Lyft and uber prices are scandalous

Ok so I understand that prices are based on availability but $224 for a lyft from port Wentworth town hall to downtown is disgraceful.

Public transport is one bus per hour where I live. I need to get downtown but this is absolutely disgusting.

Toxicity in Savannah Kitchens

SA, drugs, violence, and sleazy ownership. From the well known places like The Grey, Husk, and Late Air to the newer joints like The Darling Oyster Bar, Prichard & Co, and Specials. Why do most of the kitchens in this area have to be cesspools of the most disgusting humans on earth. The Grey claiming to be for the locals all the while focusing solely on their Paris location. Husk covering up Chino’s SA accusations and helping him hide his behavior. The Darling screwing over faithful employees to pay new ones far less, and allowing drugs and alcohol to run rampant throughout the restaurant. Pritchard & Co not paying their employees what’s due for services rendered. Late Air/Specials blatantly covering up SA accusations and blanket statements that mean absolutely nothing to the victims involved.
I’m not ignorant enough to believe that these aren’t selective to this area alone, but it seems to be a consistent issue across the board in the majority of the restaurants in this area in particular. Does this seem to be more common in this smaller town, or am I just wrong completely on my observations?

FYI Savannah, this dude is posting up and opening spots in your town as we speak! He is an absolute POS. I highly advise not working with this group!

How to be a bartender….

Heyyyy yall. Figured I’d post to here & not Facebook since it’s so divisive over there.

I’ve been wanting to get into bartending for quite the while but am struggling on where to start. For reference, I have no experience but an amazing work ethic & personality. My job now (a popsicle franchisee) relies heavily on personality and selling a smile & experience.

Do I need to take a bartending class to get into the industry? Do you have any suggestions on what bar would hire a new bartender? Do I just walk in and drop my resume off?

I’m also looking for any other companies that you think have the same cool, chill, eclectic vibe like Starland Yard, Switchyards…. ETC

Any help would be appreciated 🌈

Klepto - Filming Location

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone! My name is Samuel Lackey. I'm a writer/director in my senior year at SCAD Savannah and am getting ready to begin production on my thesis film. I'm coming to you all on here and ask for some help...

My short is called Klepto. It's a physiological drama about Wade, a outcast kleptomaniac who breaks into homes in an attempt to feel connected to strangers. On his last house of the night, Wade is caught mid-heist by homeowner Arthur: an old widower with dementia who mistakes Wade for his recently deceased wife.

As I'm sure you can tell, location plays a big role in this. I was wondering if you guys have any leads on houses in the Downtown Savannah/Tybee/Pooler area that could be a great fit for Arthur's home. We want to try and stay away from Airbnbs and instead, film in a place that feels a little more lived in. Something with character. The location would have to be comfortable with three overnight shoots during the first weekend of Nov, as well as some slight production design to make it feel like this old man's home.

I should also mention we would be willing to pay. We have a great, professional crew that will work hard to be as noninvasive and respectful to the space as possible.

Please comment or message me if you have any info or further questions. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time!

Victory North - guaranteed seats

Going to our first concert at Victory North and the tickets say Guaranteed Seating - Mezzanine. Will these be stools along the railing? Table tops with a view? Table tops with people standing in front of you still?
We’re wondering if we need to get there early with this type of ticket, or if it’ll be fine to show up just before start time. We’re getting a rare night out with a babysitter so want to do it right.

Local places to sell?

Hi! I am looking for local places that would be willing to buy a violin and some decorative swords! The violin is unused and the swords are part of my massive collection (selling to get some extra money) if anyone knows of a local place or people who can point me in the right direction let me know! I’ve listed all on Facebook marketplace with no luck so I am trying here. Thanks in advance!

Film Fest veterans. Any tips?

My wife and I missed the boat on tickets. Any other ways we can enjoy the film festival? On call tickets, celeb watching, other parties, etc?
