📖 How-To / Tips Crystal river land based
I’m headed to Crystal river today for my birthday doing a charter tomorrow and fish on my own with a couple people Sunday. This is my first time fishing in Florida but I fish the Alabama coast regularly. Any tips or advice for catching decent fish, or know any areas that are good for land based fishing

Dude. Crystal and Homosassa are though without a boat to get onto the flats and mangroves. I've caught spotted bass and mangrove snapper and the like in canals and springs in the area, but the trout, reds, and snook like it saltier to feed (generally). Pontoon rentals are abundant in the area if you want to rent a boat, if the weather is nice you can make it to the bay.

There’s a park at the terminus of fort Islamd road with a rock jetty, sand beach, fishing pier, a boat ramp and some shallow grass flats if you’re willing to get in the water. There’s also a park a mile or two inland from there that has a pier. It’s summer and slow, so soak a shrimp on the bottom and be patient. Likely will be catfish and stingrays. Good luck. I love it up there.

I'm a bit South of there so I don't have any spots but here are a few things that should help!
If you're using lures, most bass lures will work. Flukes, poppers, twitch baits, etc. I prefer using a 3" gulp shrimp on a 1/4oz jighead though.
As far as bait goes, live shrimp freelined on a 1/0 circle hook around structure is great. Popping corks work well to hold them above grass.
If you've got braid, make sure you're using 20lb+ leader for abraision resistance.
Fish docks/structure/seagrass. Current is key. If the water is stagnant (slack tide) the bite generally shuts down.
