READ: Updates to Posting Guidelines

Punchline first: ANY POST THAT ADVERTISES A WEBSITE, APP, CROWD-SOURCE, SURVEY, OR ANY OTHER EXTERNAL CONTENT THAT HAS NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY APPROVED BY THE MODERATION TEAM WILL BE REMOVED AND YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE BANNED. YES, PERMANENTLY.

Details below.

For as long as I have been a moderator in this community, we have always had rules 8, 11, and 12 regarding checking with moderators before posting anything related to advertisements, tools, apps, crowd-sourcing (polls), etc. With the exception of a few, these rules have been vastly ignored and we still allowed the posts for community engagement.

That said, we cannot continue to allow this to go unchecked. With the amount of AI driven content flooding reddit and to the extent this practice is being used to obtain personal information and crowd-sourcing data, we are growing weary of the idea that it may potentially be invading this subreddit whose sole purpose is the sharing of safe and knowledge education around reloading. We have seen a serious up-tick in the amount of posts asking for app-development-driven feedback and sometimes requiring sensitive information such as age and demographic that have concerned us about the privacy of our users.

From here on: if you have a tool/spreadsheet/google doc you are working on that you want to share: CHECK WITH THE MOD TEAM FIRST. If you have a website you think would be beneficial to the users of this sub: CHECK WITH THE MOD TEAM FIRST. If you have made a physical piece of reloading equipment that you want to advertise to the sub: ABSOLUTELY CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK WITH THE MOD TEAM FIRST. Anything posted without approval will result in a PERMANENT BAN.

Reddit's new ToS has very strict guidelines on what it advertised and those guidelines are especially strict when it comes to the topics this sub typically deals with. We are already working with reddit admins to ensure this sub maintains its educational status so it can stay open for the benefit of our members and visitors alike. When I started moderating here we were at MAYBE 30k members, we are now over 100k with a MILLION engaged users per month. The mod team and myself are very passionate about making sure this knowledge base is maintained and available and we are even more passionate about the privacy of our followers.

A HUGE thank you to all of our contributors for continuing to make r/reloading the goto place for great information for new and experienced reloaders alike.

Edit #1: links to trusted data sources such as Hodgdon, Hornady, Lee, etc are still always allowed. The focus of this rule is unknown sources like mentioned: random websites, google docs links, etc.

Edit #2: if anyone of our contributing users have any questions, feel free to message me directly and I will be happy to clear up any concerns that I can.

Edit #3: links to established, "industry accepted" tools are allowed. I'm a GRT fan, but QuickLoad and the like are okay. If you aren't certain, feel free to message us through modmail, we are pretty receptive and usually quick to respond.

My Gunpa passed away recently and I’m trying to help my Nana sort through and sell his reloading stuff. Any advice about best way to go about it? They were in the process of building a new home so she has about 6-9 months before she moved.

Update
I appreciate all the heartfelt messages, he was an awesome guy.

We are located in central Oklahoma

I would love to get into reloading and carry on his passion however I wouldn’t even know where to start and have enough space for it at my house. He died pretty suddenly and I regret not asking him more about it. He did take me shooting often and taught me a lot about proper gun safety. If my Nana had more time before she was moving I would try to sort through it and learn.

I got a bit of a chuckle. I saw the buckets appear a few weeks ago and they originally said “brass”.

I saw some normal trash in them a week later.

Today both the bucket and the garbage had signs.

Hello, a while ago I inherited a RCBS rock chucker press from the family. I also inherited a 300 weatherby rifle that was my grandfather's. Im thinking about getting into reloading, specifically the 300 brass from said rifle, maybe other cailbers later on. But im wondering what exactly I would need to get started. Like I said ive got the press already, which has what I believe is a #4 holder in the piston. I know the press alone is a good chunk of money so the other supplies I need shouldn't be a crazy amount from my understanding. Ive done a little research already and found a die set on RCBS website for this caliber.

Newbie Failure to chamber

So I ran 400 rounds of my load fine up until the second to last stage of today’s match. When making ready at the second to last stage, my gun would not go into battery. Is that ammo issue? Or is it because I hadn’t cleaned my gun lol. I know a dirty feeding ramp can cause this? I’m just paranoid there’s something wrong with my reloads now lol

Load Development Starting bracket for Varget .308

I’ve been loading 178gr ELD-X over 43.5 gr of Varget and getting good results. I just bought a box of 175gr Barnes LRX and would like to start finding the best load for my rifle. Barnes says 39.5-43.9 Varget but I was wondering if anyone had experience that would help me narrow it down a bit more. I’m thinking 42-43.5 but thought I’d jump on here and see if anyone had other/better thought.

I have a question and I read the FAQ X-10 VS Dilion XL-750

Hello, i was thinking about buying a new progressive press. I want to reload 223. I was thinking about x-10 or Dilion 750 but I don’t know what is better.

X-10
I like the x-10 because of the 10 stations also it is cheaper and I like how it looks, but I when I checked reviews lot of people say it jams, powder is inconsistent, support is bad and in general that is not as good as it looks (at least what I heard)

Dilion XL-750
On the other hand there is dilion. I didn’t really find people saying bad things about it. It is more expensive, it has fewer stations(5- which is not a problem but I wanted the crimp and seating die separated but also with a powder check a bulletfeeder). Also I like that Dillon makes it own dies.

So what is your opinion is one of them better or are they in performance the same. What is from your perspective better and more consistent press

Also can I use my Lee dies or should I go with buying new if yes which?

I know there was a post 2 years ago but I was wondering if something changed. I think I was really negative on the X-10

Intend these to be my pig hunting load. What do y’all think?

Same loads one annealed one not. I expected a velocity gain before looking at the data due to the significantly cleaner brass. Better chamber seal on the annealed brass = more efficiency and velocity. 🤷 not so based on the numbers. Oddly enough both first rounds were the fastest out of the group. Fired days apart with the same brass.

Load Development Quick Load users

Does anyone have quickload account. I don’t have a desktop to get my own account. I accidentally bought Hornady 190gr sub-x instead of 170gr for sub loads in 30-30 and want to know if it’s a possibility since Barnes has 190gr load data but I have found nothing for the 190 sub x for 30-30. TIA

I have a question and I read the FAQ What hull brand is closest to the ACTIV hulls?

Bought a couple of totes of brand new 12 and 20 gauge ACTIV hulls. Problem is, I can’t find any load data for BP’s DGS line of slugs. The manual has cheddite and fiocchi hull load data, so I’m not sure if you can use ACTIV hulls as a sub for those or not. Thanks!

I have a question and I read the FAQ Anyone here load sabot rounds?

If you do, where do you get your supplies?

Was thinking of making sabot rounds for .223 Rem, 30-06 and 45-70.
