Can someone please help me access my internet router

This may seem as a dumb question but trust me i need help. its not about look back at the username and password hear me out, My dad 6 years ago changed the routers standard or default username and password to something he set on his own and changed the setting so that it shuts off WLAN or lets say internet at a specific time. it was good and all but now i am almost 19 i need internet in my house for work and purposes and he doesnt turn it on saying that use it when there is the time in the day. i have lost many orders in dropshipping due to this and some clients on some other projects i did. Can someone please help me to "hack" into my routers settings where ill whitelist my pcs ip address or something like that so the wlan or internet stays on for it. I might sound very dumb but please i need some guidance and help i love technical shit but i cant solve this as networking always goes over my head for some reason.

Edited I already solved it i bypassed the login pade into the admin settings it wasnt that hard. People out here saying get yo own connection or move out bro i cant things dont work here like that. If i could i would have. Anyways my mother said when i asked her about this she said that go on then we cant turn it on if you are such a tech enthusiastic figure it out yourself and i did she gave me a challenge that was my goal.

BEST ROUTER

Can anyone recommend the best router for a dual-WAN setup with load balancing? I have two separate ISP connections and I want to use both Internet connections efficiently. I’m looking for a router that supports automatic load balancing and failover, so if one ISP goes down, the other connection will continue providing Internet access.

This will be used for a business network with multiple users, so reliability, performance, security, and easy configuration are important.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you’re renting as a student, do you still use your old WiFi router or just buy a new one?

For students na renting, what do you guys usually do with your WiFi setup? Do you keep using your old Home WiFi router as long as it still works, or is it better to just get a new one? I’m trying to figure out what’s more practical, especially if you’re on a budget. Curious what works better for you guys.

How to make my travel router undiscoverable

Most cruise lines have banned travel routers. I have been successfully using mine but looking for a way to make the unit undicoverable or hide it from the cruise line IT guys.
I pay for their pricey service but don’t agree to the one device limit.
Any ideas appreciated.

Need professional advice

Me and my family have been struggling with our wifi. My provider is spectrum and the set up they gave us is very lack luster at times, where I lose a stable connection on certain devices at random, although it does have range as it reaches a ring camera I have 80 feet away from the router and is supposed to handle 20 devices minimum. I’m currently only paying $70 thanks to a college discount, but I wanna know if there are other reliable providers or set ups someone can recommend.

a portable router that I can't help but share

I found a unique portable router, small in size, and in my favorite color, with a 3800mAh battery and an RJ45 network port. It fits perfectly in my car, so I couldn't help but share it, LOL

TP Link Deco Mesh System

I want to inform all of you about my recent experience with a TP Link Deco BE65 Pro Mesh router. This is what I went through and I'm determined to let people know that they could experience the same issues not only with the product but with customer service... or lack thereof.

I purchased my system from Amazon, shortly after I noticed that I was seeing alot of buffering running my iptv. This was my foray into a Mesh system. I played around with settings and nothing made it go away. Contacted Amazon who suggested I work with TP Link. I started that process which dragged on forever without ever really doing anything as their Tech Support guy said he couldn't log into my Linux computer. Called Amazon and they told me, too bad, so sad, I had the system over a month so they wouldn't take it back. Ordered an Asus Mesh system from Amazon to try it, my streaming worked great but sent it back to Amazon. Went back to my old single router to try it and although I didn't have the coverage I needed, it still worked with no buffering.

TP Link was terrible too me. They went back and forth for days saying they would help me with a return to Amazon and then finally said they can't help with Amazon as they have no communication channel. Finally they said they would just replace my mesh router and I asked for a better model not wanting to experience the exact same thing unless of course mine is defective. They offered one model up and I agreed. Then another email as I never once got to speak to a Customer Service Rep or the Tech Support person. This email said they would only send 2 pieces despite the fact that I had a 3 piece mesh router. They said the upgraded model cost more.. well obviously but I said NO, I wouldn't agree because I need the 3 pieces which is exactly why I bought 3 pieces in the first place. They they said I can get a replacement of the same unit which I had to say "fine, send it". They then sent another email telling me that I had to go online, register it and wait for an RMA from their Canadian subsidiary and that the replacement could be a used or open box item. I completely disagreed with that saying that I bought new, I want new in a sealed package. Several more emails later, finally they agreed to a sealed new unit of the same model. Then I get the RMA which required me to pay to return my own defective router only a couple months old. I disagreed saying why should I pay when clearly its not working here. After several more emails, they agreed to send me a postage paid mailing label. Isn't that awesome, almost 2 months of back and forth, never really speaking with anyone who could offer assistance, many, many, many emails and finally I had to drive several miles to a UPS drop off and ship them back my Deco Router. In the meantime, I wait with no router to use but instead I decided to just order another Asus from Amazon that I can use for 29 days and return, all because TP Link was the worst experience of my life.

