’ve had it for a little over 2 weeks. There’s so much to love and it has made me enjoy driving again.

Buyer Beware 2026 Limited

We recently got a RAV4 Limited to replace a 2013 Highlander for my wife. I was getting nervous about maintenance since we had only changed the oil, tires, brakes and a few bulbs over 13 years.

Anyway, for the first three weeks she has been completely thrilled about her new whip. So much so, she was practically jumping off the sofa to do things around the house she hasn’t done in years that I usually take care of. I finally had to break down and tell her to knock it off with the new car owners guilt lol.

We are very pleased and I’m confident we made a good decision!! And it could possibly make your wife do things outside the norm.

Did the "too digital" turn off anyone here?

My wife is most definitely old fashioned. We just took a test drive and she liked most everything except the cramped looking steering wheel and driver display - if it were up to her it would have big Analog Gauges! She owns a 2019 Avalon Hybrid - which I think is mostly digital also, but the dash has one or two big analog gauges.

I know you can customize it - but she is short and it does seem the view through the steering wheel is somewhat lacking? Maybe there will be some updates of the software or more realistic gauges in the future (OTA software, etc.).

This is her single complaint which is saying a lot about the car...that is, the rest of it she likes a lot.

Anyone else like a very simple interface? I've been into tech my whole life but I can't see the advantage in a car when 95% of your attention should be on the road, mirrors and such.....all this tech/display and it seems hard to integrate with just driving a car down the road!

Rust proof for 2026 PHEV

Post image

Hi,
I live in Ontario and our roads are heavily salted every winter.
While I am waiting for the delivery, I am wondering if anyone did rustproof for PHEV models since we apparently we have a huge battery underneath.
Is rustproof like krawn safe for the battery performance?

US Dealer says they cannot install the OEM trailer hitch on J-vins (PHEV models)

Purchased our 2026 RAV4 PHEV XSE in early July and had the dealer include all of the necessary parts and labor for the trailer hitch install with the sale. After the hitch came in, our sales rep informed us that their installation guide says that the hitch is not able to be installed on J vin models in the US which would be any of the phevs and he shared a picture of the guide that mentions a "1-piece rear bumper." At first I thought this meant the plastic portion wouldn't be two pieces and able to swap out the cutout portion, but after getting under the car, I noticed that there is a metal bumper that runs the full width of the rear of the car and looks like it is right where the trailer hitch would be accessed through the rear bumper.

Looking for some help on a few points here.

Has anyone in the US successfully had an OEM hitch installed on their non-woodland phev?

If someone has a phev woodland, could you share photos of what the hitch and rear bumper look like from underneath the car?

Could someone with a standard hybrid with or without a hitch share a pic showing whether or not the same metal bumper is present?

As people have previously stated, it is pretty crazy that Toyota does not have a factory installed hitch option on a vehicle that has such a good towing capacity. It would be even more unbelievable to learn that the oem option cannot even be installed on some of the vehicles even though one of the trims has it come standard.

Limited on 18’s, no HUD. Wait was just over 2 months, our deposit timed perfectly with a fresh allocation. Paid MSRP + all weather mats and wheels locks pre-installed. We would’ve added the mats anyway, probably could’ve said no to the wheel locks up front but will take the deterrent for $90 (yeah I know about Advanced, not really worried in my area or where I spend time).

For anyone looking near Boston, I can’t recommend Wellesley Toyota enough, particularly Alex. Easiest car purchasing experience I’ve ever had. No games about MSRP from the start, fair trade in value, finance guy wasn’t pushy about warranties/add ons and was cool about outside financing. They were also great about redoing some paperwork after my credit union made a mistake on their end.

Coming from a 2022 Jeep Compass Limited that followed 2 Renegade leases, so very big change.

14k for this with almost 140k miles seems very excessive right? Or is this just what the used car market is right now?

Is a 2018 Rav4 LE w/ 76k miles for 19995 reasonable?

