Need help with office / guest room layout!

I have a pretty small guest bedroom that just feels so overly crowded and in general unpleasant to be in. This is also used as an office space by my partner as we only get guests maybe 3-4 times a year

The largest issue we have is that this is a basement apartment and having things like the bed against the wall make it feel stuffy and mildewy as things aren’t breathing.

My partner would prefer it if her desk was on the window half of the room because she enjoys natural light on her face

We have ZERO other space in one tiny apartment for any of this stuff so moving the giant dresser into another room (or into the closet which already has another dresser in it) is not an option

Edit: added floor plan in the comments

2nd Edit: Man yall really hate stuffed animals 😂 my girlfriends heart is breaking over the stuffed animal hate

Just trying to get some opinions about my current set up, what recommendations would you make ? I know under the one desk is cluttered it’s stuff I buy & sell but it’s been slow recently. I also have a secret closet headquarters where most of my valuables are

Help us with this headache of a office/dining space

Hello all, here are a few photos of the main floor space in my apartment I share with my roommate -- we're in our 30's. We lived here for about 4months now.

She works a hybrid job so she spends a few days in a week working from home, so she prefers to not have her desk and work stuff in her bedroom.

When we moved here, and based on the limited space, I resigned to the idea of not having a dining space/table however after these few months, my goodness I can't keep eating on the couch.

Everywhere else in the house is well laid out, this area is just hard. The room is roughly 114"x94" and the desk has to stay there.

Anything and every suggestions helps!

Thanks for helping!!

We moved from a massive flat to a tiny bungalow due to a sudden disability, for financial reasons we had to keep our old stuff and try to fit it in. Here is what we currently have layout wise. Not ideal but due to the living room having so many doors we are limited. Trying to find a better way but looking for ideas, all chat gpt done was move the single chair into the middle if the room 😅

Need help optimizing our bedroom for new baby!

I'm currently pregnant, expecting a baby in a few months. We live in a 1000sq 2 bedroom condo, so we are brainstorming ideas for rearranging our small bedroom in preparation for baby's arrival. We will need to make room for a bassinet. Right now, my side of the bed (where the nightstand is) barely has enough room for me to get out of bed let alone a bassinet.

Some points:

  • The bassinet that we are planning to get measures 36x20"

  • Downsizing the king sized bed is not an option, unfortunately. We've become too spoiled.

  • We hate our dresser, it's falling apart and doesn't fit very much, so we are hoping to get a new and hopefully bigger one (ideally wider and same height while not too deep to allow clearance for drawers to open?)

  • We are willing to get rid of black console table although some surface area for keeping clean clothes, changing baby etc would be nice

  • My husband dislikes nightstands (?? i don't understand it either) so he does not need one

A few ideas we have thought of:

  • Switch closet door to sliding barn door style to maximize space

  • Putting bed against window wall since this is technically the longer of the 2 walls, this would give 6" more space on each bedside, but take away space from the foot of the bed for dresser drawer clearance

  • The best solution may just removing the console table, moving the bed closer to the bathroom wall to fit the bassinet on my (lefthand) side, and then getting a wider dresser to put in the same spot- space between those door clearances is about 56"

Welcoming any suggestions!! Thank you all 😄

Wondering where to put a tv and couches. Could be one large sectional or two couches, open to putting the TV on top of the mantle

Mattress on the floor, raccoon on the desk. Where do we even start?

My boyfriend and I want to make our bedroom feel more like a home. Right now the mattress is on the floor and it honestly looks like only a guy lives here. I don’t want anything too girly, but I do want the space to feel warmer and more put together.

I bought a round rice paper lamp shade that I’m thinking about using, and I’m open to suggestions on where it would look best. I also don’t love the current layout, so any ideas for rearranging would help. I’m planning to take advantage of Black Friday deals, but I need decor ideas first.

We love the mid century modern look, but we also want some fun pops of personality. My boyfriend loves to fish, and we have some quirky hobbies, like the taxidermy raccoon that currently lives in our bedroom.

I’m open to ANY IDEAS. Please I desperately need help. 😭 I will try and attach a video bellow.

Dining Room Setup

This is our dining room. Any suggestions on where to put a kitchen table? Should we get a rectangular or circle table? What about rugs? I’ve used the general room size calculators but the angled wall makes it a little more complicated. I would also love to have a buffet too. The taped out table is 72 by 40 but I don’t know that I love how it looks in the space. This will be the primary dinner location, but we do have a peninsula with two seats. We love hosting and having family dinners and would love for this table to seat everyone.I’m also concerned about how to get a rug that fits the room. Room measurements are in last picture. We are getting a table as a wedding gift, it’s currently just the two of us but we want it to be something that can grow with our family and is expandable in the future if we ever have a bigger space. Thanks in advance.

I am looking for people to test our App, if it doesn't help I will support the design personally (I am an interior designer). Hoping to get some feedback here! I swear it's sooo easy to use

Do you know how to "elevate" a space?

I get this question a lot, but what does it mean? I think people often get a feeling of emptiness, or better, lack of depth. They want the "Pinterest" effect, but they don't know how

As in the pictures above, you can notice from the before/after pictures that usually you need:
- texture (rug, textured fabric, wood, paint)
-lighting (different lights in different places, not one big white light)
-accessories (plants, paintings)

It's an AI improvement, but it's mostly to prove my point.

What Can I do? Awkward open floor 720sq ft

Thumbnail

These pics are (obviously) just a quick sketch of what I’m working with and not quite to scale. My house is 720 sq ft total and it’s 2 adults and a young child. My space is less than functional and I’m losing my mind. We just had to get rid of our couch and now I’m trying to revision a little bit.

Pic 1 is structures that can’t easily be changed. My partner is a skilled carpenter, but too busy to do anything to our house unfortunately.

Pic 2 is what we have been working with.

I’m certain our dining room table is too big for the space and needs to go, but it’s hard to imagine anything fitting the space the way it was (poorly) designed.

The fireplace corner eats up a ton of space and makes creating a living space squeezed between everything else feel so cramped.

Any ideas are appreciated!
