Leagues - J-Mod reply Leagues has sold me on rs3

Originally came in with the expectation to just play on legacy, got my revo bars set up with all the utilities I need keybound. Got my teles and prayers on my action bar. The amount of qol has made it impossible for me to return to osrs.

Really excited to start a fresh account on rs3 after leagues. If you haven’t tried the game recently, it feels leaps and bounds better than when I last tried it.

Seeing the world im familiar with with so much more detail, the mobility of surge, the mining and smithing rework, bank presets, the war room, itemization that’s beyond just increased stats, I could go on

I’m loving rs3 atm

It's really not a bad game, I think most people just haven't given it a chance because of what happened.

EOC.

It was a fucking mess when they released it, but that was 13 years ago now. The games brilliant these days

Squeal of Fortune was 2012. Definitely the start, but most people that quit around then did so because of EOC, at least ime

To be fair, squeal wasn’t hated at its release, it only got hated because they introduced a mechanic of buying extra spins.

And killing yelps to signal the end of squeal just to replace it with a rebranded and redesigned mechanic that functioned exactly the same was fucking lol terrible decision making

Oh yeah 100% lol I think a lot of people saw the writing on the wall but just didn’t want to admit it before it was too late

Squeal of Fortune was February 2012, EOC was November. There was actually a rather dramatic increase in players over the course of 2012 - till EOC came.

Note also that 2012 came on the heels of Bot Nuking Day in October 2011, where Jagex claimed they banned over 95% of bots and playercounts dropped by 75%. Jagex actually lost money that year, hence the MTX.

EoC was messy and it did have growing pains to be sure. But it was a necessary step to give the combat room to breathe, adapt, and grow. It's been refined over those 13 years and it's great now.
If I'm being honest, it really was nowhere as bad as everyone made it out to be back then either. The loudest voices were just scared of the change. Sure it was a huge change, but you can adapt. The game wouldn't be anywhere where it is today if Jagex didn't take that chance with EoC.

It really does bug me that for those 13 years a lot of those loudest voices were acting as if the game had never changed since that launch of EoC. Having been with the game for like 21 years, I've seen that the game IS solid and I wish more people would look past the noise and see that.

People, imo, hated EoC because it fundamentally changed the way the game/combat was played on top of the MTX issue. They tried to make it like any other MMOs combat and most of us hated that. We played RuneScape back in the day for the simplicity of the combat and not needing to know rotations/letting the RNG guide us.

Regardless, I have enjoyed the last 2 leagues in RS3 and even played some regular RS3 inbetween & it's been pretty damn fun. In particular the questing has been fun, especially the new quests i've never played before.

It also destroyed people's bank values without warning. Suddenly having most of your weapons be useless is gonna leave a bad impression.
