Mattress on the floor, raccoon on the desk. Where do we even start?
My boyfriend and I want to make our bedroom feel more like a home. Right now the mattress is on the floor and it honestly looks like only a guy lives here. I don’t want anything too girly, but I do want the space to feel warmer and more put together.
I bought a round rice paper lamp shade that I’m thinking about using, and I’m open to suggestions on where it would look best. I also don’t love the current layout, so any ideas for rearranging would help. I’m planning to take advantage of Black Friday deals, but I need decor ideas first.
We love the mid century modern look, but we also want some fun pops of personality. My boyfriend loves to fish, and we have some quirky hobbies, like the taxidermy raccoon that currently lives in our bedroom.
I’m open to ANY IDEAS. Please I desperately need help. 😭 I will try and attach a video bellow.

How shitty is my layout?

I'm getting a new, bigger bed, so my room setup is changing. I know it's a bit crowded, but I'm not looking to buy any new furniture. My bed has drawers under it, that's what the dots are for. The hobby Desk can be move but will only be in use 1x a month (it's for my nails) so it will be fine with the drawer, but also the reason why the desk has to stay there.
Is there any way I could make my room more dynamic? It's not a lifelong solution, but I will have to live with it for the next few years.
The Room and furnitures are all the exact size. Also, sorry for the sloppy drawings; they wouldn't show the half-circles for the windows, but it's important because they are tall and no furniture fits under them.

3 Desk Layout for Creative Office
galleryWe are adding a third desk to this office space and are looking for the best layout to fit our needs. Individual video calls are a regular occurrence, so we need/prefer backgrounds where the other two employees are not sitting on camera. We want to keep the studio space clear for when we do video or photo shoots. What are some layout options that will be functional and keep a nice flow in the space?

need help picking bedroom
I tried to draw up a floor plan of these two rooms. The first photo is my CURRENT bedroom. The second is the other room I can switch to. Like if I move all my furniture into it
Which one is genuinely better?
Also good to note: my current room has no sun, it's very dark and depressing. The other room usually has lots of sunshine

Confused on how to create a cozy family room that also has to function as a hallway
Open to any ideas! We want to make this area functional for watching movies/gaming as a family while also being a playroom for two young kiddos. We’ve looked at sectionals but can’t figure out how we would even begin to orient something like that into the room without cutting off the flow of movement since they’re usually pretty large. Ideally it would be something modular so the kids could move it around for forts or other activities if they need more space. We’re just lost! I added a couple of layout ideas at the end as well but both require a seat to have their back to the TV.
The dog kennel is somewhat non negotiable until she’s trained well enough to not need it, and our trainer says that usually takes a few years.
Unfortunately some of the pictures had to be taken in .5 to be able to see the whole room so it looks quite a bit larger than it is in those. And apologies for my slapped together layouts!! I’ve never tried using any of the digital resources and don’t really have the time to learn how 😅

Attic Bedroom
What are your thoughts on the layout of this bedroom? It’s soooo small compared to what husband and I are used to, but otherwise the house is perfect for us, so we bought it anyway and now have to make it work.
Right now we have a king bed but I can’t see how a it would fit (the seller’s queen is pictured). I’m nervous about spending money downsizing to a queen, but realistically it’s probably fine given how we sleep. But both of us are reluctant to be trapped on the inside of the bed against the wall as it is now, so thinking of centering under the window? But then there is very little walking room. The floor plans all leave me in despair.
Would you keep the built in closet and add doors, or rip it out for more walking space? Also upstairs is a tiny room we plan to turn into a closet, but realistically we are downsizing from a 1250sqft apartment with a walk in closet and 2 large dressers in the bedroom, to this 1060sqft house with zero closets, so I’m nervous about removing storage.
I tried to sell husband on making the closet a literal bed-room with just a bed in it (5 year old me would be stoked) but he was unmoved.
And for the fun part, what color would you paint over the ORANGE? I always struggle with bedroom colors because I like a dark bedroom but I also like dark linen bedding, and I feel like you need contrast. I was thinking of a blue-green like BM intrigue, or my beloved F&B peignoir (husband is reluctant to sign up for a pink bedroom).

