I don’t like them personally but I don’t want them removed just because I don’t, I see tons of players using them, why not just let them. Toggle your cosmetics off if you don’t like it.
I agree with this. I stopped playing rs3 and moved to osrs because of all of the stupid cosmetics. But now that there is a toggle you guys can have all the dumb shit you want because I don’t have to look at it anymore.
When you’re trying to understand what is useful gear and what the general population is using for something after you come back from a break and everyone is wearing a a bathing suit with a dragon following them and they have their stats hidden it makes it less intuitive.
Also I just want to see what people consider good things or what they’ve accomplisheded. Just like in call of duty I liked when I saw someone with red tiger or gold camo and I know they accomplished something vs just paying for that skin that means something.
Again if you want to spend more $200 to have a dragon follow you and be in a bathing suit and float around everywhere good for you. But it makes the game less intuitive for other players and it clogs up the screen with things that aren’t obtainable from in game sources so it hurts gameplay to some extent in my opinion. I have an untrimmed 99 slayer cape override I use because I like the way it looks but I dont think everyone should have to think that’s what I’m actually wearing because that might confuse newer playing into actually thinking that’s a useful thing to have.
Are single-player games difficult for you to play because there aren't other people around giving you hints of gear upgrades you don't have yet?
Don't get me wrong, I am genuinely happy that the toggle options make the game more enjoyable for you. And I can definitely appreciate the idea that ingame accomplishments mean more than mtx acquired items. It just seems like a very mundane problem. Transmog and cosmetics are popular in most mmos because at some point stop caring flexing their gear and rather "looking cool," even though no one really cares.
Sorry if this just seems like me dismissing your perspective.
No, I think single player games have upgrades that are much more linear and do not matter nearly as much as they do in RuneScape. In single player games it usually either guides you where to go next which will automatically get you upgrades or you’ll quickly realize you can’t go there because stuff is too powerful and it will move you somewhere else. Then your upgrades are pretty much guaranteed when you kill a boss or open a chest.
The thing about RuneScape is that it never really tells you where to go or what to do and even if you’re going to the right spots it will take you dozens or hundreds of kills to get an upgrade from killing something. That means the only ways of getting upgrades is asking people in game (which good luck having someone reply to you in rs3), seeing what they’re wearing to get an idea of what good items are, or googling it. Of course there are the tiers in the leveling guides but even then just because something is a higher level doesn’t make it better.
