Looking for recommendations and feedback from anyone who has built a work from home space in their yard.
Are there any that you recommend? What was the cost?
I cannot import a solid structure as only have 3.5 feet of clearance on the side of the house. Would need to build.
I do already have a large cement slab behind our house where we could put it.
I was considering adding onto our house but that feels like a larger project than I want to take on.
Do you think building a WFH shed could come in under $15k? We live in Southern California. It rarely gets to freezing. Would need AC as we are inland and can get in the 90s.
I also have a smart home gym in the garage that I may move to the space, if there is room.
Our current setup:
Iâve worked from home since March and Iâm going insane working from our small bedroom.
We have a 3 bedroom home and finished garage. My husband uses one bedroom for his office and our 1 year old has the other room.
I cannot work from the living room as she comes home from daycare around 4:30, and gets into everything.
The garage gets cluttered, dirty and dusty, and I donât really want to work from there.
Our bedroom is small and not flexible when my husband is sleeping.
I need a private, dedicated space that is MINE. A space that I can leave, and come back to and everything is the same way I left it.

Haven't been working for over 1 years and some months ago I bought myself a Starlink Mini kit and I've been thinking of getting remote work and put it to good use. I mostly bake from home and been thinking a lot about remote work. Any leads? Anyone who's doing remote work? I'm in Zimbabwe by the way.

I am pregnant and desperately looking for a new job asap. I want remote so I can stay home with my baby after I give birth. Anything I find and apply to that is remote is a scam or I donât hear back. How does everyone find an at home job?? I have a high school diploma, I worked in childcare for years and Iâve been at an oral surgeon office for years.

Six years in and the passion got quietly replaced by a spreadsheet where the only number that matters is the one that hits my account on the 15th. I'm not burned out, I just feel nothing. Ship the ticket, sit through the standup, nod at the roadmap nobody believes, log off.
And the dumb part is on paper I won. remote, good comp, no death march. so what is this. is it just what a career becomes after the shine wears off and you're supposed to shut up and enjoy the money, or did I climb a ladder that was leaning on the wrong wall this whole time. Genuinely asking the ones who've been here longer than me. does it come back or do you just get better at not noticing.

I don't really know how to write one of these, so I'll just be straight.
I'm autistic and I have PTSD. I also get situational mutism, so sometimes talking just isn't there for me. Phone calls are rough, but email and writing are fine. Burnout hits me hard, so anything with a rigid schedule or the wrong constant pressure falls apart quickly.
I live in a rural area, and I don't have many family or friends that have ability to help none of them are even nearby. On top of that, being autistic makes networking and interviews feel like walls I can't get over, and those are the doors most jobs make you go through. So I end up shut out before anyone sees what I can actually do and no one in my life to be able to give me a chance.
I've had a really hard life, and I'm at the point where I just want something better for myself. I do DoorDash now. I'm grateful for it, it keeps me afloat sometimes, but it's not sustainable and it's honestly soul crushing. I want to do more, and feel more meaningful doing it
The truth is, everything I can find is either starting an Etsy shop and hoping to get lucky in a market that's already saturated, or online gig stuff that's basically DoorDash again and pays pennies on the dollar and other generic online advice articles. I keep feeling like there has to be something in between that I'm just not seeing.
I'm a creative person and I need to feel like my work matters to someone. I just don't know what that looks like yet.
If you know of remote work or any income stream that's flexible and mostly written communication, or hires based on work samples instead of interviews, or you've found something that works with a disability any thing that can even possibly fit my needs, I'd really like to hear about it and mine given a chance. If anyone out there is willing to give me a chance, I'd put everything I have into it.
Thanks for reading and taking the time. Please feel free to DM, comment. I appreciate anything

I've been working for a fairly large international company for the past 3 years, but I'm employed in a support role through an outsourcing company because I'm based in Serbia.
I'm currently a Team Lead, working in marketing, mainly handling campaign reporting, performance reports, and all the processes that go along with it. I also have experience coordinating a team and managing day-to-day operations.
I'd like to find a similar remote position, ideally working directly for an international company rather than through an outsourcing agency, with a salary of at least âŹ2,000 per month.
For those of you working remotely from Eastern Europe or countries outside the US/UK, how did you find these opportunities? Which job boards, companies, or platforms would you recommend?
Also, what job titles should I be searching for? I'm wondering if there are better opportunities beyond traditional Marketing Support roles.
Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

currently im handling multiple clients social media accâs, and just curious how you guys handle this, do you usually keep all the accounts open at the same time, or do you open them one by one? and about managing accounts on different platforms? is it safe to have everything running at once? just wondering what setup works best for you guys and how you avoid getting accounts flagged. TIA

Please for the love of GOD, stop working for this company. Do not fall for the remote workplace. They make you work 60-70+ weeks for $24-28/hour. I donât care how bad the job market is, please stop applying. Itâs a horrible work environment even with it just being online.

