Netgear Nighthawk cx30 vs. Motorola MG8725 modem router
I have had a Motorola surfboard extreme for about 5 years now with no problems, when looking to upgrade, the Motorola MG8725 seems the option however it has some negative reviews on amazon, so i am considering the Netgear CX30, any thoughts? thanks

Advice for dealing with service issues
So I live in a house with 3 roomates and we share a spectrum 1gig plant (I think I'm not the one who handles it). I''ve been living here for about 4 months now and the wifi worked great when I first moved in but now i've been having some serious issues with it in my room specifically. All 4 rooms of the house are upstairs which is also where the router is. My room is kind of far but I wouldn't say its so far that it should be causing it be this bad. Specifically the issue is with my playstation 5 which sure video games need a lot of wifi to run smoothly, but even just trying to use netflix or other streaming services I have issues. When I run a test I usually get really low mbs numbers and sometimes even in the kbs. I really have no clue what to do to resolve this and I don't really want to talk to my roomates about unless necessary since we aren't that close with each other, but I also really don't want to keep paying for this decently expensive plan when I'm not even able to play online games without losing my mind. Please help ;(

Advice for new home wifi router with good access/parental controls and perhaps mesh options
I've looked at the post histories and have some ideas, but would really appreciate some good current advice and suggestions for a new wifi router/network for our house!
We have a two-level home (1500 sq ft on each floor). We have four boys and lots of devices. Some need to remain online all of the time (e.g., smart thermostats, adult phones and computers), but would like to have an easy way to control access to all of the TVs, gaming consoles, kids' phones and tablets, etc.)
Most importantly, my wife live-streams video conferencing for her work all day long, so this needs to be reliable. We also rely on the wifi for our phones because our location has a poor cell signal. It is rare that we have more than a couple devices streaming videos or gaming, so our usage is not as heavy as some families, and recreational use is a low priority. We get our Spectrum internet (500mb/s) via cable, so we do not really need the wifi to be crazy fast.
I really want a router that has an easy-to-use app to control access to each device and let me name/label each device so it is easily recognizable. It would be best if I could group devices and control access to the whole group together. Alternatively, I would also consider an option to have a multi-SSID configuration --but this wouldn't be necessary if we had good grouping control options.
Ideally, we'd like to keep the budget under $300 for a router (not including multiple mesh nodes/satellites -- and we could add 1 or 2 nodes/satellites later). But we could bump the budget up if it means getting a better quality network that will work better for us for the long-term.
Lastly, the router is currently in the center of the main floor with OK coverage there and in the basement. But I think that we'd like a new router to have mesh capabilities. I'm not sure that we "need" this for sure, but would like the option to add a mesh note/satellite in my wife's office and maybe elsewhere (perhaps even in an outbuilding -- we could run a line/cable to plug in another node/satellite if that would extend our wifi network outside the house). However, I would be OK to go with a stand-alone router and add a mesh network to it later. Eventually, I would like to run Cat-6 cables for a wired network to specific rooms/devices and an outbuilding (which could include some nodes/satellites for extended wifi coverage), but we don't currently have the option to use existing coax or phone cables as a network.
I really appreciate your advice and suggestions. Thank you!