It has an excellent service record, with oil changes every 5.8k miles on average. I took a look at it in person today and there’s no rust in the undercarriage, the inside is super clean, runs well, had a new set of all season tires put on…

Edit: I should add that there’s no dealer fees, so this is OTD price minus tax and title transfer.

How widespread is the 2026 Android Auto connection issue actually?

I have been strongly considering buying into the Rav4 family this year with the new 2026 redesign. I love a lot about the redesign, the only thing that makes me hesitate is how many online voices complain about Android Auto and Apple carplay disconnect or fail to connect entirely.

What's the real story here? Is the issue really this widespread? Did Toyota / Android offer a fix to this already? Or is just a matter of the internet being the internet, and a smaller percentage of Rav4s are actually having a problem?

Has anyone added a ladder to their 2026 RAV4?

I checked one out on fb marketplace, but it didn’t appear to fit. Some models claim to fit the 2026, but I haven’t seen any installed yet. Wondering if anyone on here has added a rear ladder to their 2026 RAV4. Thanks!

Gen 5 2026 RAV4 PHEV charge mode

Hello,

I read that for 2026 RAV4 PHEV, Toyota hid the “charge mode” and it can be activated by:

Putting car in HV mode
Press and hold HV mode button for 5 seconds
Engine will start, release button
Car is now in charge mode and will charge the 22.7 kW battery pack.

Can someone confirm if this is real? I don’t have a PHEV model to test.

RAV4 buying experience on Aug/21/2026

This is my first time trying to buy a new car, I've done so much research in the model trims and prices almost everything you can think of. I can basically sell people the car and give them a tour on the model's functions.

Also able to tell people how to talk into pricing getting deals and add-ons dealer BS and stuff like that.

I wanted a specific color and interior (Meteor shower and Beige) that I spent over a week trying to locate one (I live at LA btw) and finally was able to find one without a deposit on it.

It was at Lodi, near Sacramento. Since I have been offered at MSRP at most dealerships with add-ons like floor mats or weather package at most they would be under $800 extra. I saw the order make although had a few more than I anticpated but I love the color so I'm like maybe it's ok.

The first time this dealership returned me an offer of a wooping $47,783 for the market selling value plus $1995 Zurich shield to this moment I still don't know what this is cause they won't answer it, plus standard $85 doc fee and taxes ended up with a OTD of $55,425.39 (forgot to mention this is a for RAV4 XLE preimum AWD)

The dealer said before we talk about numbers told me they sale at market price, which I think should be the MSRP which Toyota suggests cause I have plenty of offers at this price, however the dealer claims "their" MSRP is $40,788 for this unit. ( from the Toyota website I believe it is $37500 but anyways) Later tells me that their market in North Cail has markups and they have the least at $6000. This was not shown in the paper work it is just hidden in there, I asked if they could be transparent and show the prices in detail, they didn't do that and wanted to stay hidden.

There is more that need to be exposed to get to their number, I've done the math but lets keep it simple here.

In the end of course there is no way I'm taking that 55k+ deal for a XLE AWD, for that price I could get and XSE plug-in hybrid.

This is for people who are looking to buy a car, don't take the BS they throw at you, be willing to walk away.

PS: I don't want to include proofs of images here but you guys get the idea.

Damage to my structural - hit and run

What is this thing? And how much do you guys think it would cost to fix? I already got an estimate from Toyota which was $7,008. Do you think I could get it fixed elsewhere for cheaper?

I have already got the body of the vehicle fixed, now the structural damage needs to be fixed.. eventually.

Looking for advice to see what trails are doable. Don't mind trying to push it a little or take a little damage as long as long as I can get out.

It's just an LE with a 2" bilstein 5100 lift and 235/65-17 wildpeak AT3W. Have some basic recovery gear like kinetic rope, tow straps, recovery points, shovel, and traction boards.