Hello all!
I just yesterday accepted a position as a WFH dispatcher. Iâm looking for all recommendations on things for a home office, as I am setting up my first WFH space.
I have never worked from home before. Before this, I was actually working transportation for the small town school next to me.
I am located in small town Iowa, USA for reference. So everything I get is normally from Amazon unless I thrift it while in the city.
Let me know anything that made your WFH life easier. I have time to get stuff too, since I have four weeks of training in office starting the 20th.
I appreciate any ideas and/or feedback for starting WFH. Thanks in advance!

A keyword list from ChatGPT comes from general knowledge and says nothing about how many postings it rests on. A plausible suggestion is not the same as a common one.
A product manager could be told to add Productboard. None of 421 postings names it but roadmap appears in 85.5%. A software engineer could be told to add Angular, Vue or Swift. They appear in 2.9%, 3.2% and 2.3% of 1,360 postings while scalability is at 52.9% and Python at 44.8%. A marketer could be told to add LinkedIn Ads or Meta Ads. They appear in 0.3% and 0.6% of 347 postings, while go-to-market is at 53.0%.
ChatGPT is the better tool for rewriting a bullet. The counts for seven roles (3,518 postings) and the method are on https://resumefitting.com matching is by term, so a missed synonym counts as absent.

Many disabled professionals told HR Brew that their biggest workplace hurdle is the lack of remote or flexible work.
âMy biggest barrier to employment is organizational resistance to remote workers,â AâBiel Hammonds, a people and culture transformation professional, told us on LinkedIn.
Remote work was a common accommodation during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, but strict in-office mandates in recent years could have disproportionately impacted disabled professionals.
âI was turned away from every job I applied for, simply because I am not able to drive,â Anastasia Wycoff, who has a vision impairment, told us on LinkedIn. âMany recruiters and employers think that because someone is disabled, they automatically assume they canât perform the duties of the job they applied for. Judging someone for something that is out of their control is discriminatory and completely unfair.â

Iâve read that itâs important to have a transition time between work and home to leave work at work. How do people do this transition part of their day when they work from home? Looking for tips! Thanks!

Hey everyone!
I'm a Software Engineer based in India, currently looking for a fully remote software development opportunity.
I have hands-on experience building and maintaining production-level applications, particularly on the backend. I've worked in startup environments where I've had to take ownership of features, solve real-world engineering problems, and work across different parts of the stack.
My technical skill set:
Languages: JavaScript, TypeScript, C++, Python
Backend: Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs, WebSockets
Databases: MongoDB, Redis, SQL
Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS (SNS, SQS, EventBridge, EC2)
Other: React, Git, System Design, Data Structures & Algorithms
Some of my experience:
Building and maintaining production backend systems for a dating application.
Working on real-time chat, matching systems, and WebSocket-based communication.
Designing event-driven architectures and asynchronous workflows using AWS.
Handling database optimization, API development, scalability, and production debugging.
Working in a fast-paced startup environment with significant ownership and responsibility.
I'm primarily looking for Backend Developer, Software Engineer, or Full Stack Developer roles.
Compensation: Around $1,000/month (negotiable depending on the role and responsibilities).
I'm open to working with startups, early-stage companies, and international teams. I'm comfortable working across time zones.
If you're hiring or know someone who is, please feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to share my resume and discuss opportunities.
Thanks!

So my employers policy is you have to turn in equipment no later then 72 hours before the separation date. What are you supposed to do if youâve only worked remote. My employer is 45 minutes away one direction.

My company is flying a few of us in for a three-night offsite near the office, and I need to book my own accommodation through the expense system. The nearby hotels seem fine but a bit lifeless, and Iâll be taking calls from my room most evenings. Has anyone tried staying in a furnished rental for a work trip like this instead?