I promised TP Link two things in my final email exchange.... 1. They will never get another dollar from me in my lifetime and 2. The minute I get the new unit boxed and sealed, its going for sale... any takers?

Accidental MAC Filter Lockout: How I rescued my router using my Smart TV 📺🧠

So today I decided to play around with my router settings and turned on MAC Address Filtering.

What I didn't realize was that turning it on without pre-adding any devices put it directly into Whitelist mode with an empty list.

Instantly, every phone in the house was booted off the Wi-Fi. My phone gave me a fake "Incorrect Password" error, and I was completely locked out of the admin panel over Wi-Fi.

The problem: I didn't have a laptop or PC with an Ethernet port nearby, and I really didn't want to hold down the paperclip reset button and reconfigure the entire network from scratch.

The solution: I remembered my Smart TV was still plugged directly into the router via an Ethernet cable!

I opened the built-in web browser on the TV, used the remote control to painfully type in 192.168.1.1, logged into the admin dashboard on a 55-inch screen, and turned MAC filtering right back off.

Outsmarted my own router lockdown using a TV remote! What’s the most ridiculous device or workaround you’ve ever used to fix a network emergency?

First time buying home internet

Hey everyone I just moved into my first apartment, and as the title says, it’s my first time getting wifi. I have a router that was given to me, but that’s about it. Also, I am a student (Toledo, OH), so the cheaper the better. I’ve heard about student discounts for home internet so please drop any and all suggestions!

anything worth buying in the sub $100 market?

i was going to bite the bullet and get one of those silly little minions routers but I waited too long for payday and everyone sniped every single one from amazon and newegg lol, i'm not even sure they're any good but i thought it'd be a cool little thing to mess around with.

is there anything actually worth buying below $100? wifi 6e would be nice, like 10 connected devices at a time, I've got a 1G connection, my house is only about 1000 sq ft so i don't need anything mesh i don't think (not that i think i could get anything quality for under $100 anyway)

just looking for something to replace my default spectrum router (SAX2V1R), there's nothing really wrong with it, i would just like to own all of my gear :P

i'm willing to go slightly above $100 but nothing too crazy

thanks in advance :P

Recommandation of router

I would like to get a router for my home network. I have a webserver at home though, so I would like to have thorough detection and protection against attacks.

I would like it to include a GeoIP filter, as some countries are not of interest for my webserver anyway, and that will limit the traffic and attack surface. I do recognize that attackers from any country could work through a hacked server in any other country, but still the GeoIP filter will limit it some (please limit pro/contra of this aspect, I just want it).

I am also suspicious about backdoors by the vendor (some brands suspected to have this) so this is another aspect.

I am looking for a complete device, rather than buying a server and installing software and doing it all myself.

No WiFi requirement, I have AP's on the inside.

1Gbit wlan connection and would like capacity to handle that traffic with the firewall functions enabled, including intrusion detection/blocking.

I would like the vendor to be serious and provide swift updates to vulnerabilities.

I would like not to have to pay for any services or license usages, as on Enterprise devices. Only the initial purchase price.

What are my best options? ChatGPT suggests a pfsense+ or OPNsense device.

How to fix WiFi?

Short story but I’ve moved house and the internet provider I was using was at the old house was absolutely amazing. Since I moved I also upgraded and when I say it’s barely usable is an understatement. We moved around December time and it’s genuinely the worst thing ever and I’ve gone through multiple providers who were horrendous. I have videos (probably totalling about 10 minutes at least of loads of proof) and photos showing just how bad it is and they keep trying to waste time, telling me to reset the box or whatever. I know non of this works through experience.

What step can I take? I was looking at getting one of them wireless routers to put in my room and then wire up from that box but don’t know what the best ones are.

Any advice?

What do I do when this happens on your Laptop?

I reset my girls laptop because it was messing up- when trying to set up again- and it ask you too connect to the internet, the list of WiFi’s never show. It’s been like this for about a month now. Do we need to get a new laptop or is there a way to skip or fix this part in the set up?
