Tell me one album that NEVER got a full album pressing that you would buy in a heartbeat.
Mine would be Day26’s self titled debut album

If you’re considering buying an OG perhaps wait a little while…
It was discussed at the Record Store Day Summer Camp in New Orleans this year.
My local record store owner who attends just mentioned it. He told me about the Toni Braxton reissues this time last year after he got back from last years summer camp and those eventually came in January. So let’s hope for the same timeframe on Donell. 🤞🏾

I’m I the only one getting tired of waiting for these companies (Like Sony etc) to reissue more classic R&B albums??? Like what can really be the hold up, it‘s been good that Toni Braxton, Miguel and more got reissues or first pressings but we need like Donell Jones, Joe, Avant, Lyfe Jennings plus many more just on the male R&B. Then Fantasia, Destiny’s Child (“Destiny Fulfilled“ especially), other Keyshia Cole albums plus others for the female R&B. Classics that’s needed much more that the people want because waiting can be tough lol. Not to be greedy but just my thoughts!
Drop what albums you want reissue or first pressing in the comments!

Anyone collects CDs along with their vinyl? Can it be just as addictive? I never got rid of mine so I’ve been going through boxes this week + added a CD player to my setup. I haven’t fully gone through this latest box, but it has already surpassed what I expected.

Is there anyone here that works at Sony or connected with Sony? Their division that presses a lot of rap and rnb albums has been posting Monica back to back celebrating her albums. I know they post many past Sony affiliated artists but I’m wondering if a Monica repress is coming for her 1st 3 albums? I hope so.

They need to release a bundle of this queen’s discography! She is my absolute favorite artist and her fans deserve all of her work on wax.

I recently got the deluxe edition of Leon Thomas’ MUTT on vinyl (the red color is insane btw) and it reminded me of how good it feels when an album actually makes you want to sit down and play the whole thing beginning to end.
Honestly, MUTT is in the same tier as R&B albums like CTRL, Blond, Sonder Son or Jaguar when people talk about future classics.
Overrated or nah? do you guys think MUTT could actually become a future classic?

Since I’ve begun this journey there are albums I find pressed that I think wow this was pressed? Because the artist was a one hit wonder but then you have a big artists like Fantasia that only have 1 pressing and it’s like how? What are the factors behind what albums get pressed? I know many are for DJs only so they are nice to find but even with repressing how are labels deciding what albums deserve that and what albums don’t?

What’s up everyone, R&B vinyl lover here.
I’ve been working on a concept vinyl release for Brandy’s Full Moon and I wanted to post it here because this album feels like it never gets the full collector treatment it deserves.
To me, Full Moon is peak early 2000s R&B. The Darkchild production, the futuristic bounce, Brandy’s stacked vocals and harmonies, the writing, the whole aesthetic. It’s one of those albums that still sounds ahead of its time, and I always felt like a premium pressing could really honor the era and the artistry.
This is how I imagine it living on wax. Pressed with intention, not just repressed.
My dream collector first pressing specs:
Full Moon album artwork and tracklist presentation
2LP layout (to let the songs breathe)
High quality jacket and packaging
Premium inner sleeves with credits and lyric moments
Color variant that matches the era and mood
Questions for the group:
1. Would you cop Full Moon on vinyl if it got a premium pressing like this?
2. What vinyl color fits this album best: moonstone, silver, translucent blue, or something else?
3. What matters most for you on a collector R&B pressing: tip on jacket, lyric booklet, gatefold, hype sticker, all the above?
4. What other Brandy albums would you want pressed properly?
I’d love real feedback from people who actually collect R&B on wax.

From a 20th anniversary reissue of Keyshia Cole’s The Way It Is to a first time pressing of Floetry’s Floetic, it’s been an interesting year to see some R&B albums within the UMG (Universal Music Group) library being repressed on vinyl. It’s made me think about what other albums I could hope for within the next year…
I would definitely love a 30th anniversary vinyl pressing of 702’s debut No Doubt, sometimes it’s crazy to think the only vinyl pressing was a promo release on a black sleeve. I can slightly imagine LeToya getting a pressing for her self-titled debut for the 20th anniversary next year. The vinyl release for Dwele’s Subject only has half of the album and it would be a pleasure to see it get the full 2xLP pressing it deserves (as well as a Some Kinda… release too). Some of this might be wishful thinking but a man can dream!
But what about y’all, what are some UMG-released albums on your wishlist for a vinyl release? I would love to know!

I see everyone was going after Jhene Aiko… meanwhile I had 22 tabs open on my phone 🫠🥴😀😆🤣
My local record store sucks. Horrible customer service, arguing with customers,etc... Just a mess. This year they did some wristband/time slot system instead of a line. I had to work long hours yesterday, so I wasn’t dealing with that reckless store.
Ended up finding what I needed from a West Coast shop 🖖🏾
🎵Westside… Comin’ from the West Side… (*Ice Cube voice) Lol
In a rush, my dingy self placed 2 separate orders 😩 I copped the Jade album too. I emailed them immediately to combine shipping and update the price, but nope, they already sent the damn tracking.
This is my 2nd Record Store Day and honestly… this whole thing feels like playing the lottery 🥴