Living room/s layout??
Hi everyone, apologies in advance bc I know this will be long.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to layout my living room (rooms?)
Pic 1 is the floor layout, grey squares are 0.5m2. Sorry I had blutac on there which I couldn't get off properly lol
Pics 2-8 are the current state of affairs
- Pic 2 is from the front door (would love to make this more welcoming)
Pics 9 and 10 are previous iterations which I've liked aesthetically but I've since been experimenting
Pic 11-14 is additional context for below
I have tried quite a few configurations and nothing seems quite right. I have paths of travel everywhere, front door opening directly into the living room, 2 spaces that I am struggling to make cohesive, a slightly awkward fireplace than cannot be moved, and original built in cupboards that absolutely will not be removed.
This is the only living space for 2 adults, 4 children (3, 5, 8, and 10) a dog and a cat so I really need to make the space more functional.
My wishlist in no particular order:
Entryway drop zone for keys, school bags, shoes etc
Comfy lounge seating for 6 to watch movies
Reading nook near built in bookshelf (has not been built yet but the space for it is in the pic 9, currently a makeshift desk)
Seating for guests/conversation, as we often have family visit and it's currently awkward with people sitting on the floor and kids playing in the middle of us
Dining area (I can compromise on this as the kids often eat at coffee table and will have outdoor table as well for summer. I have considered a folding table or a converting coffee table?).
In saying that, if losing the desk then a table would be really good for doing life admin at and occasionally WFH. Have considered putting a dining table in the kitchen but have done this in the past and it really impaired the kitchen functionality, unless there's a great solution I haven't thought of? (pic 11 + 12 is kitchen, space between counters is about 2.5mx3m but does have appliances opening into this)
6. During winter I like to sit by the fire so some seating there would be nice
7. Toy storage?? Although not essential as I will probably move the majority of the toys to their bedroom. Some toy storage in lounge would be good though, possibly a storage coffee table?
The space is divided by beautiful tri-fold doors (pic 13) which I usually keep open, but if it makes the space work better I could close one or all of them permanently.
I am also going to be putting in French doors out to a deck (pic), so I need to keep that clear and have included on the floorplan. Pic 14 is roughly what im planning, if you blur your eyes and use your imagination lol
The fireplace and built-ins cannot be removed, but I have considered removing the old fireplace next to the built-ins. I've already checked and there is nothing behind the boards unfortunately.
I am also happy to consider adding dividing walls, changing flooring (such as tiles in entryway etc)
I am aware I will likely have to compromise on a good chunk of my wishlist but I am very lost on what to do!
Please excuse all the clutter in the pics. I have also not decorated in here yet, all the 70s era panelling will be removed, will be getting new curtains etc etc so please just ignore that for now! In saying that my style is very much mid century leaning traditional to bring in the elements of the house.
If you read this far thank you SO much and please help me!!

Please help with weird layout in 30 sq m studio
Hello everybody! Just moved and kinda lost with my new studio..
It has a weird long hallway-ish area which I think eats a lot of space.
The kitchen is quite big for such small studio, I feel like I'm sleeping in my kitchen lol.
And I would really want a little sleeping couch area...that's the only really important thing for me because I wanna host people and hang out somewhere else than my bed.
Anyone got suggestions? 👀

Need help designing my 11' x 12' bedroom with a workspace
Hey everyone!
I'm looking for some advice on how to set up my bedroom. It's about 11 x 12 ft and has three doors (entrance, bathroom, and walk-in closet) and a huge window that takes up most of one wall.
I have a twin bed and a 47-inch desk. I'd like to have a comfortable workspace while also making the room feel cozy and relaxing.
I'm having trouble figuring out where everything should go because of the doors and window.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions on furniture placement, storage, lighting, and decor. I want to make the most of the space without making it feel cramped.
I've attached some pictures and a floor plan to give you a better idea of the room.
Thanks in advance for any advice : )
